A "Charm'tastic Night on the Town" at The Prime Rib. Went to The Prime Rib this past Tuesday night for the $25.99 Halloween Prime Rib Special. It was amazing also enjoyed the jumbo shrimp cocktail. The potato skins are always one of my favorites. Selected the Newton Claret it went well with the entire meal. The PR is 5-stars for sure!

I have been to the Prime Rib m...

I have been to the Prime Rib many times. I recently called to reserve a table for 13 people, on a Saturday, one month in advance. Their website claims to have private rooms for business events and special occasions. This is not the case on Saturdays -- no exceptions!! They seem to have lost their way with Groupons, coupons and dumbing down their reputation as ties are not even required anymore. Looks like they would rather have a twosome claim a coupon meal then a business function with actuall business. From past experiences, the food is just okay, the service is typically great but I shall not need to bother anymore. So much for the old time, classy "Supper Clubs!" They have reduced themselves to a Coupon club.

Disappointing

Took my bride to the Prime Rib to celebrate our anniversary. I would NOT recommend it for others. The waiter made it quite clear right from the beginning that he had no interest in being there -- or maybe he had no interest in us being there. The food was very good, except for the bland house salad. But the tight quarters and the waiter ruined the atmosphere. The valet deserved more of a tip than did the waitstaff.

Great Prime Rib

and yes, there are plenty of other delicious things to eat there, BUT if you want a great prime rib, think of The Prime Rib first - I have never been let down by the food or staff here

Not worth full price

My husband & I ate at the Baltimore location of The Prime Rib. We went during Restaurant Week to celebrate my birthday on 8/11/09

Pros: the food was fantastic. I didn't personally care much for the dressing on the caesar salad but my husband loved it (he thinks they make the dressing from scratch). For me it had too much of a vinegar taste followed by a spicy taste (neither flavor is one I care for personally). The bread they give you was great(I'm not a poppy seed or sesame seed person; the bread had both on top & I actually ate a decent bit of the bread!). It was still nice & warm to help melt the butter. For the entree, my husband had the Filet Mignon (it was 4 or 5oz) & I had the Imperial Crab. Both were very wonderful. They came with a dish of Creamed Spinich & a dish of Mashed Potatoes to share between us. I'm not a huge spinich fan but I did eat some, not too bad. I loved the potatoes tho, great flavor, didn't need salt or pepper like usual! The Filet was nicely cooked outside with lots of juice & some pink still inside. It was extremely flavorful & had my husband wanting to buy another dish of it! The Imperial Crab was full of lump crab meat & out of the whole dish, only 3 tiny shell pieces (to me, that's good!)! Then came dessert: my husband got the Creme Brulee & I got the Chocolate Mousee Pie. The Brulee had a nice crispy top (not hard, just crispy enough) that my husband said reminded him of toasted marshmallows. Under that was a nice light creamy custard. He loved every spoonfull. My pie was amazingly light! I've never had such a wonderful chocolate mousee before, I certainly would have gotten more given the chance! The waiter had a nice balance of checking on us & leaving us alone. He was prompt with refilling our waters, usually before we ran out.

Cons: The location is not the best in our opinions. We were hoping to take a stroll to the harbor afterwards but there was no way we felt comfortable walking around outside of the restaurant (we used the garage entrance to get to & from the restaurant). When we were seated, we were put at a very tiny table up against a wall & already felt crowded by the other tables nearby. The walkway between our table to the one to my right was so small that each time someone walked by, we both had to lean against the wall to avoid being bumped (it got to the point I just stayed against the wall). The noise level rivals that of Applebees or T.G.I. Fridays on a firday or Saturday nice with a packed bar during football season! We could hardly hear each other talk at several points through the evening. The price of beverages outside of water was insane. My tiny Sprite (not more than a 12oz glass filled to the top with ice) cost $4. My husbands 1 beer cost $7. We were very glad we only purchased one of each & didn't have any refills! We were trying to attribute the noise level & the tight spacing to it being restaurant week, thinking they added in tables to acommadate the response & that some patrons may not have been use to going to a fancy restaurant & therefore respecting the lower noise level. However, we found out later that a friend of my husbands use to go there often with her husband & said it's always cramped feeling & very loud, they eventually stopped going.

The previous year we went to Red Lobster for my birthday. We both felt it would have been better to go there instead of The Prime Rib. It was far quieter & roomier. The food, in our opinions, is still very good at RL.

We have eaten at The Capital Grille & The Rusty Scupper during past restaurant weeks & both were places we would willingly return to & pay full price. The entire experience was wonderful at both of those.

Not worth the money!

Went to prime rib for Valentines dinner. Not the ambiance we were looking for. No coatcheck, $12.00 martinis. The worst part was seating is elbow to elbow with your neighbor. No complaints on the food. The food was good. I just don't like sitting in my neighbors lap when trying to have a romantic dinner with my girl. Not worth the money, go to Capial Grill.

Just What I Was Looking For

My girlfriend came to Baltimore for the weekend and I wanted to take her somewhere really great. This place was awesome...some reviewers said it's crowded...well, it wasn't crowded at all. The food was amazing, like top 10 of my whole life amazing. The service was great, I have nothing to complain about. The atmosphere was romantic and quiet. I had reservations for 5 right when they opened...good time to go. Bread was really warm and fresh.

There was no live Saxophone, I thought there would be on Friday night, but other than that, it was just what I was looking for. It's expensive, but well worth it. I'd say if you're thinking about a really special dinner...this is the best in Baltimore.

go for flemings, or mortons, or ruth chris.

Im a steak buff. Love Rays, Mortons, Sam and Harry's and Ruth Chris.

Prime Rib on Chase St in Baltimore? Good steaks, but our 8:30 reservation got us sat at 9:15. A sordid apology from the manager.... ""sorry its restaurant week and we are busy"".

Lazy waiters, weak drinks, but the food was good.

If you are just out with friends, service isnt a big issue, and you arent looking to impress, this is a good place for a great dinner with reasonable service.

Nothing special, but nothing to complain about.

Great Food Great Service

Hadn't been to the Prime Rib in awhile, but it's still oustanding! The Prime Rib entree is the best in town. Love the creamed spinach. And the service is perfect--quiet, efficient, friendly, totally professional. The live music makes a perfect environment.

Fantastic Dining Experience

The atmosphere is like no other. Very traditional feel and very helpful staff. The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the Prime Rib (bone out) and can honestly say it was the best piece of prime rib I have ever had. The creamed vegetables were crisp and delicious as well. Can't say enough about how enjoyable of an experience this restaurant was. It is more expensive but worth every penny.

good food, always overbooked

The Prime Rib has good steak. Attentive waitstaff. The problem is that they just seem to lack restraint in booking reservations. It's unreasonable to have an 8pm reservation and not get seated until 8:45pm. Probably the best steakhouse in Baltimore, though I don't know how big of a compliment that is.

EXCELLENT FOOD!!!

We were not disappointed when we went here for my husband's birthday. He ordered crab appetizer which was delicious and a nice portion. Ribs were his main course, which were the best he ever had, very meaty and tender. As a vegetarian, I planned on ordering side dishes, but they had a vegetarian platter that wasn't listed on the menu, which included the sides I was planning on ordering and then some. It was also ample and delicious. When I made the reservations I didn't mention it was for his birthday b/c we wouldn't eat the cake anyhow. But the waiter asked if it was a special occasion and my husband said it was his birthday, but not to bring any cake, the waiter surprised us by bringing out a large parfait glass full of fresh strawberries.

Worth its fame

If you want a steakhouse that's truly worth its value; if you want to try the best steak in your lifetime; if you want a high-class place in Baltimore; if you like dim-light restaurants and live jazz entertainment; if you want to feel high-class and pampered: this is THE steakhouse. No other steakhouse in Baltimore comes close to being this good (in steaks, at least).

THE BEST

Afer so many years owning, operating, and dining at restaurants throughout this country and some in Europe, I feel that not only does the Prime Rib have exquisite food, especially the Prime Rib, but also it has perfected anticipatory service. With the unusual, dramatic, and gorgeous decor, ambience is sublime. The table tops are picture perfect, featuring International silver flatware and shaded candle lamps and the glass top piano makes the white linened dining room, tuxedoed wait staff, and the crisp white jacketed bartenders a detail of perfection.

Very Nice - TC

I'm always searching for the best in quality, service & value. As steak houses go, the Prime Rib has gained a spot in my top five. Youll easily drop a $150 for two. However, the proportions are so large, I had to take some home! The food is prepared perfectly & the service is top shelf. If youll budget allow it, trust me, youll enjoy it.
Keep looking for ratings from TC. Tough Customer

The Fairest in the land

Wonderful romantic ambience. You feel Fred Astaire or Gary Grant will walk in wearing tuxedos. The service is impeccable, and the food is in a world unto itself. Wonderful fish and the best steak in town. While not the place you might expect to find it, the best crab cake in this town famous for same. Finally the desserts will send you home deciding you will need to fast for a month
