The concept of pieology is to design your own pizza. For a set price ($8.65) you chose your crust, sauce, cheese, meat, and other toppings and then it gets baked in the pizza oven. The pizza is about 11 inches in diameter. More than enough for one person although the crust is thin so you don't fill up on that. They also have a build-your-own-salad.
We had a fabulous dinner at the legendary Chez Panisse. It more than lived up to the hype. We ate in the "cafe" upstairs where you have more menu choices than the downstairs restaurant. I had the grilled porcini mushrooms with chicories, crispy polenta, cannellini beans and Parmesan. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. Of course we had to try the wonderful desserts as well.
An incredible variety of what seems like hundreds of cheeses. The most difficult thing is trying to decide which one you want to try. They also sell fresh breads and pastries and have an espresso bar. Well worth a stop.

I love the pizza at North Beach.. I was soo happy to find them in Berkeley.. the pizza is delish.. its ALWAYS SUPER CHEESY and meaty, so please dont ever order extra on anything cause I promise it has enough.. Some of the staff are extremely rude but once u get the pizza... you will probably excuse their behavior.. lol
