From Business: Our professional and caring staff takes pride in providing high quality and affordable funeral services that meet the special needs of your family. We invite you …
Resthaven funeral home should pose a sign that they only serve christians. The request for a non religious service was not honored in any way. When we arrived we had to ask for the cross that was hanging over the urn to be taken down. It must have angered jack, the supposed funeral director. As the service started it was quite obvious that they were unable to deliver. The person that they brought in to officiate began by reading scripture from the Bible and told us the tale of jesus christ bringing lazarus back from the dead. He was politely and discreetly asked by the deceased daughter not to read from the bible and informed that the service was non religious. After the children of the deceased spoke of their father and the good and bad times and how their parents met and fell in love the officiant once again took the microphone and proceeded with a lengthy prayer invoking the name of jesus as the Lord and savior again and again. This Jewish family had lost their son, husband, brother and father suddenly at. The age of 50. Their grief was compounded by the intolerance and purposeful furthering of a christian agenda. The staffs willful ignorance in this day of information was appalling and their apparent disregard for the Jewish community and the fact that they consider jesus a false prophet was disgusting. To add insult to injury the hearse sped off leaving the parents, widow, and others in the parking lot, still getting in their cars. Even the smallest request of a small amount of ashes held back for a private service was not met. Perhaps the staff here should open a church instead of a funeral home. Perhaps the owner or manager should provide some training in sensitivity, tolerance, and diversity.
