I had lived here for 4 years w...

I had lived here for 4 years without a complaint (on my behalf or theirs)...great location, great school, great floor plans...and then...new ownership took over and thus new management. Unbeknownst to many in the apartment community, they implemented a new rule that if you are late w/ your rent more than 2 times in a year they will not renew your lease. Rent is due on the 1st and is late after the 3rd. My lease stipulated if I paid late I would be subject to a $75 late fee plus $10 per day. I was late 3 times...twice on the 4th and once on the 7th...I paid my late fees and carried on. Well, I and many other renters at the Verandah, got notices that due to this new rule that no one knew of they would not be renewing our lease. Now as we all know moving is a huge expense, very stressful and plus I have two children in area schools. I begged, pleaded, even wrote a letter to the owner that he basically ignored. Still...they would not be willing to budge and I was forced to move.



Now I understand a landlord can decide not to renew a lease for no reason at all...I get that...but this particular situation is clearly a case of wanting to move out long time residents to move in new residents with higher rents due to the new development right next door (Trails at 620).



There have been absolutely no improvements in the property since the new management took over...as a matter of fact it has declined...specifically the landscaping and outdoor areas.



Long story short the new management has no real care or concern for their tenants. They are callus and ruthless. Even a mortgage wouldn't be so strict...no other creditor would be so calloused...but the Verandah sadly is.



I would suggest Riverlodge, Alara, and Alexan. All have great personable staff, great properties and floor plans.

Nice looking, not worth the money

We have lived in our apartment for almost 2 years. The first year, it was a nice quiet place. We only had to call about noise a few times. Then things changed. We are generally understanding until the noise awakes us at 2 am. We have called about noise so often that we get sick of the message about how it will be taken care of when the courtesy officer is reached. We have had people party right below the window to our bedroom and keep us up all night. We have even had someone urinate on our drive into our garage. We even have had people set off fireworks at 3 am (on New Year's,I understand, but other nights as well). Nothing has been done.
We called about our water and ice tasting bad and were told to clean out our fridge. We already do that on a regular basis. Nothing was done about it. I have called about finding mold in our water dispenser and in the ice track. I can see it but can't reach it. The woman in the office told me it was probably just mildew. I had to explain that mildew and mold were both mold and that mildew grows on fabric.
The final straw was when the apartment complex began contacting us since November (our lease is up at the end of May), asking if we were going to leave in May because they really needed our apartment style (there are only 4 on property like ours). We finally went and talked to them telling them that we would be leaving. Three hours later, they called us asking if we would be willing to leave March 9. We talked and let them know that we would. They then were unavailable either by phone or in person. We went ahead and put an offer on a house. A week later we called again to see when we could go in and sign the paperwork. They told us that they had changed their minds several days ago and had not gotten around to calling us. Had they not contacted us about March 9, we wouldn't have made the offer on the house.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS APT COMPLEX TO ANYONE.
