I went to Monro back in august to get an inspection done on my 2006 Honda civic. I passed emissions just fine, i failed the safety which i new there was one thing i new probably wouldn't pass but i chanced it. So it ended up i needed a brake light, fog lights were not working and i needed new rear rotors and pads. Well when i was being told about the brakes over the phone, i asked whats wrong with them. I was vaguely told that they had rust on them with alot of ummms and you know's added in then being told that it will diminish stopping. Then i was quickly told that it would be about $550 parts and labor to fix that with the question do you want us to go ahead and fix that. NOPE. I'm mechanically inclined and know better. I just replaced all four brakes and rotors a year ago/15,000 miles will all premium parts. Isn't weird that my fronts passed but my rears didn't. Well i took it home and double checked it maybe he was right. Nope just the normal rust you get in the northeast, pads were fine rotors were smooth. So i just fixed the fogs and brake light and took it to Honda, passed with flying colors of course. So lesson learned here they will just milk you for money. I'm just going to dealerships for now on, thought i could trust a place across the street. But if you do decide to go here PLEASE PLEASE get a second opinion before dropping hundreds or thousands of dollars.
NEVER go to this Monro. I took my car there for a routine oil change and they racked up a bill over $600. I checked out pricing for the parts after the fact and found that they price gouged the crap out of me. Their parts were marked up almost triple what it would have cost me at the dealer PLUS the labor costs to install. Not to mention the dealer already marks their parts up double for retail. Don't trust these idiots they'll pull one over on you.
