Project: Railroad tie retaining wall and limerock fill to stabilize a driveway



Our driveway was poured in two separate sections at two different times. The second section was never properly laid out or installed. It had sunk down 6 to 8 inches and was getting worse. Moreover the situation was aggravated by drainage from our yard flowing in channels beneath the first, and better, section.



We contracted for the removal of the concrete in the second section (separate review) and then contracted with Hobson's Herbs & More to have the now empty second section filled with limerock; and to have constructed a 55 foot retaining wall made from railroad ties.



Randall Hobson of Hobson's Herbs & More led the project and subcontracted with his son-in-law, George Lozito, owner of Evergreen Professional Landscaping, for help with the job.



We are completely pleased with the project that Hobson and Lozito did for us. They were easy to work with from project proposal to conclusion, and they did fine work. The work proceeded at a good pace and the site was left clean and neat after each workday and at the conclusion of the job. Material consumption was slightly less than estimated and the unused materials and labor to install those materials were deducted from the final payment for the job.



Our house looks better and the drainage problem is resolved.
