When a car is damaged by an accident or weather, what can be repaired and what must be replaced? Or is it time to buy a new car?
No matter whether an accident involved a freshly licensed teen or an experienced driver, knowing what to do (or not do) is essential to bouncing back.
All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
I have been taking my car here for the last couple of years and have received nothing but great service. Most recently I brought my car in for a brake service as they were squealing a lot. They called me shortly after I dropped off my car and informed me my brakes were still in really good condition, but my back brakes had some dust build up. They removed my brakes, cleaned them, and re-installed them and told me the service was free as no actual repair/replacement was needed. Another example of how they are NOT in the business of ripping their customers off, I brought my wife's 2 year old car in a few months ago as it was idling hard and the shifting was a little rough. They checked out the car, informed me they did experience a cylinder misfire, but everything else on the car was in great condition. They reminded me the car was still under warranty from the dealer we purchased from and recommended contacting them and requesting a type of car-computer reset (which often corrects the type of problem we were experiencing) which would be covered under our warranty. Again, no fee charged for the inspection work they completed. Instead, they offered advice that was in my best interest. When they have completed work on my vehicles, it has always been timely, they have always professionally communicated the work being performed and their prices have always been great. They also often apply discounts and coupons to my bill even though I have never presented one when bringing my car in for service. In summary, this is a great neighborhood auto shop with great mechanics who have really taken care of me and my vehicles.
I have to agree.....Hands down best in Bensalem!!!!!! I looked around town and used Knights because of the state of the art facility they have. The Car-tronic blue tooth measuring system was impressive to say the least! Let alone the waterbourne paint they use! They had me in and out with no problems. Even did additional work with no charge for me. WOW!! I would highly recomend. Mike the Owner really knows his stuff!! A true proffessional. Its a shame there are idiots that get their car towed by the twp. for drugs and get mad at the towing service at Knights for providing a service for the twp. I asked about the review that bumboy left and the name says it all! He was arested for drugs. Knights has no interest in taking junk cars from people or the trash left in them. Think about it.....if they where not on the up and up how would they tow for so many police departments? Makes sence to me. I whitnessed the people they have to deal with while at the shop. UNREAL!!!
I had the most prompt service on short notice 05/27/2107. My sister in -laws SUV was making noise and I couldn't ID it. I took it too Bensalem Auto care for a diagnosis. The Mechanic on duty (Tom, master technician ) was alone at the time. I told him to see what he could do. He called back shortly there after to explain the problems associated with the noise and said he would check to see if anything else was causing it. He found a broken Trans axle bracket and was able to repair it promptly. He found other problems that I wasn't aware of. I'm glad that he was able to find and repair the SUV so quickly on a Holiday weekend! The cost was reasonable too. I'm especially glad that he was able to diagnose & repair it that day! I found them to be very capable & competent in diagnosing my problems and repairing them expertly. I glad to have them so close to me. I wholeheartedly recommend them for all types of service! Sincerely, Tom Hoffman .
Our wedding was Friday, November 4th at 6pm. It was during the Septa strike and rush hour, but our wedding without a hitch because of the great services of limo today. We had a limo bus for the bridal party and shuttle service before and after our reception for our guests. The shuttle did continuous trips from the hotel to venue. Our limo bus took us to a few photo locations then dropped us off at the venue. From the day I requested a quote to the day of the wedding everyone at Limo Today were fantastic to work with. They worked with us to help with perfect timing and even gave us an extra half hour to help with the shuttle service. The drivers called the day before to confirm all details. The drivers were on time and very respectful and polite. We could not be happier with all the services provided by limo today. We highly recommend them!
The Fuhrs provided quick, excellent feedback to my level of understanding. Their concern as I looked to buy a used car was to tell me the exact condition of the vehicle. No beating around the bush with these guys. Great, responsive customer service. Definitely a family business environment but they get the job done and care about giving real value. Steve helped point out a potentially disastrous purchase of a vehicle that the dealership said had no defects. He explained the situation clearly and picked up the phone multiple times later that day to answer my questions as I further investigated at the dealership. He even helped explain to the dealership mechanics what I couldn't–––why he thought the car had a defect. Very helpful at a reasonable cost.
First of all there is a nice, clean bathroom in Bensalem Auto Care which I have used already. Not only is there an auto repair shop, but Gulf gas pumps and a convenient store also.I have had my brakes done at Bensalem Auto Care and the prices were Affordable and the Service was Excellent. The mechanic explained what I needed and why and being a woman taken my car to a repair shop I was not taken advantage of at all. They were very Honest , Friendly , Hardworking and I now have a new Repair Shop to take my car to knowing they made me feel safe, comfortable and did an Excellent job. No more squeaky brakes. Since then I have told all my girlfriends and family what a Great Auto Repair Shop I've found in Bensalem.
I've used Limo today on 4 occasions now ranging from Bachelor Parties to birthday parties and they always so so wonderful and easy to work with. Most recently I used them for a bachelor party on 03/05/17 and used their 20 person party bus which was in great condition. Unfortunately I do not remember the drivers name (as it was a bachelor party) but he was awesome to deal with. Punctual, always responsive to texts when the party wanted to move to the next location and was there at a drop of the hat for us. I would absolutely recommend Limo today to anyone. Glen, Dawn and the rest of the office staff are always great to deal with. I never see a reason to shop other companies. They would beat their prices always
Was back again. These guys aim to please. My 7series Bmw had a collision with a giant deer. Almost 7k in damages. They had it done on time. Even did a little extra repair on my rear bumper for free! Who does that. The owner knows how to keep you coming there. They even where able to have it inspected before I picked it up. PLEASE PEOPLE USE YOUR HEAD. ANYBODY CAN POST ON THESE SITES AND IF KNIGHTS DID WHAT THE POST BEFORE MINE DID.....I think you would have read about it in the paper?? There the biggest and busiest shop in bensalem! Not to mention the BEST!!! Of course they have haters! Lol
I would like to start by saying I was very impressed with my service. I am only giving a 4 instead of 5 because they did go over the estimated time that was given to fix my car. With that said the car looked great. Great paint job you couldn't tell that repair work had been done and they also took the liberty of vacuuming out the inside of my car. Most places were charging me $1300 to replace the hood. These guys only charged me $400 and vacuumed the car. Great deal my only word of advice is constantly call about updates to your car.
I hired LimoToday for a shuttle service on my wedding day transporting guests from a hotel to the wedding location 2 hours before it started and picking up guests after the wedding/reception and bringing them back to the hotel for the last 2 hours. The passenger van I rented, comfortably sat 12-13 guests each trip and was very clean as well as a newer model vehicle. The driver arrived 15 minutes early on both occasions and was professional. My experience was with LimoToday was excellent and all my guests were happy with the service.
Mistakes happen, and when it comes to owning a carpet or rug, mistakes usually mean stains. The plush softness of carpet and rugs comes with a price: the time and care required to clean them. Cleaning your carpet or rugs can require some extra work and special techniques that differ from typical hardwood or tile floors. In some cases, you may even need to hire a professional to get the best results.
For minor stains or routine cleaning, it's possible to effectively treat a carpet or rug yourself. If a thorough vacuuming doesn't get rid of dirt in certain areas, here's how to tackle them on your own.
A number of liquids can stain carpet or rug materials, including wine, coffee, nail polish, or blood, to name a few. Depending on what caused the stain, the carpet or rug's material, and how long it's been there, you may need to use different techniques or cleaning supplies to get rid of it. In general, though, keep the following ground rules in mind for stain removal:
Take these steps to remove a stain as soon as possible to prevent drying.
Some stains may come out with little more than water or a mild soap. More serious stains may require a solvent to make removal easier. The best solvent to use depends on what caused the stain.
-Water-soluble stains: These include berries, cola, food dye, jelly, mud, washable ink, or wet paint. Mix a solution of 1/4-teaspoon nonbleach detergent (or white vinegar) with 32 ounces of water.
-Dark water-soluble stains: Chocolate, coffee, mustard, tea, wine, and bodily fluids often stain much more readily than other water-soluble materials and need a different solvent. Use 1 tablespoon of ammonia mixed in 1 cup of water first. If this doesn't work, try combining one part chlorine bleach with five parts water. These solvents may remove color from certain fabrics like wool, so check with the manufacturer for the best cleaning method.
-Oils and waxes: This would include glue, gum, nail polish, and cigarette residue. The best way to clean each of these varies - some may need to be simply scraped off or, if possible, frozen to make it brittle and then chipped away. Most glue can be dissolved and removed using a solvent like rubbing alcohol. Nail polish may also be dissolved using rubbing alcohol or with nail polish remover containing acetone.
Unfortunately, some stains may prove difficult to remove using household products. In any case, vacuuming and spot cleaning may not be enough to get your carpet or rug looking like new again. That's why many homeowners opt to hire a professional carpet cleaning service on a regular basis, around once every 12 to 18 months.
When it comes to heavy-duty carpet cleaning, you have many options to pick from. The two most common methods for cleaning carpets are steam cleaning and dry cleaning.
Steam cleaning is a common method for professional carpet cleaning, but the name is somewhat misleading. Steam-cleaning services use machines that utilize hot (but not boiling) water in combination with a vacuum. The water is heated inside the machine and sometimes mixed with detergent before being sprayed directly onto the carpet. At the same time, a vacuum sucks up the water almost immediately after hitting the fabric. The hot water extracts far more dirt and stains than would be possible by hand.
Cleaning machines using hot water extraction can be purchased or rented for home use, but they aren't always as powerful as what professional cleaning services use. Improperly drying the carpet may also cause bacteria or mold growth. Professional cleaners also employ a number of other methods to pre-treat the carpet and ensure adequate drying. For these reasons, professional carpet cleaning may be preferable to do-it-yourself methods.
Carpets or rugs can also be thoroughly cleaned using a dry-cleaning method. As the name suggests, there is much less water involved in dry cleaning, which means the carpet can be ready to use in less time. Using powerful solvents to break down dirt and stains, dry cleaning puts less physical stress on the carpet, and thus might be better in the long run. However, dry cleaning is usually more expensive than hot-water cleaning services. In addition, the chemicals used to dry clean carpets might irritate pets, people with sensitive skin, or anyone sensitive to strong odors.
Before choosing a professional carpet cleaning service, make sure you will be getting what you paid for by asking the right questions and doing your homework.
Again, there are pros and cons involved in using a hot-water-based cleaning service or dry cleaning. Take into consideration not only cost, but how long the process will take from start to finish, including drying time. Also take note of the material your carpet is made from, and consult the manufacturer if possible to learn about the best ways to clean it. If you or your family is sensitive to any chemicals, be sure to keep this in mind and ask about what chemicals are used.
You can find reviews of most professional carpet-cleaning services online, as well as information about a company's specific process, the chemicals used, and cost. It's also wise to ask friends and family members about services they've used in the past to get a recommendation. Don't always go with the service offering the lowest price, or hire a service who advertises door-to-door or over the phone, unless you have done thorough research on them.
Carpet cleaning services will be entering your home, potentially while you aren't there, so you want to feel comfortable with the business you trust with this responsibility. Ask if the company conducts background checks on employees, as well as if they are insured in your state. Without liability insurance, a mistake that results in damage to your home or furniture may be your responsibility to pay for.
If you've found a carpet-cleaning service you can trust, ask to get a quote. This may involve specifying exactly what services you would like performed, as well as the size of your home's carpeted area. Make sure you understand exactly what is included in a quoted price. Some businesses may charge extra to move furniture, clean stairs, or use special treatment methods. It's also common for businesses to sell customers on products and services they don't need. Don't hesitate to ask questions if any detail about the quote is unclear.
If you instead want to rent or buy a carpet-cleaning machine to use yourself, you have many options to pick from.
Since heavy-duty carpet cleaning isn't a frequent activity for most homeowners, many choose to simply rent one of these machines. Of course, renting is usually much cheaper than owning a machine or hiring a service, which is the biggest advantage in this situation. But not all rental units perform equally, and some might require extra drying time or the use of special solvents that will cost more. There's also the time and effort that goes into carpet cleaning - renting a unit means you must also move furniture yourself and pay close attention to ensure you're operating the unit correctly. Making a mistake could mean damaging your carpet or the unit itself. Also, improperly drying carpet could allow harmful bacteria and mold to grow. Before renting a carpet cleaner, make sure you're up for the task at hand.
Homeowners can purchase carpet cleaners ranging from compact units to full-size industrial-strength machines. Besides price, take note of the features of a unit and compare them to what you most need from a carpet cleaner. Some models specialize in removing allergens from pet hair, while others may work better on tough stains, for example. Another key consideration: Make sure you have room for it. Some carpet cleaners can be bulky and require ample storage space.
Other features you may want to look for in a cleaning unit include:
Make the right choice in carpet cleaners by considering all the options available to you and how they fit into your needs and budget.
