I discovered this place through Groupon and I'm glad I did. Allow your eyes time to adjust when you first walk in. The building is small and intimate. The staff are very attentive, nice, and polite. The food was delicious.
We ordered the Eggplant Stuffed with Angel hair and Seafood Linguine with Diavolo Sauce. Yummy! The Eggplant was a definite winner and the seafood linguine was one of the best I've ever had. The sauce was lite but not bland and had the perfect amount of spice. Reason for -1 star is because I thought the prices could have been a bit better (a glass of Pinto Grigio was $15) and I didn't like the fact that the "service fee"/tip was included on the bill and filled out for you when you pay with credit. Other than that... I'd definitely recommend this place to a friend.

After driving by this hidden gem in Beverly Hills for a couple of years, I finally was able to check out La Dolce Vita. I had heard good things about it and a lot of lore related to it's stint as a favorite spot of the Rat Pack. It did not disappoint. Its classic Hollywood past would be enough of a reason to stop in for a visit, but don't be fooled - this is a lovely spot to dine with delicious food and a wonderful ambiance. I had the special ravioli (veal, cheese with a marsala wine sauce full of tender and tasty bits of shiitake mushrooms) - amazing! My friend went with the Veal Scallopine Marsala which was also very tasty. The wine was delicious and the house Tiramisu is not to be missed. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and very polished. Overall it was a fantastic experience and one I can't wait to repeat again very soon.

My husband and I had dinner here last week with another couple who are long-time La Dolce Vita fans. We needed to be convinced, because we usually meet at new places, but I am so glad we went. What a gem! About a dozen luxurious booths, warm lighting, unbelievable food and service, all in a setting that is straight out of another time period. It's like a beautiful jewel had been frozen in time, allowing itself to be discovered and enjoyed by a select few. It dates back to the 60s and is a classic. ultra low-key celeb hangout (the night we were there, we sat a few feet away from Nancy Reagan, chatting with friends in a booth with a brass plaque proclaiming it The Reagan Booth!). It's known as Sinatra's home base. No sign out front, just a black door. We felt special just being there. Food was old world Northern Italian made with a true sense of artistry. Even something as omni-present as deep fried calamari was a gift. The drinks were potent and delicious. The salad was made at our table and was literally the best Caesar I've ever had...unbelievable. The owner, Alessandro, a delicate man with a soft voice and a warm smile, dropped by our table. He introduced himself and seemed to genuinely care about the quality of our experience. He told us that, when he bought the place several years ago, his goal was to maintain it as it had always had been, an escape from the real world to a better time. Mission accomplished. We stayed over three hours. We loved it and can't wait to return. Even the valets, who said they have been there for years, were delightful. Thanks, La Dolce Vita.

The food is mediocre and the service is horrible. I was with a group for my friend's 21st birthday. We were all dressed in cocktail dresses and heels and the boys all had on slacks, ties and jackets. She was very excited to go and then the waiters and manager stood over us the whole time and tried to charge us $10 dollars to split a plate. They acted like money was an issue for us because we were a group of young college students and we all felt very offended. We researched the restaurant we knew the prices and we didn't appreciate being judged based on our appearance.

What a treat to sit in a restaurant that was a second home to Sinatra and other Hollywood legends. While most of the historic LA restaurants have closed or reinvented themselves, kudos to the owners and staff for maintaining the quality of service and food that made La Dolce Vita famous in the first place. The fried clams and veal Milanese were absolutely wonderful and paired perfectly with the sommelier's wine recommendation. An experience I look forward to having again soon with friends. And please don't change a thing! The semi-circular burgundy booths are more comfortable than a Philippe Starck chair any day...

What do I love about this place? It is real! I would expect Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin to walk in any moment- and I heard they have in the past! Fantastic Italian food and cocktails in a very intimate, yet exciting place. Dark enough to hide, bright enough to be seen. Real booths, real waiters and really good food. Of course, having an real Italian owner is almost not fair!

I will start out by saying I do not write reviews however I felt the need to with La Dolce Vita. As soon as you walk in the atmosphere speaks for itself. It's definitely warm, welcoming, elegant and classy. As for the service I will say the same with the addition of personable. If you know the saying ""You get what you pay for"" well... Ruben surpasses this. He is not only talented but also gifted and this shines as soon as you walk in the door. I studied hospitality-culinary-hotel management here in the states as well as Europe. I have even catered the President. I am very familiar with fine dinning and had yet to have a true ""fine dining' experience here in the states until now. Ruben and I discussed Tiramisu. Every place always states it is the real thing however I have had yet to have the ""real thing"" here in the states. Well.. this changed after eating at La Dolce Vita.. Ruben nailed it! I have the original receipt from Italy and make this myself. I highly recommend La Dolce Vita to anyone regardless of the occasion. Ruben is truly one of a kind!

I was visiting friends, and they suggested to dine here. Let me tell you that the setting reminded me of Old Hollywood. It is a very elegant and classy place. It is packed on weekends, you really have to make reservations beforehand. The wait staff is superfriendly, great customer service. The food is excellent. For my next trip to California, I will definitely stop by!

I just left a review for another restaurant and then I got to thinking, ""Did I leave a review on that great place I was at last year?
I and others tend to give a shout-out to the bad places and neglect to give one to the good ones.
I didn't leave a review when I had a fantastic meal there at La Dolce Vita, ast year. I went back the next evening again and had just as good dining experience.
There are previous posts stating bad service and quality at LDV. You can have a bad meal anywhere from time to time.
I was in LA last month. The person I was visiting insisted on going to Mr. Chow's and it was horrible on so many levels, I'm never going back there again. I?m sticking with what I know. I?m going back to LDV the next time in L.A.
Anyway, from the bulk of the eviews of La Dolce Vita it seems like this place is still fantastic.
It's not a see and be seen kind of place and that's an added thing I like about it.
When I was there the food, service and value was extraordinary & I made a point of making a note of it in my PDA. The Maitre D' Ruben who has been there for 35 years treated me like a super somebody when I?m just a schnook from Chicago. I also noted the bartender Trisha was fabulous as I waited to be seated.
Some posters have referred to the place as a retirement home. How shallow and petty. One thing I remember that still brings a smile to my face was the couple sitting in the booth across from me when I was there last year. They had to be in their late seventies. They were dressed to the nines, hair perfectly coiffed. What I noted at the time and what was so endearing was that this was obviously their regular place; sitting in their regular booth, and they were chatting with each other with an energy and fondness for one another that I thought at the time you don't even see in young people these days. It was a great thing to experience.
Give this place a try.
