They get two strikes - One...I went there expecting what their own website advertises... ie- ""under $30"". I realized that that referred to the entre only, but my $135 bill still jolted me a bit. I think it's ok for a restaurant to charge high prices, but please tell people the truth ! ... Under $30, nah, Strike 1.
Strike 2 came when I received an e-mail asking me why I had not honored my reservation ! Bad recordkeeping can really upset customers. I noticed that they didn't make a mistake on my bill, however ! They got that right !
I love the atmosphere, the contemporary Italian food (not American Italian - no spaghetti and meatballs here) and the friendly service. The venue is gorgeous, a turn of the century townhome in the cultural district of downtown Baltimore helps fuel the dining experience. The restaurant has been around 13 years, which says a lot.
Like I said earlier, the food is contemporary Italian, working with seasonal, local ingredients and adapting them the Italian mantra of cooking simply with great ingredients. Midweek specials abound. Tuesday night they have a women, Daniela (from Sardinia) that does traditional home style cooking - 4 courses for just $35.00 and Wednesday Night they offer the chefs tasting menu 3 courses for $30.00.

This is a greaty restaurant. Very upscale, gourmet. Which means you need to ask questions. No restaurant is good at everything on their menu. Do some digging with your server. I have had some awesome risotto at this location. I like the atmosphere and service in this establishment.

went there on valentines day, atmosphere was nice, however we were taken to the bar to wait for our table, we were unable to order drinks timely or in a matter without getting bumped into. Once we were seated, we sat elbow to elbow to the tables next to us, it was hard to concentrate on anything other then other peoples' conversation. Be very prepared for a HEAVILY influenced spinach menu, it seems to top or a la carte every choice. Not impressed and certainly not romantic. On the plus the service was good, although he forgot what we ordered as a starter and blamed the chef. Bon Apetit

I went to Sotta Sopra for New Years Eve and it was the best experience I ever had in my many years of Dining in Baltimore and all over the world.
Valet Parking. The food is outstanding, its not your everyday same old italian pasta dishes. Its much more than that (you have to personally experience it). The service was very professional, fun yet unintruding. And as far as the price, it was very reasonable. This is An Excellent Choice for any night of the week.

Sotto Sopra is stylish, but the food is also worth the trip. It gets busy on weekends so make a reservation or eat at the bar. I have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Comparable in atmosphere (and food) to a Manhanttan restaurant.
One of your best bets in B-More.

I could take or leave this one. Service was great. Very posh decor and great ambience. Too expensive for what you get. Food is gourmet. It seems more time goes into giving the food a beautiful presentation to the eye then to the quality of it's taste. Our group left still hungry! They don't give you much for what you pay!
