Absolutely love this vet clinic! All the Doctors are friendly and knowledgeable and the communication of treatments and options kept me informed. I feel this vet hospital and everyone there has your pets best care and health as the #1 priority.. I was truly bewildered after reading some of the poor reviews bashing prices etc!!?? I believe you get what you pay for and what I have experienced and what my many friends and family have experienced there is 100% value for the care and services we have received. It’s been over 8 years now and Dr Lee is a phenomenal care giver to my dog.
Sherwood South Animal Hospital is engaging in some ruthless social media self-promotion, "flagging" honest and detailed reviews about their horrible or negligent treatment of animals in an attempt to remove them. At the same time, just look at numerous 2-sentence positive reviews below that have absolutely no informational value, just to boost the rating. They read as quick ads. I've just now looked at what else these people who wrote such quick advertising reviews for Sherwood South Animal Hospital here write about other companies and (incidentally?) some of them also did the similar 2-sentence ads for the same other companies (Orthopedic & Sports Therapy of Westbank and also Kenner, LeBlanc Eye Center, and a few others). Instead of giving this clinic the preferred status based on the sheer number of these 5-star advertisements, the Real Yellow Pages should investigate into this practice of fake reports and possibly paid individuals to anonymously write positive reviews for the same companies, including this animal clinic.
Had our friend known about this self-promotional practice of this clinic, she would have never brought her ailing dog to them who tragically died in pain and suffering because of this clinic's negligent treatment. Shame on this clinic!
We thought we would have some of the best veterinary service at Sherwood South Animal Hospital when we lived in Baton Rouge but it turned out to be inhumane for our beloved dog. Though he was an older dog, he was quite healthy in every way except that he started to show a couple of symptoms for which we took him to Dr. Alfred Stevens. Instead of giving him a thorough examination and proper treatment, Dr. Stevens suggested a few possibilities in terms of the ailment and, while he mentioned a tumor as one of them, he didn't alert us as anything alarming nor did he attempt to treat our dog for a possible tumor. His general assessment was along the lines that he was an elderly dog and that the health issues are not uncommon at that stage. For months, we helplessly and desperately watched a slow deterioration in our dog's health, who bravely fought it, because of some "mystery" ailment of an elderly dog that could have struck him.
Our biggest mistake was trusting this veterinarian clinic and not going somewhere else for the second opinion right away. When we eventually did it after a few months under this clinic's "care", it turned out that our dog suffered from cancer all the time and it was too late to save him at that point. It is inexcusable for Dr. Stevens to casually treat our dog and not to take seriously his symptoms only because he was elderly. For his breed and given his excellent health in every way except for this tumor growth that could have been treated, he could have lived a few more years as a happy boy. Instead, he suffered and paid with his life while all the time we were misled to believe that it was a "normal" deterioration that comes with age. We wonder how this veterinarian would feel if he would be treated that way!
If you have an elderly pet, PLEASE read about this experience with our dog. At least that we know he didn't suffer in vain and that his death will save other dogs lives.
My dog Kipper had been brought in on Christmas Eve because of continuous vomiting along with dehydration. He had been sick for over a week. Our family Vet was very helpful in recommend Sherwood South Animal Hospital and I must say they saved my dog's life. After a couple nights in ICU with no change, we were about to give up. On Saturday, the Veterinarian decided to do a Barium test as a last resort and the results showed there was an obstruction in his intestine. Immediately after the decision for surgery was made. Dr. Lee came in on a Saturday night yo perform surgery on my fur baby. He is doing great and I owe it all to you for saving his life. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for saving his life and for making the rest of my Christmas season the best ever!!! You all are AMAZING!!!!!!!
Sherwood South is a first class veterinary hospital . Dr. Stephen Lee became my oldest dog's vet when our previous vet failed to properly diagnosis diabetes .. Which led to a 4 day ICU stay @ LSU. After this I switched her care to Dr. Lee who helped get her diabetes regulated and has kept her diabetes well regulated .. Over 6 years post diagnosis she is doing well and loves going to her vet visits with Dr, Lee. He treats my other 2 dogs as well . We drive from Lafayette to Batkn Rouge to see him and it's well worth the drive to go to SSSAH .
This was the absolute worse vet I have ever been to. The doctirs care more about money than the animals. After visiting here I have lost faith in vets and I am in school doing my general studies to become a vet. If you dont have at least 900$ on hand do not bring your sick animal here. They will suck you dry.
