Overall
overpriced

Small portions. Very overpriced and everything is a la carte so you get nickel and dimed. Obsequious server interested only in pushing more expensive items. I don't mind paying a lot for creative excellent food, but this ain't it.

Great Service and Awesome food, exactly what you need for special occasion

This is my first time been to this restaurant and I was very impressed with the experience. I picked this restaurant to celebrate my first wedding anniversary with my wife because she was so sick on her wedding day that she couldn't taste the tasmania lobster that we had at Las Vegas. I ended up eating the whole thing by myself (felt little guilty afterward).
Anyway, the lobster (dirty style) at Oceanaire was very good and the price was very reasonable. The Grilled Wild Maryland Rockfish (cooked with jumbo lump crab & Boursin Cheese) that I had is just out of this world. Seriously, I have never tasted a rockfish fillet that good. Don't take my word for it, try it yourself. We also ordered a side dish of Creamed Spinach which is quite delicious and it's not too greasy or overcooked like the other place.
P.S. I made the reservation 3 weeks ahead of time since our anniversary is on Christmas Eve, to my surprise, they even made a special menu for us which print "" Happy 1st Anniversary Mr & Mrs XXXX - December 24th.
Most importantly, My wife was very impressed with my arrangement for the night. I can't wait to go back there for my birthday.

Excellent choice

I have been to the Oceanaire several times since it opened in October of 2005 and love it more each time. I am somewhat shocked at some of the comments I am reading here. For starters, I have always had excellent service. There is one manager/partner who I have seen on TV and seen quoted in the newspaper who is extremely friendly. He greets you when you arrive and will even stop by to check on you. Same thing with the executive chef; he will actually come around to the tables to make sure customers are satisfied. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The food is incredible. It is evident that every last detail is planned out. From the delicious, wide variety of oysters at the oyster bar to the infinite choices of fresh fish from around the world, you will have an amazing experience. And to everyone who complained about the price, let's be real: you get what you pay for at the Oceanaire. The pricing is very much appropriate for the quality of the food. If you can't afford it, don't go!!

One of my favorite seafood places, just don't like the price :)

The seafood is super fresh and tasty. I love the ambiance and the service is also very good. The prices are high, and that's the only thing holding me back from giving 5 stars, but you do get what you pay for.
I will certainly return.

Quality pieces of seafood, prepared at average, priced at a premium

We have dined at Oceanaire twice now and dont find the value. The location is good, the setting is nice, the service is good but the prices are gold coast. Unfortunatly the quality of the meal for the money puts this place in the average column for WiSar.

Super Seafood - Super Service!!

Recently transplanted from Seattle to Baltimore, I like to consider myself somewhat of a seafood connoisseur with a delight for trying new things and definitely a nose for fresh fish! For precisely these reasons, I thoroughly enjoyed eating at the Oceanaire last Wednesday.

Definitely ask for our server, Jackie ? she made us feel like we were the most important people there! She was very helpful in guiding us through the menu ? 4 of us ? instructing us not to over do it, especially since we planned to the next day. We split 2 appetizers: 8 oysters for the table (a tour of CT, MA, and PEI plus 2 she liked from Australia), and the red chili calamari. The oysters were great ? we had the saltiness and the sweet. They didn?t need the cocktail or minuette sauces but those helped the less daring. The calamari must be one of their best dishes ? a heaping plate of tender (not chewy!) and lightly breaded calamari with a great kick of spice in the sauce and bed of veggie slaw.

For dinner, we chose to share 3 entrees, promising ourselves we?d be back to try other specials soon. The signature blue crab cakes: (I had to compare them to our Alaskan King and Dungeness crabs.) They were two huge mounds of lump crab meat and hardly any breading. We were all unbelievably happy. Bigeye Tuna (sashimi style): There were two other options offered with different sauces but we wanted to know if this fish was actually flown in fresh as promised. Wow ? it was like butter melting your mouth! The Arctic Char: Not only a wonderful, fatty and juicy (almost salmon-like) fish but the presentation blew us away. It had been flash fried, and Jackie brings out this whole fish and then debones it at the table. She?s got skills! The fish was amazing and then with a little crunch from the crispy skin ? oh my gosh, so delicious!

PS - Go see Chattin at the bar if you need a break from your inlaws or just want some good company! He makes a mean Manhattan that puts you in just the right frame of mind.

An Impeccable Experience

I dined at The Oceanaire Seafood Room with friends for my birthday two days ago & it was a truly memorable experience. First, my special day was commemorated with a personalized menu. The calamari is the best I've ever had and the crabcakes are to die for! My server was attentive, friendly & sincere in her service. The night was topped off with a complimentary baked alaska that was beautiful presentation. I highly recommend the oceanaire to anyone who loves great seafood and service!

Avoidence is the best recommendation

Just returned from your restaurant in Baltimore, Saturday Oct. 6, 7pm, 7 persons reserved.
First of all, the waiter was without personality and rude at times. He suggested an appetizer of calamari and lobster that would handle 7 persons. No mention of weight per person or price. This turned out to be a $250 appetizer, are you kidding me? We feel scammed over this appetizer. It was clear to the waiter that we were discussing sharing appetizers to taste a sampling of your offerings as he ?warned? us that the portions were large. Several of us wanted calamari so he suggested the ?special? that I mentioned above. At the end of the night when we were discussing the bill with him he states that the special was prepared with 1.5 lbs of lobster/calamari per person. Again are you kidding me? That?s 10.5 lbs of appetizer! That is not an ?appetizer?, that?s an entree. Again, we felt scammed. BTW, the lobster was overcooked and rubbery. Entrees; the black cod in miso was disgusting. The blue marlin was overcooked and dry. The rockfish was flavorless, overcooked and dry. My daughter in law ordered scallops as her main dish and only ate two because of a ?fishy? flavor. I tried one and tasted strong ammonia?the scallops were bad. My 80 year old mother, celebrating her 80th birthday, wanted fried oysters. What was presented to her were several, dried up, Popeye's restaurant chain looking things served on a platter slightly smaller than a large serving platter with a 4? high bed of shoestring fries that would have fed 10 people. Again, are you kidding me? Unacceptable. The waiter spilled wine several times while refilling the glasses. My brother in law ordered a glass of port and never received it. And the worst of the evening was it took over 3 hours to dine due to the terrible timing of the courses. We came to celebrate an 80th birthday, not to take a 3 hour tour. At this level of dining there should be special memories of the evening. No positive memories here.
