Twice, our dog ended up here: Once for some kind of bite that caused his entire face to swell, along with other symptoms too gross to mention. They were kind, gave me a clear idea of costs and stuck to the plan. (We were poor grad students and they were very considerate of that.) Fast forward 11 years and our sweet boy had a stroke at age 16. We brought him in and it was clearly time for him to say goodbye. They sensed our hesitation, and the vet looked him over (free of charge) and said that we should feel ok with our decision, giving us peace since he had spent most of the day happy and active. They let us spend some time with him before saying goodbye, wrapped him in warm towels since his extremities were getting cold and never rushed us. This was a sad, sad day, and the compassion and kindness shown was much appreciated. Yes, it is a business and they should be paid for being available at all hours and, much like any ER or after-hours clinic, you pay a bit more for the services, but I felt the vet and the assistants at ECEC were very professional and kind, and they were so sweet with Atticus, petting him and handling him so gently.

It is unfortunate that I have to write this, but I've had to take my dog to Emerald City a couple of times over the past 6 years and they've always done a great job getting her stitched back up (figuratively and literally).

In both cases (one involved my dog basically going into shock from a bee sting) they gave me good information about the situation and what to do (if anything) regarding care going forward.

Yes, the prices are quite high, but it's emergency care, so think of it like when you have to visit the ER. It's not fair to compare it to your regular vet bills. So if you find yourself in an emergency and can't get to your regular vet, this is the place to go in Seattle.

I brought my cat in after she was hit by a car. I had called ahead to let them know we were coming. First off, they brought her to the back room to assess her before even checking us in - the focus was on getting her needs met. They were up front about costs, asking my permission before even administering pain meds so they could give her a more thorough assessment. After her pain meds, they couldn't tell exactly what was wrong so they gave her an x-ray. They found she had a broken pelvis, a diaphragmatic hernia with her stomach in her thoracic cavity, and a collapsed lung. They got her on IV fluids to treat her shock. They were up front about the costs of treatment, and clear about potential outcomes. She is really badly hurt, and she will need surgery. They made it clear I was welcome to call anytime throughout the night to check in, and they had us come to the clinic room to say goodbye for the night. Everywhere I saw immaculately clean. Everyone working there was competent and professional. We did need to leave the low end of our estimate with them, which was provided in an itemized list of procedures, tests, medications, and treatments, and which all looked entirely reasonable and necessary.

This is a business of saving animals' lives, but they are a business. They require payment to continue running. Whether or not my cat lives, she has been provided excellent care by a team of folks who are doing their job well.

I would absolutely recommend this ER vet, particularly for traumatic injuries.

Thank you so much for saving our cat flash's life. We brought her in last Monday night during a diabetic crisis. She seemed only moments from her death. We credit your skilled assistant and quick treatment with saving her life. We were very impressed with how quickly everyone responded. Everyone of you treated us and flash with concern and caring. We appreciated your frequent updates on her condition as well as the excellent vetrinary care she received tofay, flash is doing quite well and has returned to all normal activities. I frequently scoop her up into my arms and thank my stars for every one of you at Emerald City Emergency. Thank you!

Excellent staff, excellent care. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they are EXPENSIVE. I haven't had much contact with the animal health care industry, but $3,000 for less than 48 hrs and no surgery seems like a lot. Aside from how much it cost I have nothing but good things to say about this clinic. They took great notes and I have no doubt my cat was well-cared for and comfortable. They got my "ok" before they did anything, so I knew in advance what it would cost.

Our kitty was showing signs of a problem in his nether regions, yeowling and walking weird. It was a Saturday night and I called and spoke to a very helpful person on the phone who suggested we bring him in tonight or just wait until the next morning and call a regular vet, adding that, it would be cheaper to wait.

Concerned that our cat might have a blockage, which can be deadly, we took him in. No waiting once we arrived. The kind lady told us exactly what they were going to do in the back room. About 5 min later, the dr came out and discussed what she thought the issues might be and what she wanted to test him for. She also gave me the cost up front. Her demeanor was wonderful. Very kind, thorough and complimented our cat over and over and kept apologizing for the wait. She was very cheerful and personable.

Our kitty, unfortunately kept blocking, despite their efforts to unblock him. Each doctor I spoke with was patient, kind, and really took the time to answer all my questions. I never ever felt rushed. So far, our cat has been staying here for over a week. They allow visits anytime we want, so long as we give them a heads up about when we are heading over. They are upfront and honest about costs before they do anything. I'm really happy my cat is getting the best care here.

I came here in a bit of a panic. I usually like to read reviews of places I visit but my 11 week old puppy was coughing like a goose and I wanted him seen immediately so I went to the first and closest place.

We waited for a little bit (maybe an hour) which seems totally reasonable for a walk in emergency vet.

My puppy was seen by Dr. Corrigan and she was an absolute pleasure! She was very reassuring and knowledgeable. She was also super sweet with him and he absolutely loved her.

I came here to write a five star review anyway but after reading some of the comments I want to say this place is NOT a money pit and does NOT take advantage of scared people. I was sitting with my puppy earlier today thinking he had distemper and was dying (he's totally fine. Googling got the best of me.) so I'm sure it's imaginable what state of worry I was in. Not only did Dr. Corrigan reccomend letting his cough run his course because a little strain of what he had is less harmful than antibiotics would be she didn't even charge me a visitation fee. Super awesome.

I'm glad I went here. Thank you very much!

To all the staff at Emerald City Emergency Clinic: I would like to express my thanks to all of you who answered my questions so patiently and thoroughly on Saturday when my Cocker spanial was in labor. I made several calls and was quite anxious- it was her first litter and niether my husband nor I had been experienced in the dog breeding and puppy delivery before. It is very comforting to be able to call in the middle of a long night and get an answer. Thank you!

This emergency vet is just what we needed. Our beloved old dog was having seizures repeatedly and we knew it was time to say goodbye. It was midnight July 13, 2017. We called one other emergency vet and they said they had a 3 hour wait. We called emerald city vet and they were very kind over the phone when we explained our situation. My husband took our dog in and the young woman who helped him was wonderful. She gave him time alone to say goodbye. When my husband was ready, she gently took our dog And wrapped him in a blanket. She told my husband that she was going to pet our dog the whole time through the whole procedure. They made a terrible thing as comfortable as possible. We really appreciate their care and availability! Thank you, Emerald City Vet!

I've had to take my cat here multiple times for multiple reasons and I've always been so impressed with the patience and care they've had for my ,not so cooperative, pet. The veterinarians and staff have been so competent and thorough. Even when they are incredibly busy, they always manage to take the time to listen and answer all my questions. I'm so thankful they are available 24 7 because my cat never seems to have issues during business hours!!!

I don't recall the veterinary tech that was on duty while I was in with my chocolate eating pug last night, but she made me feel at ease. She was busy, but took the time to explain everything to me and to help me feel a little better about the situation. She is the perfect person for that kind of job. I wish I had your name. Thank you!!!

Took my little guy there tonight, they were great and it is the only emergency vet I will use. I thought he had broken his leg, they informed me he was fine and just some rest and love was all he needed.

Let's see if I can get through this without crying. On Thursday April 20th our dog was horrifically ill and dying and this beautiful team of nurturing, compassionate, gentle and wonderful people took such good care of her that I swear today she was sad to leave them. She was at Emerald City for 3 nights and we received clear communication from beginning to end. We asked millions of questions and all of them were answered patiently and with articulate explanation at any and all hours of the day or night. We were able to visit every day, twice a day, and every time we stepped in the door we were greeted with transparency, kindness and positive attitudes. They saved my dogs life and we love them for that. Especially our dog - she was givin' out kisses to anyone in a pair of scrubs! Thank you forever and ever and ever and ever. I hope we never see you again.

We were very worried about our dog. Our regular vet was closed and this office was nearby and was an emergency vet only. Rachel at the front desk was professional and thorough, as was the vet. Dr. Corrigan. If they did regular vet care, I would switch to them! It was expensive, but they were able to do all the lab work, and xray work there. They medicated our dog so she would be out of pain. They went over exactly what the costs were and what the range was. We were very comfortable with them. I would definitely use them if we ever have any emergency again!

I cannot say enough about the kindness and professionalism of everyone we encountered at Emerald City. They kept us informed on our dog's condition, were very clear about prognosis and treatment options, and gave a comprehensive and accurate estimate. Beyond all that, they were patient and extremely personable. Our dog was there for 24 hours and all staff members got to know our pup and offered us kind words about him. While I hope we never have to go there again, I am so happy to know they are there if we need them.
