We eat here frequently when we are in Bangor, and it is always a treat. I have had a lot of the appetizers and sushi on the menu, and have enjoyed all of them. The atmosphere is quiet and nice, and we have always had excellent service. Someone else mentioned that it was very expensive and required fancy dress, but I have never found that to be true. Whenever we are there, most of the people are dressed for shopping trips, or are casually dressed college type kids. As far as prices go, they are average restaurant prices. Like any average restaurant, you can have either a fairly inexpensive meal, or a moderately expensive one, depending on what you choose. We can't afford expensive restaurants, and consider this one reasonably priced. The bento boxes are really fun, and you can choose what to have in them. Sometimes, I like to just order three different appetizers, and sample different items that way, It's always interesting and gives a nice change from the regular restaurant fare.

Their combos all come with rice and they are always good. The portion sizes are fairly large. I also recommend trying their hot and sour soup. It always hits the spot. If we are really hungry, we will sometimes order the Pu Pu platter for 2, which comes with crab rangoon, chicken wings, egg rolls, spare ribs, and chicken on a stick. It's a bit pricey (around $17), but so good and it's a lot of food! Overall, we always enjoy coming here. They do have a full bar with TVs. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is because the service can be a bit slow at times, but not always. However, we have had our fair share of slow wait staff here, but everything else has always been good, so we will continue to come back. If you are in the mood for some good Asian cuisine, definitely check this place out. Their prices are a bit higher than some of the other similar restaurants in the area, but the atmosphere and the good food definitely make it well worth it.
This is my favorite place to eat in Bangor. My boyfriend and I typically eat here twice per month. We usually get the Sushi Regular, which offers a combination of nigiri and a tuna roll. In addition we typically chose something else from the al a carte menu. The combination platter also provides a salad or miso soup. The dressing on the salad is delicious. I have never tried the miso soup here. We can usually eat there under $30 if we don't order drinks. The staff is very nice and the atmosphere is very comfortable and inviting. I also like that the menu offers a chinese selection. This way we can invite others to come with us and we know they can eat chinese in case they don't like sushi. Compared to Ichiban, I prefer Green Tea. The food is just as good, but the prices are better. And there is very little wait time for the meals and seating is always available.
Where I go on all my dates!! My favorite restaurant in Bangor. There are only two Japanese restaurants in Bangor and this one is the best. It serves both Japanese and Chinese food, which is great for my friends who are weary of sushi. Tuna tataki and a (generous portion) of seaweed salad are what I always start with. The Green Tea roll, Spicy Girl Roll and the Downeast roll (with lobster) are my favorites. Their nigiri and sashimi are HUGE portions (by sushi standards). They also have special rolls for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, etc. Be sure to ask what special items they have. Many times they have sea urchin or scallop but because they are not always available, they are not on the menu. They have a full bar too, but I've"ve never tried anything; too focused on the sushi :-) Can't leave without having a fried banana!
Having lived in the Boston and Portland area, it was sort of a culture shock arriving in Bangor. It's hard to find any good ethnic food here. While I wouldn't call Green Tea authentic, it never disappoints. It's my favorite Asian restaurant in the Bangor area. I've taken friends and family here and they have all enjoyed the food (and the scorpion bowls too). Although others may think the decor is tacky, I like their attention to detail. I also love the soundtrack they play. Overall, we always leave Green Tea happy because of the great customer service and food.
Green Tea is amazing! The highest quality Japanese and Chinese cuisine around!I can't eat Chinese food anywhere else anymore. Their combinations are amazing. I try to get something different every time, but I especially like the General Tso's Chicken combo w/ Crab Rangoon.-The restaurant itself is beautiful; with a great atmosphere.-The food is of the highest quality.-Service is out of this world.-Definitely worth the price.Everyone needs to try this place just once! It will change your view of oriental cuisine forever. I am glad I only live 35 minutes away.
Great place to eat sushi!!! Prices are fair for what you get, good portions. The fish is great quality and extremely fresh! I live about 4 hours north of any place that serves sushi, every time I go through Bangor, this is where I eat. Used to live in Hawaii for more than a few years so I know fresh fish. Cannot say one bad thing about Green Tea I love it. The owners are always on it trying to bring to every customer the best experience. There staff is well trained and there for you the moment something is needed. I only wish I lived closer!!!
We were actually pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. I didn't really have high expectations for this being in Bangor and in a mall area. I give them props for presentation. We ordered pineapple fried rice, crab rangoon, and the green tea roll. The food not only looked good, but it tasted delicious too. We raved about the fried rice. The roll was not bad; I may be giving it more credit because of the beautiful presentation. All in all a good meal and I didn't think it was super pricey.
Stopped in here on a very busy night, sat at the sushi bar. Very comfortable atmosphere and great place to sit and watch the chefs prepare The sushi. Started with the cold Sam Adams Boston Lager on tap and a ruby relaxer cocktail. We shared a Maine Roll which has Maine lobster and crab meat with mango, this was excellent and would highly recommend. Enjoyed a side of the vegetable fried rice to complete the meal. Service was excellent, Will definitely be back
I had arrived in town early to take an exam, and had the time to check this place out, for which I received a recommendation. I have not been a resident of Maine for too long, but my run ins with Asian cuisine have been less than stellar. I got a sushi roll, and fried rice. Their hot tea was so delicious, the sushi roll was well prepared, and the rice what thankfully just the way I liked it. Thank you for saving Maine in my eyes and I will be returning!
