After being accepted into the community, with an initial payment of over $5000, my mother was moved out in the middle of the night for a non-emergancy concern to a hospital of their choosing, after only 5 days. She spent the next month at this facility as Brookdale would not allow her to return due to a non stageable minor sore on her skin. Brookdale stated that they were not able to maintain her with this concern. She was abused at the hospital they sent her to and after a month we moved her out to another care home as Brookdale would not have her back. During her absence from Brookdale, she was re-evaluated several times(even though she was not present) and charges were added to her standard billing to the tune of $1600+ per month. We refused to pay any cost and Brookdale continued to charge us for services that could not have occured. Billing was sent to collections and we under disbelief, had to pay after threats of legal action. She was at the Brookdale facility for 5 days and we lost a total of approx. $14000.This is an unethical and total criminal enterprise, in my opinion. STAY AWAY AT ALL COST.

Watch your family, for 7hrs we kept telling the nurse that our family member had major neurological changes, after constantly going to staff the EMS was called to take her for a CT scan and when they arrived they checked her blood sugar and it was 21!!! Basically she was about dead!!! I am a nurse and kept asking the LVN if she did this and this and showing her annoyance and had told me she checked her blood sugar but didnt tell me 5 hrs earlier. I was told by upper mgmt its not policy to check she is not diabetic!!! We will see....
I've just read the 2 comments below and I cannot believe they are talking about Westminster. I have lived here 4 years and I wouldn't trade it for my earlier life in a downtown high-rise or any other place.I think one of the comments below may have come from a former employee who did not meet the standards here. My experience has been just the opposite. The staff - from housekeeping to kitchen to front office, is superb and they really take seriously the facility's motto of "Extraordinary Impressions." I have filled out cards complimenting numerous employees. As for health care, our home is rated 5 Stars for a reason. I have one close friend who has been in the health care unit for more than 3 years and two others who have been thee more than a year. All 3 have received loving, prompt care.I do rate Westminster 5 stars overall because I truly believe the service, location, food and all the amenities deserve that highest rating. Terrell Blodgett
