Independence Project

I came to this Agency with a major drug addiction! I was nervous and afraid! I was really happy when I met one of the counselors who immediately put me at ease! His laid back approach was what I needed to feel accepted and not judged. He told me I was not a bad person, but only a sick person wanting to get well! He also said he knew how to help and could make suggestions! This was the beginning for me! I had to do all the work, but now a year later, I have no regrets! I guess I was ready! I had had enough of the person I had become...I wanted to live again! Today I have a new life and I rely on the support of other recovering alcoholics and addicts. I attend 12 step groups on a regular basis! I am grateful for Independence Project helping me when I was at the end of my rope. Thank you!
