2011 i had again defected Slab , mds was getting granite slabs already sold as defected and they sell it full price as good quality granite , which is at least unethical, we received this delivery and the slab was for a personal friend of mine, Dr. Wahbi and I called Ahmad the owner at mds and asked him not to charge my credit line with their company for the granite which came to me defected and he came himself while my friend Nickolas was here and he saw the slab and he said he will not Charge my account, and we had other issues with other granite we already installed for Mrs. Robbins and she said she is so happy from my work but she not happy from the defect in the slab of granite , when she saw it on the the yard such a showing difference and did not even have holes and fadding from setting out under the sun for years, after this mds still charged me for this slab! This man is not honest and i stopped doing any business with him after this experience with that type of crook! They still bad mouth me to customers and they saying they don’t do business with me couple months a go I lost big job and I lost one job last month because of that and true is I don’t do business with MDS
My company has been using Tuscan Stone Imports for years, and we've had nothing but excellent experiences with them at both locations. Since we are based out of New Orleans, most of our customer's shop at the New Orleans location for the sake of convenience. I can't convey how appreciative I am of the BR location as well because of the excellent service they provide to my out-of-town customers who always have nothing but great things to say after a visit to Tuscan. They make picking out stone material for counter-tops (which can be a stressful decision as it is sooo important) easy and even enjoyable. So many beautiful slabs to chose from! They are quick to communicate my customer's decisions with me and have a wonderful habit of following up to ensure my customer's needs are met. As far as the inner workings of the business go--pricing, pictures, holds, transfers, etc..---they are prompt to meet my needs as well which makes our job as fabricators 100x easier. I never have to chase after them for anything because they're always on top of it! Tommy (the owner) and his employees are knowledgeable, polite and always go above and beyond. It is a pleasure working with them and I recommend that any fabricators or home-owners in need of great quality and beautiful stone pay them a visit!
My experience with this business and the racist owner , has been strife, I'm a fabricator and I opened my business in Baton Rouge in 2009 and as everybody knows fabricators like myself send our customers to granite yards to choose their granite , I've lost every customer I sent there- I started to investigate! I found out Tommy repeatedly Bad mouth's me to customers and told them lies and sent them to his friends fabricators 2012 I had my management experience this-and after we stopped sending customers to this shady business , one of the salesman there came and wanted to handle sales with our business then we told him about the low life racist owner he was working with and what he did to me, he denied this and the owner Tommy himself came by to my office and my manager showed him his handwriting afterwards he denied it and when she showed him the paper he just put a star next to his friends fabricators and this customer did not want say what he told him because he said it's very bad and , when Tommy Roddy seen it he said I truly am sorry send customers and I promise this will never happen again and he did over and over again , people think I have committed some heinous act from what Tommy portrays me as and the bad businessman here is Tommy ;his pure racial bias and disrespect for American Dreams!
**Buyer Beware** See Mid City Granite's Rating of "F" at the Better Business Bureau (BBB) https://www.bbb.org/baton-rouge/business-reviews/granite/mid-city-granite-in-baton-rouge-la-90018037/reviews-and-complaints?section=complaints Walter Duke, the owner of Mid-City Granite damaged my new cabinets by putting nails through the front of the cabinets, caught a protective cover on fire with my new Samsung range which damaged the glass top, didn't install the backsplash leaving gaps on the backsides of the countertops, the low quality sink fell out, we bought the sink from Walter for $250 and there's more issues. He promised he'd repair & replace the problems, after he left our house he ignores all attempts the BBB and we've made at contacting him. We made a mistake, he was around 20% cheaper than Lowe's and he could do the install 2 days later which sold us. I would advise; pay a little more and wait for a professional to install your new granite countertops. It's normally something you'll have to live with for a long time and I promise you Walter Duke will disappoint you.
We had a terrible experience with the owner, Gary of American Granite. They installed the wrong granite. I called to let them know a mistake had been made and immediately the owner stated that I was wrong. That I had indeed "picked out the granite that was installed"(it was significantly different). He insisted that we come to the store again to pick out the granite we wanted. So, of course we did. He proceeded to yell at us in the parking lot saying he would have never sold us that granite for the price we received. Of course, we have no idea the prices because we are looking at granite slabs that are not labeled outside. Gary accused me of calling him a "liar", I was just stating that a mistake had been made and can we fix it. He lost his cool, was very unprofessional, rude and will never accept that a mistake was made from his business. There are so many places that you can get granite, why take the risk!
On 03-01-17, I contacted one of the owners(Nora O'Conner) and entered her store to make a selection of granite that I wanted for my countertops. During that time she was very rude until I explained to her that I already had my counter tops selected and was ready to pay her for her service. She then told me that she would be contacting me shortly for a measurement/installation date. However, after not hearing from her for a couple of weeks, I went back to her store to see if she could still do the work. Well, she then stated to me that the reason why I have not heard from her was because her husband(installer) did not feel comfortable coming to the my area of Baton Rouge!!!!!!! WOW! She should have told me that 3 weeks ago when we had an agreement to come to my house for measurements/installation. FYI, my area is predominately African Americans and I've been living here for over 20 years. I've never had any problems with any sub-contractors, service companies or even pizza delivery personnel.
We had countertops, bAcksplash and fireplace re-stoned, they did a really good job! Although they Left a mess, there is still a little work to be done on the firelace, final touches, she won't return our calls, won't answer the phone when we call! We went to her shop, she told us to give her two weeks, it was two weeks Friday! The excuse of the flood does not work here because of the time lapse before!! Still nothing from her!! They left our house on July 20th and haven't been back!! I would NOT recommend them for work because you cannot depend on them to finish the job!! Unhappy customer!!!

DEFINITELY USE GRANITE EXPRESS IF YOU WANT THE BEST STONE AT THE BEST PRICE!!! If you are like me with Champagne taste on a Beer budget there is NO other source for affordable granite. Then You need to send it to Roman Stone Arts for the BEST PRICE for fabricating that stone. All the others kept the savings from Granite Express and did not pass it on to me. Now I am getting the Kitchen of my dreams thanks to Granite Express!
This is a great company - family-owned and very friendly. Jennifer was especially very helpful - contacting me and meeting with me outside of normal working hours. She even gave me ideas and resources for other projects in my kitchen that I didn't need granite for! Good and efficient service.
