Can I Get a Pet if I Live in a Small Apartment? »
Living in small space doesn't mean you can't have a furry friend -- it just means you have to do some planning.
Living in small space doesn't mean you can't have a furry friend -- it just means you have to do some planning.
We've put together a small list to get you started on your journey -- and the first step starts with a single box.
Me and my familty came to Baltimore to spend a year as researchers at Johns Hopkins. We are from Brazil in a sabbatical that cannot be extended for a longer period. We search for a place for a while, since most people was not willing to rent for only one year. We thought we were lucky to find american management because aparently there was not restrictions about renting the apartment for only one year. We signed the contract and moved in, and less then two months later they were resquesting us to renew the lease for another year. As it is impossible for us, they have been subjeting us to receive people to look for the apartment that won't be available for another 10 months (now 7 months), while we are still living it. The first talk we had with them they promissed that they would postpone the visits until 2 months before we vacate the aparment. But now they just changed their minds and the only reason they gave to us it is that information was in the contract. But I don't think that any reasonable people would expect to live in a place for a year having people coming (some times with an as short as 2 hours notice) to inspect the the place where you are living, having no right for privacy (me and my husband work full time and we have two young kids). And we will have to endure that for another 7 months. Since it would be impossible to us to find another place now. Just because something is legal doesn't make it right. But they do no think to bother.
I will start by saying you get what you pay for. My husband and I moved here in a rush because we were desperate. I wont disgust you with pictures! But we look forward to our move next year.Pros: Very Quiet area. Lots of stuff to do locally and relatively safe for children to play at the playground. Its Cheap!!! We got it at $760 and the rent just went up to $785.Cons: PESTS AND ROACHES!!!!!!! Our move in day, less than 2 hours in our unit we had a roach infestation. As in hundreds!!! They were on the walls the doors, cabinets, and all of our clothes. Mind you we were unpacking so they were all over the food in the cabinets and ceilings. It was so bad we didn't sleep there for almost 2 weeks. I sent emails and pictures to corporate and that helped with the fixing of things in a quick manner. The company pest control is trash because they came to our unit on a weekly basis and the only improvement we got was from personal bombing!!! MICE!!! THERE ARE SO MANY MICE! We have been here almost a year and a half and we alone have killed at least 12 in our personal unit. Pest control didn't help much there. The management team tries but not hard enough to fix the situations in my opinion. We have filled every hole we can find in our unit and it was at least 30 small holes. Think of every single corner in a room or closet and then AC units are on the floor so the holes are there as well. This was the worst part. Mice crawling in my children beds on the counter and pooping on the table where they eat. Now there were many maintenance issues. Toilet needed fixing twice, ceiling falling in due to leaks from the unit above. We had a giant hole in our unit for almost 2 weeks because they dragged their feet with getting it fixed. There are RATS!! ALL OVER THE PLACE AT NIGHT! So coming home from the night job was always a case of Russian roulette with your life. The Pipes are always backed up so the tub is gross every now and then when you shower.
I am overpaying for a two bedroom apartment. This apartment community used to be good but now since they switched property management companies (From Continental Reality Corporation to Schwebb Partners) they will tow your cars and any guests cars. They also lied about replacement parking permit cost and beguan towing before they said they would enforce the rule where you have to have a parking permit from 9am-9pm every day. Laundry is on sight but it costs over 10$ to do laundry for a week (not including laundry supplies etc.). Staff is extremely rude and is not able to handle frustrated (frustrated because staff could not do their jobs right) customers who are paying way too much to be treated rudely when the staff does not know how to handle a situation. It is ok for staff members to hang up on frustrated customers and this has happened several times. The company has also threatened an entire building to increase rent for one resident throwing non- toilet paper items down the toilet. Bottom line the property manager and staff do not care about residents who have been living there for 2 or more years and only care about getting more customers. Maintenance workers are friendly and ok but not good since they have been back for the same problem on a few different occasions. Please do not waste your time and just pick another place to live because you do not want to deal with the headache of being treated so poorly in a place where you would like to live. I am seriously considering for the countless time of finding another place to live if my life plans would allow it.
Well I am only writing a review because no other reviews are on here and like me I was looking high and low for reviews when I was first apartment hunting. I haven't moved in as of yet but here it goes.Contacting the leasing agency was great, customer service was wonderful and as of right now any and every time I contact DelMonica June (which is the leasing manager) she always answer back not emails but she'll definitely call you so it's always best to call especially if you want an immediate response. When I first ever went to apply, she was a little late so I was waiting for about 15mins, once she came I was a little irritated but she apologized and had a good enough reason for my wait, anything after was definitely above professional. I applied and 4 days later she called and told me I was approved, you have exactly one week to get the security deposit together and that's the holding fee also, good thing with them is your security deposit can be as low as $500 or as high as first months rent $794 (for a one bedroom), DEPENDS on your credit only way you probably will not be approved is if you have evictions in your background, there's no two and three times security deposit, that made me so happy, you get a move in date the day you bring in your security deposit, if its the middle of the month (like mines was) you're rent is prorated (which means half) and that is due on that move in day after you inspect your apartment (she like to inspect it with you, and that's good because if anything needs to be taken care of she can get it done right then and there instead of having to put in a service request). I'll definitely update once I move in and again 6 months after. Hope I could help anyone looking to move in Barclay Square ApartmentsPs: Oh and its two apartment complexes one on Woodbourne (where the leasing agency is) and the other is about 1 mile from there. So be sure she specify which one you'll be applying for.
The staff is rude and very unprofessional. I've been waiting for a month for them to to call me after I put in an application. Never called back I've left several messages. Don't apply this place is a scam. They'll take your appt fee and you'll never here from them again.
I have lived at Park Raven Apartments for almost two years. So, as a resident of the community, I have to believe that any five-star review I read online is fake. There is nothing "great" about these apartments. Since living in Park Raven (less than two years) they have gone through 3 different property managers and each has been worse than the one before. As a result, I have experienced some of the worse property management I have ever seen in the last 6-8 months. Maintenance takes weeks to respond to simple calls, if they respond at all, and when they do it's a half fix. They find the cheapest, least expensive way to patch up a repair. Which means the problems are continuous. It's not uncommon for maintenance to fix the same problem over and over with glue, caulk and/or tape. The halls are also in terrible shape. None of the buildings look like the leasing office where the model is. The hallways in the resident buildings have stained, smelly carpet with paint peeling off the walls. It's so bad, I don't even touch the railings while walking up the steps. The leasing office really pushes "home security" when trying to interest a potential renter, but the intercoms to buzz guest in don't work and the front doors don't always close and lock because they are off track. It is also worth mentioning that most of these units DO NOT have a washer and dryer in them. When I first moved into the property I was told that every second floor apartment is washer and dryer accessible. It was only after my moving in and getting the run around, of course, that I realized that was not true. To make a long story short, just save yourself the headache and don't sign a lease with these slum-lords. I am now counting down the months until I can leave this dump without forfeiting my security deposit and destroying my credit.
Horrible experience with the lease. Read it carefully. They can change their terms anytime and charge you hidden fees. When I contact management about these concerns they stalled for a week while promising to reply with answers. They ended up making excuses on why they can reply and refused to answer any of my questions. They told me to get a lawyer to "interpret" the lease. Yeah... this place is shady.
This place is horrible!!! Do not rent here. We moved in 3 months ago. And the kitchen was never professionally cleaned. The refrigerator has had mold in it since we moved in. We have not been able to use or store food in our refrigerator. The maintenance people claimed the cleaned the mold. Cleaning one spot off with bleach will not do the job. This is a major health hazard. Rent has been paid on time since move in and our refrigerator has not yet been replaced. This company Is horrible and no one has solved this issue. After multiple calls, emails and complaints still nothing has been done. Disturbing? How do you rent out an apartment with a dirty molded refrigerator? The only thing a tenant should have to do is sanitize a refrigerator not remove mold.
If I could give this place negative stars I would, they sent preventative maintenance upon my move in which I thought was great. Only to find out there was a huge mice infestation before I came! Over the past 10 months, exterminators have come out every TWO WEEKS and sometimes more frequent than that. Sorry they're trying to fix the problem but it's not fixable! Beware of moving here! Finally taking legal action because I've never dealt with this before or rodents period. I catch a new mouse everyday, yet they're fixing and fixing holes and laying poison! Nothing works. Waste of money and peace of mind! I was told no matter how clean my apartment is, my neighbors are dirty! So I guess that's my problem. You get exactly what you pay for. Never again
This my first time with you I'm trying to fine a place bad because my brother screw me over bad I don't what do
