Top notch Doctor. Well educated, and great background experience. This included HIV research he told me about that he had been involved with at the Pasture Institute. He also had worked at the Mayo Clinic.
He was very intelligent, communicated well, spent what time was needed - never felt rushed, attentive to concerns and concisely discussed where things were and what we could do about my medical and HIV issues/problems.
He is cutting edge HIV research knowledgeable.
I had been a long time patient of Dr. Rogolski there, but when he left, I was placed with Dr Gaedy. Both Dr. Rogolski and Dr. Gaedy are outstanding Doctors.
Unfortunately Dr. Rogloski retired, and Dr. Gaedy left.
Just about all the office staff there are nice and helpful. There are two that are not, in my opinion.
I just registered for Citysearch, ONLY after reading other reviews of Pac Oaks under Dr. Scott Hitt (also gone), and reading the reviews since 2007.
I noticed that in the reviews already posted for Pac Oaks there, that since high ratings back in 2007, the ratings are now just about all bad.
Some of that is Dr. Rogolski and Dr. Gaede being gone. I would imagine from reading the other reviews here before mine, that there are far more serious reasons and issues for the very negative complaints others have posted.
Please don't take my word for it, read the reviews here on Cityserach, under Pac Oaks & Scott Hitt. The complaints are not about Dr. Hitt, but about the practice and staff. I still find MOST of the staff, nice and pleasant to deal with.

he must be the worst doctor I have ever experienced. not only is he completely inept; but he also, is egregiously careless and irresponsible with his patients. Take it from me, DO NOT EVER put your health and your life in his hands. He doesn't return calls, and will only ever attend to your urgent needs once you pass through his doors and pay him bucko bucks for his 5 minutes.

I was forced to leave my doctor I was seeing for the last 16 years. One of the greatest Dr. I had Dr. Thomas Magee. My Chiropractor told me about Dr. Anthony Scarsella, made an appt. and say him early 2009, I liked him, he listens to my questions and answers them to my satisfaction. In general he is a great great doctor. BUT !!!! there is a problem at this office:
I was NEVER able to talk to my doctor on the phone EVER not even once for a quick question.
WAIT !!!! his staff is M E D I O C R E the worst I have ever encountered anywhere probably worldwide. My insurance can enver get a hold of my Dr. because the nurses and the office staff never deliver the messages. A simple prescription took two and a half months for my insurance to fill it and mail it to me because they were UNABLE to reach the doctor for dozage verification. The staff never advised the doctor that my insurance were calling for verification.
I need a new Doctor's office can anyone help?

I needed to find a new Dr. as mine had retired and I asked a couple of people and heard that Pacific Oaks Medical group had a wonderful medical staff. I made an appointment for a flu shot. Mind you I could go to
Target or CVS for a shot that would average out to what my PPO co pay would be. But since I have to pay more this year to keep the same insurance coverage why not use it? I go to the appt. the dr. is great, he orders the shot and to our amazement we are told that the office will not provide me the shot unless I pay an additional $50. Ok. So I ask why when my coverage says that I am 100% covered. I am already paying a premium. I even verify with my insurance co. they say I am covered. Then I am told that the office does not get 100% reimbursed for the shot so they charge $50 for it. If I want to pay it and get the refund from the insurance co. I can do this. WTF am I paying for? I pay a co-pay to come to this office and they want to extort additional cash for something that is already covered. I can afford it, but what about the other people that can't? It is the principal. Why would I pay $50 on top of $30 co-pay to get something on the corner for $25! My advice? Ask for what they (Pacific Oaks Medical Group) charge on top of your full coverage insurance. If you don't have full coverage insurance go somewhere else you will not be able to afford the parking and the visit at the same time.

If you are looking for a stress-free, extremely comfortable, and caring Doctors' Office......THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!!! I have NEVER been to a doctors office that has not kept me in the waiting room for AT LEAST 30 minutes.....I ALWAYS get back to see the Doc within 10 minutes of entering the front door!!! Talk about FAST service...and it ALWAYS comes with a SMILE. Not only are the doctors the BEST I have ever seen, the staff is right there with them. Dr. Scarcella is a Doctor that knows what he is talking about and Dr. Skiba isn't only a witty, warmhearted guy, he is also a fountain of ""antibiotics"" ......meaning that I never have to go back for the same sickness! Not to leave out....the guy at the front window..... WOW Talk about ""Hot""!!! He has the best smile and ""How are you Doing"" attitude EVER! I cannot leave out SHARRON......What A Gal !! How does she remember EVERY PATIENT!!! James is always around to help AT ANY TIME!!! SWEET GUY .........Last, but SURELY not least..... TERRY! What can I say......This gentleman has kept me financially secure in this economic downturn. When I have been in the dumps about money..... Terry has assured me confidence that everything will and ""has"" gotten better. He has helped me have more confidence in Pacific Oaks Medical Group than I could have imagined. Thanks to a wonderful 4 years and GOING to my !!!healthy!!! functioning
PACIFIC OAKS IS THE BEST.....BETTER THAN THE REST!

Well first, for all these past reviews. If you want results, they ised to call you but, they say call in after so many days. YOU HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN LIFE, Not they.
2nd Parking Street cleaning is Mon. Tues. I make appts on weds. Parking ends up OPEN and FREE but, then again I have a Blue-Placicard like a free parking pass to the whole city...tee hee.
I've been coming here for 14 years Sept. 13th 1995, they have gone through major changes, yeah had a couple of nurses fired, not meaning too, their own mistakes. So, YOU PEOPLE DO HAVE A VOICE, USE IT. Call and ask for Terry, he'll fix things....I hope...lol
for now, love the place and Dr. Skar.

I have been a patient of Dr. Scarsella for more than a year. The doctor is very patient and nice. The assistance are nice too.The front is always very busy and dry.Not the best customer service. They are always overwhelmed. The parking is expensive and the street parking is hard.
Overall the doctor make it worth going there.

I went through the physical thing with Dr. Skiba as a new patient. He put me on meds for high cholesterol and then had me come back for lab work to see if it was down. After that visit I never heard from him or the office again - never got results - and didn't feel inclined to bother. I had no problem with the front office but they are swamped - the phones are constantly ringing. Might be one reason they don't have patience with billing issues.

Best thing I ever did was call Pacific Oaks and doctor a new docter. Dr James Gaede is the best. I know his busy and sees a lot of people, but when it's you turn and he walks through the door, it's al about you. He answers all my questions and concerns but not befor he tells me why he knows the answer to my questions. Last year I had a complete physical. Dr Gaede called me back and went over the entire report point by point. He explained things in laymens terms and the best part...the test was clean/neg across the board. I get same day appts if needed. Sure parking is a litle expensive. But after the last doctor I had I have no problem paying the $3.00 to $6.00 for the type of medical care I get. And there are 2 hour free parking on the side streets if you're a little straped for money.
Bottom line is Pacific Oaks, the Doctors and staff are great!!! They make my doctor appts enjoyable!!
Oh and the cute doctor, I'd have a hard time when it's time for the physicals

I don't know how someone could get bad treatment or care from Pacific Oaks. I recently moved to southern California and needed a new doctor. Being gay I looked through the ""gay rags"" and came across their ad. Upon asking around about Pacific Oaks and the care I set up my first appointment. The entire staff was friendly, kind, and seemed real concerned for my care and health. Having a doctor who is younger than me, (not to mention drop dead gorgeous!!!!) is refreshing and made me totally feel comfortable and talked to me as a real person and human being not just a patient.
I don't see how anyone can have a problem with them. I am so happy to have found my new doctor and will give nothing but praise to Pacific Oaks. They get a gold star from me!!!

I started going to Pacific Oaks to see Dr. Rick Stryker. He is a great doctor and I had no problem with the service. When he left, I followed him to another office. He went into research, so I went back to Pacific Oaks recently and found they they had gone downhill fast. In about a 1 1/2 year period the service was nothing but a pain in the a**. First off, they wanted me to sign a document stating that I would be will willing to pay $75.00 for a missed appointment. OK, I can understand this policy if I was habitually late or had missed appointments, but this was not the case. As a matter of fact, the doctor was late 80% of the time. And I'm not talking about 5 or 10 minutes...it was 30 minutes one time. What about paying me for my time?
Second, I have had the same insurance for the last 10 years and they wanted to photocopy my insurance card every time I went into the office. Again, I could understand if I had changed insurances several time. Again, not the case. I just found them to nit pick every detail.
I decided to go and see another doctor, so requested my medical records through my current doctor. I received a bill for $35.00 from a print and copy agency in Pasadena. They stated that they will send my records to my current doctor when I pay the bill. What about confidentiality? I'm not comfortable them farming the copying to an outside agency. The $35.00 isn't such a big deal. It's the principle. I never heard of paying to have your records sent to another doctor. Sure, they charge if you'd like to pick them up yourself.
Keep in mind that I was a good patient. I never missed an appointment and was NEVER late to an appointment. Every time I went in to see the doctor there was some new policy or more paper work to fill out. Now I see Dr. Wing in Sherman Oaks and have had no problems. I just go to the doctor without any complications. I show up, the doctor sees me in about 5 to 10 minutes and I'm out of there. It's very simple.

My first impression of Pacific Oaks was good. the waiting room was nice and my appointment began on time. Dr. Skiba, was yes cute, but not very ""on the ball"". I was less them inpresed with him. Then when I was checking out I was handed a bill for over $600. My insurance covers the entire cost of a physical and lab fees and that was all I asked for. I was forced to pay. I called my insurance to confrim that i was not supposed to pay for anything. When I called Pacific Oaks back, they argued with me and refused to call my insurance to check. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone was also yelling at me through this conversation. Some of the WORST customer service I have ever recieved. Then once I had my insurance call them. the told me they did lab work not inculded in the basic physical, and they had to charge me for 2 visits so they could get paid. I told them to cancel the lab work, because I did not want any thing over the basic physical. They refused. I will not go back nor would I let a friend go to this practice.

After years of being shuffled in and out of various doctors' offices with no more than a ""what's the problem? okay, here's a prescription"" & a pat on the back, I've finally found true health care with Dr. Skiba and the Pacific Oaks Medical Group. Doc was ON IT from the word go. I went in with an upper respiratory infection, fully expecting the usual 5 minutes with no eye contact and no questions about my history, ""here's some meds, out you go"". What I got was the complete opposite - they took a full, thorough history, asked me tons of questions, did a full physical and bloodwork. And thank god -- turned out I had some previously undetected health issues which could, in the end, explain a lot of things about my health and eventually lead to a great improvement in my general well being. No other doctor has ever taken the time.
Everyone there REALLY cares - you can feel it. The waiting room has a warm vibe, reception staff is wonderful. I was waiting in an exam room for the dr. and could hear another doctor in his office on the phone with a patient who was obviously asking a lot of questions. The patience and kindness in his voice as he answered every one sold me on the place within my first 5 minutes there. The care I subsequently received confirmed my feelings (Dr. Skiba's awesome!). Can't recommend these guys highly enough.

I drive 80 miles from Lake Arrowhead in San Bernardino County to Dr. Gaede at this providers office. That should tell you of how I feel of the service and commitment of the staff here. I highly recommend this office for any medical service for those, not only in L. A. but also those , like myself, that must drive to pursue quality medical care.
