Best dentist I have had in 10 years

I used to have a great dentist who moved out. I found Bel Red dentists from a referral and am glad to have found a dentist that cares.

Very practical care and they don't try to do anything excessive to simply make more money.

Clean and thorough job. Best of all they are open on saturdays.

Dental Examination
Gum disease is diagnosed through a periodontal exam. A small probe is used to measure the depth or pocket space between your gums and teeth. The deeper the pockets, the more chance for gum disease – pockets deeper than three millimeters are usually cause for concern.
X-rays
Generally, the dentist only needs to take a full set of x-rays every three to five years, and bite-wing x-rays (top and bottom side teeth that bite together) during regularly scheduled check-ups. More x-rays may be required occasionally, depending on individual patient needs.
Oral Cancer Screening
Next, full-mouth x-rays and a comprehensive exam of your teeth, gums, mouth, and jaws will be performed, including a non-invasive oral cancer screening.

Teeth Cleaning
Regular teeth cleanings by your hygienist is a vital part of fighting off gingivitis (gum inflammation) and periodontal disease (gum disease). If you don't thoroughly remove all the bacteria in your mouth, it will accumulate, motivating gum inflammation. If left untreated, this inflammation can sprout into gum disease. Gum disease causes the gums around your teeth to become lose and degenerate - which will eventually mobilize tooth loss.

Fillings
Veneers
Veneers can be used to cover discolored, stained, and chipped teeth, and also to camouflage unsightly gaps or misshapen teeth. They are made from durable porcelain that is bonded directly onto the front of your teeth. Veneers are not permanent and will need eventual replacing, but they will give you a bright, white smile for many years.
Crowns
Soft Tissue Impaction – Though the crown of the tooth has broken the surface, a portion of gum still covers part of the tooth. Food can become trapped in the gum flap allowing for decay and infection.
Bridges
Fixed bridges are a non-removable option to replace missing teeth. They are comprised of two crowns affixed to neighboring – or anchoring teeth. The artificial teeth then sit in between, replacing the missing teeth. They are strong and durable, but will need to be replaced after many years.

Root Canal Treatment
When a tooth becomes infected or severely decayed, a root canal is often required to save it. The “root canal” is the natural cavity in the center of the tooth, with a soft chamber containing pulpy tissue and the tooth’s nerve.

If the inflammation has slightly advanced to into gum disease, a deeper cleaning – scaling and root planning – is necessary. This process calls for numbing your gums to remove tartar and plaque above and below the gum line. Dr. Gilbreath or Dr. Craig may also be advise you to use medicated mouth rinses and electric tooth brushes to promote healing and contain infection.

Dentures
They don’t rely on the surrounding teeth for support (like bridges and dentures do), and they also help protect your neighboring teeth by providing a solid foundation. Since they are implanted right into your jaw, they give your bone something to grow on to, reducing your chance of bone loss. Without a root (or titanium post) in the jaw for bone to grow onto, bone loss will occur, which will eventually lead to more tooth loss and more bone loss -- a vicious cycling leaving you with an empty mouth.

Dental Implants
But with an implant, the titanium posts are coated with a stimulant to promote bone growth. Your body actually bonds with the posts as it would with a real tooth root, yet it’s stronger that a natural root and tooth -- like a bionic tooth.
