Would not recommend this place. Ordered to go. Chips were stale, ordered quest woth chips and salsa, which cost 4 bucks. Did not out quest in order but charged for it. Salsa cup was about the size of a shot glass. Beef and shrimp for fajitas was wayyyyyyyy over cooked. Last time I waste money at this place

I'm jealous of those of you who have had good service here. i have been a handful of times and have only had one decent experience out of all of them. The only reason we keep going back was because the food was cheap and tasted good. But the service is lowsy. It seems like there is one waitress in particular that we just so happen to get everytime though that really is giving this place a bad name for us. She's rude from the moment she takes your drink order to the second you step out the door. After she takes your order, you will not see her at your table again until she brings your food, which will be 30-45 minutes later. She never brought our appetizers. She will not refill your chips, salsa, or drinks while you wait. and gets an attitude when you question the eta on your food. We were on our lunch hour and had to get her to go ahead and put our food in to-go-boxes, as we were late getting back already. They ended up giving us our meal at half price- but i still feel swindled because the food was cold, and the queso that we ordered on the side was hard, like it had been sitting in the back for a while. She blamed the cook for the mishap, but in reality i think she just forgot to bring our food. in addition, my bean burrito tasted like soap suds. And, as we had lots of idle time while we waited for our food, we notices from our table that they keep the chips in a large yellow garbage can for storage. I assume this can is clean but still...Kind of un-unsettling.
In hind sight, when we went there before for my friends birthday, this same waitress thought it would be funny if they smashed the birthday dessert in the birthday girls face...said it was a tradition of El rancho's to do this.... i don't know what she considers ""birthday fun"" but picking icecream and cornflakes out of my hair and nostrils doesn't sound like much of a party. lol
i swear i am not one to usually complain about food or service of waiters and waitress. I have many friends who wait tables and i am not dissing anyone in anyway. but if you don't like your job, find something else. This was ridiculous, and we will never go back because of her. The one decent experience of this place that we have, is when this particular waitress was not there.
i wasn't going to rate this one star, but this page requires a rating.

Like to visit and eat and drink the margaritas. 2 for 1 happy hour and fresh food. The salsa is not as good as it used to be, not chunky like it used to be, kind of tomato saucy and not chunks of tomatoes, peppers and onions. They should put the tv on closed caption and turn the volume down and have it on interesting channels for the customers or just turn it off. Food is fast served and waiters are friendly.
Visit often and lunch is fast too.

First, the food served at EL Rancho is possibly one of the best values in all of Louisiana. There is a $3.99 lunch menu that comes out in less than 10 minutes. Two for one drafts and margaritas are regular night time specials and much more. The food is a little messy, but it more than makes up for it in taste. A rebuilt restaurant and a friendly staff make this one of my favorite digs.
