Defense of BP Well Site Leader charged with 22 felony counts of manslaughter and a violation of the Clean Water Act arising from the April 2010 Deepwater Horizon accident. United States of America v. Donald Vidrine (interlocutory appeal affirming district court's dismissal of 11 felony counts reported at 780 F.3d 647). Charges concluded with plea to a single misdemeanor count.

RICHARD L. SEELMAN is a native of southern Illinois, who has lived and practiced law in New Orleans since 1990. He earned a B.A. degree in economics from Yale University, a J.D. degree from the College of William & Mary, and an L.L.M. degree in admiralty law from Tulane University School of Law. Richard is admitted to practice law in Louisiana, Alabama, and Illinois. He has focused his practice for over twenty-five years on defending major liability and workers' compensation insurance carriers and self-insured employers in state and federal workers' compensation litigation, as well as general liability personal injury cases in state and federal court. Additionally, Richard has represented numerous governmental entities in workers' compensation and liability cases.

Sydne later went on to earn her Juris Doctor degree from Tulane University Law School graduating in 2020. While in law school, she served as an Honor Board Justice from 2017-2020. Sydne was elected as the Treasurer for the Black Law Student Association for the 2018-2019 year. Sydne also served as a senior member for the Tulane Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property. During law school, Sydne externed at the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana under the supervision of the Honorable Judge Brian A. Jackson. Sydne was also a law clerk for a local personal injury firm where she primarily assisted with Workers’ Compensation and Social Security Disability claims.
