The only reason this "salon" is receiving one star is because NO STAR is not an option. I personally have not had my hair done here, but my best friend has and tonight we stopped by to address an issue.
Her appointment was with Toni and she had brought in a picture to help demonstrate the color job she was seeking. After he spent "4 to 5 hours" (according to Toni) and she spent $250, she walked out with the worst color job I've ever seen. She looks like a walking highlight horror story that you hear about, but never experience yourself. I cannot believe that any prideful stylist would allow a client to walk out looking the way she did. It looks as though he tried to add blond highlights, knowing it wouldn't take, but hoping it would give her the color as such was in the picture. There's also a clear line where the coloring starts (several inches below the root) and it looks as though he put the color in his hand and ran his hand through her hair. I will be posting a picture on here later.
This evening we stopped by to address the issue. I joined her for moral support as she was hesitant about bringing forth the issue. Naturally, she requested a refund because only an idiot would allow someone who already ruined their hair once, to do it again. After requesting a refund, Toni refused and claimed refunds are not given. He informed her that her hair was too dark for the coloring job she wanted. If he had known this, as any registered and trained stylist would, he should have informed her of this before doing the job. Perhaps he could have made a suggestion. Otherwise, instead of allowing her to leave with an orange mess he should have said something like "You know this didn't turn out how I thought it would, but if you come back by tomorrow I'll correct." And that would have prevented this whole issue.
After being asked for his license number (for the situation to be reported the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration), he refused to give it. As I was showing him the picture of what she asked for as well as a pic of what she actually received he took my cell away from me and when I went to grab it back, he jerked it away for me until I demanded for him to return my cell to me. Instead of focusing on my friend and being more concerned about an unhappy client who paid $250 for a hideous coloring, he was more focused on me and why I was there with her. When someone is this defensive and argumentative, why wouldn't my friend have someone else there to support her? At one point, when my friend politely explained her displeasure while also informing Toni that she did appreciate the time he spent on hair, I sighed, which seemed to have set Toni off as he told me to leave, go sit down, go away, etc. To which I informed him that he needed to focus on her and not me.
Supposedly she'll receive a call from the owner regarding the issue. We shall see. I will leave an update on here as well.
Toni was rude, disrespectful, and had no regard for a client who trusted him and paid good money for a bad job. Myself...I didn't appreciate him grabbing my phone and jerking it from me. Don't touch my personal property and don't disrespect and duly deserved unsatisfied client.
I'm not sure who wrote the previous reviews on here. While some may be true reviews from satisfied/returning clients, they all seem to say the same thing. They seem to have the same wording and similar sentencing....kind of like the same person/group of people wrote the reviews...maybe family members of the "stylist"? Hmmmm.

Hey VP Salon, you're one of the most friendly salon in Austin area, but most of all, your hair services are the best. I love my hair color and cut last week with both Annie and Theresa, it turn out the best I ever got since I moved to Austin.
Come and see it for yourself. Ask for any Hair Stylist, they all are profession; I love them all.

I haven't had a regular hair stylist since I couldn't afford the one I went to 7 years ago. A couple of friends go to VP and recommend it highly. I decided to go there today, instead of the Paul Mitchell School, where I've been going for a couple of years now. I am SO, SO happy! I walked in and made an appointment for later in the afternoon. Annie gave me a fantastic cut, then when I mentioned that I really needed highlights, she asked (after blow drying already), if I wanted her to give me highlights. I thought for a minute, said yes and she proceeded to give me highlights on my already cut and halfway styled hair. When I went in, I felt like a frumpy, middle aged mom. When I left, I felt 10 years younger, sexier and 10x more confident. I will be back for sure!

I have lived in Austin for 7 years now and had yet to find a hair salon that I loved....until now. As a former magazine editor, I used to review salons so I have been to a great deal of high end salons all over Austin. VP Salon blows them all away without being nearly as expensive. They are friendly, quick, and extremely skilled. I have thick, somewhat coarse, long hair and I always leave with it feeling so much lighter and more manageable. Kim is amazing, so I recommend booking an appointment with her :) Believe me, if I could give this salon more than 5 stars, I would.

Well, to begin, I must say that I had enjoyed the friendliness of the staff- even though they could be a bit over complementary about myself. I had gone to their first salon on Gattis school road and found the quality to be most optimal and had left the salon looking and feeling good about myself- after a massage, pedicure, and a haircut done proffessionally; I found myself renewed. However, the salon on parmer seemed to be fairly empty (because it being a new location), compared to the original one on Gattis school rd., and I found that the quality was just as good. This newer branch of the salon did not have a nail department, however did have a new tanning feature which was enjoyable.
Now the prices of pedicures etc. seemed average to that of others, however the prices for a haircut and or color etc. seems a bit higher for higher quality i presume. Their ""gifts"" consisted of jewlery, purses, hair &facial products, etc. I hope you found this review helpful to you in some way.
