River Run Kennels

I cannot believe some of the bad comments written on this site. My dog, Mia,absolutely loves this kennel: as another person wrote the dogs can’t wait to get inside the kennel and start playing in the back yard. The staff are friendly and luv to see Mia come in for the day. Mia always has a great time mingling with the other dogs. I would never leave Mia anywhere else.
I have used this business in the past. Was not thrilled with the way they made my Dogs food outside on the porch . I took a detoured of the place and was taken back by the outside play area that sold me plus it was close . I admit I had a bad feeling leaving her twice in their care .I was taking by to their the staff and felt it was myself . I didn't feel warm or at ease. I picked her up and she was OK but again not friendly. I also noticed they over change me on few things . Live and you learn. I writing this review on a personal review and not because of the news or their lack of care . That is very sad and heartbreaking to the love ones . I also shocked that they are still in business. The owners speeds down the road like she owns it and does not care who is in the road . The reputation from local vets also does not care or trust them ether. My dog is now,11 and was 7 when I left her twice . I wish I didn't and just drive right by .
I'm sure people posting the bad reviews never even stepped inside this facility. I brought my dog there for over 12 years and he absolutely loved going and loved the employees. They were so good to him and made sure he got all his medication and snacks. They also did all his grooming which was superb. The employees all came to say goodbye the day he died and you could tell the love they had for him because they were all crying. So if you have not had a real experience with this place don't post a bad review.

I had mixed reviews about this place, but once I stepped onto the property and met a few of the people who work here, my fears were dashed.
The staff members were friendly, thorough, and knowledgeable. They told me everything I needed to know, and double-checked everything too.
When I picked up Lola, my 3.5 year old pitbull, she didn't run to me immediately - she was having too much fun running around the place, sniffing at everything. Only when I called her did she finally see me, and boy was she happy! I didn't have her bathed, but she didn't stink like she has in the past from being kenneled in other places. And the gentleman who signed me out said there were quite a few pits in the kennel, which is a good sign. Pits can get pretty aggressive in social situations, so to have a place with that many is a good indication that the staff know what they're doing, and the accommodations are ideal.
Also, I know she was exercised pretty well because after the initial happy dance of being home, she passed out on the couch for the rest of the day!
Will definitely be bringing Lola back to River Run!

Wow, i can't believe these reviews! I have been going to River Run for years and i never saw these-i don't know anyone who isn't happy leaving their pet at there! I was online searching for the website the receptionist said is coming when this came up. Ijust had to say i have had really great experiences here consistently. Last year we lost our beloved dog Bailey to cancer who did daycare at the kennel for two years and boarded several times. She almost would jump out the window with excitement when we turned down the road to the kennel! The owner of the kennel sent a lovely card to us for our loss and although Bailey will never be replaced we are bringin our new puppy to daycare this year and she loves it! I recommend it to any one i know with dogs.
I have boarded my two dogs at River Run on many occasions over the past several years. One of my dogs is quite difficult (cage aggression). The staff is courteous and professional and the facility is clean. They have been very accomodating when it comes to "special" feeding requests and bedding needs. I have been allowed to go back to the kennel area to place my own dog in his run - the facility is very clean. I wish there was a little more flexibility when it comes to pick-up times/weekend pick-ups, but this may be the industry standard. I would recommend the facility. If you have concerns I would suggest you speak with the owner - don't just rely on a negative review. It has been my experience that some dog owners have unreasonable expectations when it comes to boarding their pets and would be better off looking in to the newer (and VERY expensive) "home inclusion" options.

I brought my dog there for grooming for years as he was difficult to handle but Karen always did an excellent job with him.
After Karen left we dealt with two more groomers and and the second one shaved my dog so bare and roughly that he broke out in a a razor rash all over and had to be treated with antibiotics for months.
I was not pleased with the manner in which my concerns were handled by the staff.
Thank god we found Karen again.

this is the only place i would ever leave my dog. i don't care about the lies that people tell about their dogs coming home injured and sick because its probably not true. I'm sure half the people would cause such a ruckus if the kennel gave the dogs their personal favorite items and they were lost. the brochure clearly states that the kennel provides everything needed for the dogs stay. the dogs have a happy and healthy stay every time in my eyes.
We would NEVER go on vacation if we didn't have River Run Kennels to leave our dogs. Our experiences there are always exceptional. They've accommodated us on numerous occasions from last minute emergencies to complicated medication schedules for our pets. This place is definitely worth the drive if you don't happen to live nearby.
I brought my two dogs in last year for baths and they were only there for 3 hours but right after their visit developed scarcoptic mange caused by mites they received from River Run.
They lost most of their hair and some of it is still not growing back properly.
I spent hundreds of dollars at the vets and months to rid my dogs of this infliction.
I would not leave my dog in their care again for even 5 minutes.

The staff is not very pet savvy as far as safety and health is concerned they let my dog suffer with an infected abscess without seeking veterinary care while it was boarding for over a week. I would never leave anything I love there again and strongly discourage anyone who asks not to either.

I have been boarding my dog there for many years. I also have him groomed and he attends day care every week... You can say he's a regular there, his home away from home. The staff is wonderful to me and to him. He can't wait to get there in the morning and he is always tired and happy when I pick him up. It's not just a beautiful place to be, it's the whole package. I can see how much my dog loves the staff and they him. I also realize that some people frown on day care, that it may not be safe to have ten or so dogs running around, jumping and playing all day, injuries may occur, they are dogs after all! I talked at length with the day care staff, viewed all the pictures and toured the day care play yards and I am very satisfied that their only mission is to provide a day of fun for my pet! Which I can't always give him, (he's young and very active) he has injured himself in our own backyard - just being a dog!

It isn't often that you find a place where you can leave your dog and spend you're vacation worryfree. But at River Run you can. We have been using them for almost 5 years now and we tell everyone we know - that doesn't already know - that they have the best facilityand grounds and services. We used to leave our dog with dog sitters and had one bad experience after another. Our dog is always happy to go which always makes us happy to go!
