I can't wait to go back! My husband grew up in nearby Margaretville. So over the years we've visited friends and family during the Summer. Our visits have always been wonderful but brief because our lodging experiences have been less than wonderful, until our stay at the Starlite Motel. From first impression to our departure, we felt very welcome. I hadn't really noticed this motel before, so I imagine they must have done some new renovations, both outside and inside. The vegetation surrounding the motel was lush and well groomed. And as we drove in I could imagine myself sitting out on one of the cheerfully colored picnic tables scattered throughout the landscape. We did not book ahead and discovered that we were really quite lucky to get their last room, and a king bed at that. The owner was very warm and friendly and handed us a stacked basket of goodies for our breakfast next morning. Being skeptics, we figured this was going to be the climax of our stay and that we'd meet our dissappointment at the room. But the room was charming and clean, with little personal touches in every corner. There was a kitchen with everything we could need. And the bathroom was updated and matched the decor of the room. Immediately we knew that we'd be comfortable here. Still, there was a bonus: the kitchen door opened into a park-like setting, where we grilled our dinner for most of our stay. We extended our visit by 3 extra nights and a couple of those days we just prefered to stay in and relax instead of visiting with friends. We're planning to return to the Catskills sooner and longer, now that we've found our little haven at the Starlite.
