Just left the Tuckers restaurant and felt it was my duty to inform other patrons of how badly we were treated tonight. Made reservations for family of 12 for 8 pm and waited an hour for appetizers, 2 hours for dinner. Our kids were starving our appetizers, drinks and meals were served in pieces. Our bill was $390 without tip. When we asked to talk to management about out complaints he defensively said he couldn't do anything about it. expecting an apology instead defended the long wait due to being short handed and he offered us nothing in return. Guess what?... We will never return either!!!

I guess it doesn't matter to the little people in charge of their noisy stuffy tavern if one has been a patron for a large number of years. One occasion where ""the customer is always right"" I was embarrassed in front of family and friends over a mistake on our bill (over $20.00) and then bullied out of their establishment over seating arrangements, which were set up by their staff. Will not return even though it has been a gathering place for friends and family for over 12 years. I turned the cheek once to satisfy others, this time it's their loss of not only a good but loyal customer who had averaged once a week at their establishment. Only small minded management could cause problems like this, an easily remedied situation turn bad...will miss ya Smitty and folks especially the complimentary coasters!

Tuckers is an island institution, even if it is relatively new. The expansive bar and large dining rooms attract a big crowd in the summer, but the local crowd knows a few tricks. First, they have a great happy hour early in the day with drink and appetizer specials. Don't miss the Captain Crunch Chicken (ask for raspberry vinagrette on the side) and the spinach dip. If you must go at peak times, skip the two hour wait list and hang out in the bar area. All of the tables are self-seating, and there are tables big enough for 6 easily. The menu is typical American fare, featuring some good seafood, salads, and sandwiches. If you are on the island off season, stop by Tuckers- it is open year-round and sometimes the only lively spot on a deserted island.

I've been going to LBI for years and I understand things are more expensive on the island, and the restaurants charge more for various reasons. But Tuckers is basically a glorified diner and the prices are ridiculous. The prices are above and beyond anything reasonable for what you get. If any of my food was above average (which is a stretch), knowing the price I paid for what was put in front of me ruined it. My wife and I dropped $75 bucks for a meal that was worth half that. For that money I'll go to a really upscale restaurant, spend $30 or so more bucks, and be impressed and pleased.
