The only good thing about our experience at this diner was the waitress. She was attentive and friendly, and when we complained about the pancakes, she immediately took them off our table and off our bill. I wish I had gotten her name!
Every other aspect of that meal was a bust. The beef in my tri-tip scramble was tough (did they cook it by boiling it?!), the country gravy was bland and flavorless, and the pancakes were undercooked. To top it all off, the manager wouldn’t honor the coupon our realtor had given us. He came to our table and claimed that they had been “getting a flood” of these coupons lately and that they were only distributed to one real estate agent 4 years ago when the diner first opened. Never mind that the coupon had NO EXPIRATION DATE and was even signed by the owner! He then went on to demean our realtor, insinuating that she must have grabbed the coupons off the desk of this agent after he left the company and started distributing them willy-nilly. We were blown away by his unprofessionalism! Even if what he said was true, he should have honored the coupon and taken up this issue with the real estate company that received these coupons. Both our realtor and other customers of hers have recently used these coupons without any complaint or comment from the diner. Even our wonderful waitress agreed that the diner should have honored our coupon. Maybe the owner should make her the manager and fire the idiot who’s currently running the place! Obviously, we won’t be back, and we’ll be warning our friends away from this diner, too.

I have been going to there for breakfast for a while and didnt ever think to go there for a later meal but when it was my birthday i went there and was very impressed. The food was amazing and everyone tried to help you out. They also have an amazing size plate that they actually fill up and send out. Fun place to take the family and the people there are amazing.

I have been to this place a couple of times. The first time I ordered breakfast - SUCESS! The following two times, I ordered lunch - EW. I actually ventured to tell the waitress that I did not like the beef dip. She asked me why I hadn't told her when she asked earlier. That was unexpected. I let her know that I was still figuring out whether I liked it or not. While I thought I was being helpful, I was made a public example; she was overly assertive and informed the whole restaurant as to what she could have done, if she knew I was unhappy - earlier. Guess what - you can still discount my meal, or give me some incentive to come back! Maybe consider that option next time....only there will not be a next time. Good breakfast.

Wow, I was impressed. I thought I'd try the place becasue of all the adorable black bears theme. I figured that even if they served a cardboard tasting burger I wanted to try it for the atmosphere. It was real beef though, and very fresh lettus and such. The waitresses were so very sweet, and there's so much to look at, Bear carvings hang on posts carved to look like bear cubs on trees. There were murals too. All around it reminded me of a really great diner from my childhood and was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy conversation. I didn't mind sitting through the whole meal knowing the rest of my errands could wait. We also bought some of the habenero sauce. YUMMY! I'll be going there more often.

Whenever I am in the neighborhood, I like to eat at the Black Bear Diner. A business associate was staying at the Comfort Inn next door and I had a few meals with him there. The service is friendly and the food is good. The portions are huge, so be prepared to take some home with you!

Black Bear has a neat atmosphere for a diner with log furniture decor and a mountain theme.
Their menu selection is huge - enough to please everyone. Their lunch and dinner entrees actually aren't bad but this place stands out a as a breakfast restaurant. The portion sizes are also huge.
Healthier choices such as fresh squeezed orange juice, 7 grain pancakes and fruit are a big plus.
Service is short but courteous as is typical for a busy diner.
Be prepared for a 15-20 minute wait on weekend mornings.

I called in a take-out order of pancakes and a bear claw. The phones were manned by a giggly, dumb, unprofessional girl who didn't even know that her work served breakfast all day, and didn't seem to care that she didn't know, and her faithful counterpart. I had my bf pick the order up for me. What I got were some lonely pancakes, no bear claw, and an unitemized receipt. I always check my orders before I leave, but the bear claw was to be a tasty surprise for the bf, so he hadn't been missing it.
I called the diner to politely inform them that they messed up my order. I asked them how much the granola pancakes were that I had ordered. They told me they were ""kinda busy."" I heard snide comments by Dumb Girl in the background saying, ""Come in and look at a menu yourself"" and ""kinda annoying."" I was told to look online for the prices. I told them I looked at the menus there, but there were no prices. Then they tell me to look at THEIR website (oh, my bad). Finally, DG's male half had magically found menu prices for their restaurant (I don't even care). When he realized I'd been overcharged, I asked if they could credit my card or something. He said he'd have to talk to his manager. Then he said ,""Just bring in the receipt."" I paused while I wondered whether my bf wants to come back to this, and I live 30+ away and it wouldn't be pretty, so then he said, ""Bye"", and hung up. Nice folks.

Black Bear Diner is a great place to not only great breakfast but it's also a good place to get lunch or dinner. Black Bear's service is sometimes a little slow but the service staff will do anything to make your meal better. The last time we were there I ordered a ceasar salad with salmon. The salmon wasn't as good as I thought it would be, our waitress brought me a plate to put the salmon on and also brought me some grilled chicken and didn't charge me extra for the chicken. She also offered to get me something else. Black Bear's portions are HUGE as well, so if you're a big eater its a great place.
