Comparable to Uchi in food, not price!

I went yesterday for the first time after hearing it was pretty good. I went again, last night for one more roll. Tomo surpassed my expectations. Of course they weren't high because to me it was a ""sushi restaurant in a shopping center"". I didn't think it would be good.\n\nIt was great. Definitely sit at the bar and get a close look at the chefs in action. The ""Dynamite"" appetizer is a must and was better than anything I ever ate at Uchi. Also try the ""David's roll"" if you like really spicy food with good flavor. The ""Longhorn Rolls"" and ""Mexican Roll"" were also tasty.\n\nI will go again in the near future! Maybe tonight.

Service, Sushi, Guests, and Staff make this place GREAT!

The Susan Roll (one of their specialty rolls, I might have the name wrong; it was $8.50): Wrapped in rice paper and eaten like an ice cream cone and the flavor and texture is so tasty! The tempura has perfect texture!\n\nWe had such a good time with the people next to us we were sharing food and having a great time together! SIT AT THE BAR! GOOD TIMES AT THE BAR!\n\nDon't let the retail strip center location fool you! This place is great, the people were wonderful, and we had such a blast I'm going back TODAY with a friend who's never been there!\n\nI see other comments about staff, chefs, etc., being terrible. I had complete opposite experience. EVERYTHING was great!

Tom Sushi

I love sushi and have been to several sushi bars in the Austin area. Tomo's have the best sushi chefs in town and the friendliest staff. The sushi is fresh and the service is wonderful.

Best Sushi in town

I love this place! I have to eat here at least a couple times a month. I think the Kamikaze roll is a must have, though at least during dinner hours you have to ask for it, because i do not think it is on the menu. All of their sushi and sashimi is excellent quality, and they have a huge variety of rolls to choose from. Their location is perfect as well, for those of us who live up north now there is no reason to make a drive for good sushi. The service is always wonderful, everyone is very friendly, and I think that for the quality of the food you're getting that the price is just fine.

I tried eating here few times because it was on Parmer but I wasn't all that impressed with it. It's small yet cozy and it's clean. The appearance is nice. I wasn't very impressed with the food. The fish didn't seem very fresh and tasted fishy not fresh. The cut didn't look that nice either. I gave it a go number of times but I don't think I'll go there again. Maybe if they matched their price with the food. Price is much higher than they should price in that type of restaurant.

I love this place!

I just am in love with this place. It?s a far stretch from where I live, but well worth the drive. Having traveled all over the World, this place reminds me of the little sushi bars in Los Angeles and San Francisco: non-descript on the outside but hip and cool on the inside with well presented sushi. Oh, and the fish take is way cool! The bar is inviting as well as the tables around the place. The only thing I don't like is the sushi bar counter; if you aren't careful, you'll accidentaly spill a cocktail because of the rocks that protrude through the'll see what I mean!

Just average

The service was quite lacking and the sushi is alright. I was not impressed and will not go there again for the price. Musashino's is still one of the best sushi places I've had in Austin.

Awesome Sushi / Horrible wait staff! Kuddo's to the Chef's!

For a while, this was the best hidden secret in North Austin.... well the word got out! Good for them, bad for us. Their food is delicious, fun, eclectic. Everything is fresh. The desserts are great too! The wait staff is truly awful. If you sit at the bar, you get full attention, education, fun and laughter. The food is worth the bad service. YUM!

Best Sushi in Austin!

I love sushi and I have to say Austin has some good sushi places... but they are somewhat alike. Tomo, however, has a diferent feel and taste. It is by far the best sushi in austin.

worst service ever!

More of a bar than a sushi restaurant. Two year anniversary dinner, took 10 minutes after being seated to see a waiter, and it took just over an hour to get a rainbow roll. He forgot half the order, and only admitted it later. The chefs drank no fewer than 5 shots each during our visit and had their own beers as well. Their foul mouth were ceratinly heard at our table, not just the poor people at the bar. I am glad we did not take the kids. I have no intention of ever returning.
