Our son was referred to Dr. Fowler for a checkup, but Dr. Fowler did not participate in our insurance plan. After the brief visit, we were billed $200. Clearly, we were obligated to pay the bill, and were prepared to do so. However, we thought it was rather expensive.



We called and spoke to the doctor's office person and asked if, under the circumstances, the doctor could discount the bill. She said she would "axe" the doctor and get back to us. We waited several months and heard nothing.



Last week we received a letter from a collection agency demanding payment and threatening to file a negative credit report! You have to understand that my wife and I have never missed a mortgage payment in our life, and have always paid every credit card billl on time. We have NEVER had one complaint about a payment. So, you can imagine we were more than a bit pissed.



When I called Dr. Fowler's office to ask why we never heard back, the office person - and there is only one office person - said in a snippy voice, "Well, I just didn't." That's right. "Well, I just didn't."



Talk about lousy service and lazy employees. The lady remembered our situation immediately, but didn't have the basic customer service skills to call us back with a response to our request. One lousy phone call. Oh, well, I guess she was just WAY too busy.



I make no comment on Dr. Fowler's professional abilities, other than the poor judgement he exercised in hiring this individual. I simply suggest to you that, if you value customer service, you take your business elsewhere.
