South Congress is such a busy street, hard parking, and busy places to eat.
I went into southside recently and had a great speciality pizza. Cool Clean environment. Food was ready in no time and I grubbed hard. They have front door parking lot so it wasn't hard to get to the front door.
I'm just saying there's a lot of pizza joints around town, but these guys take my loyalty!

The service is not good and the pizza is even worse! Dried out chicken, no cheese, very little of the Spinach Artichoke mix. I complained and was told ""Too Bad!"" The brownies are moist but the cookies crumbly. Terrible Pizza! I'm thinking of making a sign and marching up and down on the road in front of their shop to tell everyone to go to Pizza By the Slice, Gatti's or Pizza Hut. Anywhere but here!!!!!

My wife and I had visited for lunch and had a good experience the first time were there.
However, we invited friends of ours and had terrible service. The girl who took our order was rude! When we told her we wanted black olives on one of our pizzas, we wre rudly asked ""what kind of black olives"" and gave us the name of some olive we had never heard of. When we indicated we didn't know what the difference was, she rolled her eyes as if we were stupid.(I wonder if she knew how rude and stupid she looked). Anyway, it was as if we were a bother as we continued to order drinks for 7 of us. Needles to say the rest of the evening went downhill from there.
It took almost a full hour to get our pizzas out. When we asked what the problem was, we were told by one of the cooks, ""it is in the oven"" with a don't bother me attitude. Of course, he didn't answer our question and didn't even bother to look at us when he replied. Then when the pizzas finally did come out, the toppings were skimpy at best. What the heck! Were they trying to loose customers?
Needles to say, we will never go back and be sure to tell others don't even bother.
Very, Very, disappointed!

this place is terrible, jeez, go to homeslice, for only a little bit better pizza, (still not good)
southside business is slow, so they take it out on the customers?
the chick at the register is a idiot and is always playing with her hair, nice for a restaurant, real clean
the pizza cook is not too friendly either,
cant even cook a cheese pizza correctly
get it together before I call the health dept on you guys

I order Southside Pizza at my office on a regular basis and have always been very pleased, except for the missing ranch from time to time. I visited the actual location on Saturday night and as soon as we ordered the bearded guy behind the counter starts ranting about how he can't do a half pizza with yadayadayada, yet ending up doing it anyway after throwing a fit. The cashier could have told us...we even offered to pay for 2 whole pizzas after the yelling began. Very unprofessional.
Then to top it off - I suppose an employee comes in with his girlfriend and orders some food and starts cursing back and forth with the pizza guys and cashier very loudly the entire time there, while everyone in the resturant is trying to enjoy their meal. Not appetizing.
I ate my pizza as fast as I could to get out of there! Needless to say I will be taking my business else where, too bad bc the food is good!

I've ordered pizza from Southside Flying Pizza at least 5 times. Every single time, the pizza has been burnt (prob as a result of too little cheese), and the delivery person has forgotten the ranch dressing that I ordered. EVERY SINGLE TIME! No exception.
I have to believe that the entire establishment simply does not care about their business or customers.

The quality of your food is great! My wife is a pizza snob and has ordered delivery x3 this week.I really like your sandwiches and am working my way through them all but the chicken parm and the meatball are my favorites.
Fresh and hot every time it's delivered.
However...I placed a phone order this evening and the following transpired:
I ordered my sandwich first and inquired about the Friday special, which turned out to be walk in only...no problem there,I'll take advantage of that the next Friday I dine in.The girl taking my order was conversing with another employee who was explaining to her about the minimum order, which I know already and heard her clearly. The order taker parroted the info back to me and I replied ""I know, bear with me,I'm ordering more food""...Bam! Instant bit*h.Her tone changed, she was short with me and hung up while I was in mid sentence.
My initial impulse was to call back and cancel the order, but I figured-A.She's new or B.it is Friday and I'm sure you are busy.
So I didn't do that and did this instead.
I would suggest not letting employees on the phone until they understand the policies.
Very uncool conversation...otherwise,you guys rock!
This is officially my favorite pizza joint!! The pizza is sooo good and the salads are really fresh. My husband and I take our kids there to watch them toss the pizza. The pizza guys have always been very nice. Once they even showed my oldest son how to toss the dough. My favorites are the margherita and the spinach and artichoke dip. We have always had a good time and good food at southside pizza but when these guys get busy, they get BUSY. It is not unusual to wait up to an hour depending on the night. I've gotten a pretty fast lunch there before but I would suggest picking up or dine-in in the evening. The delivery may take a while and is just not the full experience of this pizza shop.
I go to this place often, meeting locals there and taking my out of town friends. We always have great food, pizza, stromboli, and best salads around. One of my friends from Blanco meets me there and takes 2 meatball subs home everytime. My girlfriend and I think the soups and salads are better (and cheaper) than salad place down the road. Real bacon bits, I mean really, who cares this much about quality and value. Not Pizza hut. So try what I consider food of Gods (stromboli) and let us know what u think. southside pizza lover

I'm lazy... very lazy. So lazy I just shared a napkin with my boyfriend to eat some of the worst food I have ever had rather than get up. But this food was so bad I had to write a review. I was going to get a frozen pizza, but instead I decided to splurge and order a calzone and salad from Southside Flying Pizza. It was THE WORST FOOD ever!!!! I have had several frozen and/or mall pizzas better than this. The sauce was watery, the dough was chewy, the spinach was completely unseasoned, and the caesar salad dressing was translucent and tasteless. To top it off it was almost an hour late. Sigh... never again, never again.

I consider myself a bit of a pizza expert. I am not a snob though. Sometimes a frozen Tombstone or Pizza Hut hits the spot. When I am really jonesing for quality though, I have to have Southside. I used to live on the south side of town and it's the one thing I miss the most. It is by far the best pizza in town. Yummy brick oven flavor, great ingredients and the service is always quick and friendly too. No stuck up 04's here!
I live on the north side of town now, but every time I am in the area I have to go to Southside. Great prices, great service, and even better pizza.

I hate to be someone who gives a below average review to a small restaurant, because I appreciate the little guy, but my past two experiences with SouthSide have left a horrible taste in my mouth. My dad was in two weekends ago visiting and wanted pizza, I thought that he would like SouthSide because I have had pretty good food from there in the past, and lets face it the pizza in Austin for the most part leaves a lot to be desired. I called to place an order and was put on hold for quite a while. My wife was out and was in the area, so she went and picked up the food, when she got home, is when everthing went wrong. I had ordered the soup of the day, which I was told was tomato bisque, one of our favorites, when my wife got home we had beef stew or something of the sorts. We had also ordered a calzone and were not given the dipping sauce. Normally I would have bit my upper lip and just eaten the food, but my last experience was the same, except when I first called and asked for the soup of the day, the girl answering the phone, slammed it down in my ear, upon calling back, I never received an apology. Our order was wrong, and I did not know that until I got home. So, this time I was bound and determined to get good serivce, so I called back, the girl taking the calls, took down my name, address, phone number, and after speaking with the manager prommised me that someone would be delivering the right soup and the dipping sauce. NO CALL, NO DELIVERY, NOTHING. We sat and waited for the delivery, and ended up waiting and waiting. I know that a lot of people in this town are foodies and into food, and I am one of them, but when situations like this take place, the managers and the owners of these establishments need to make sure that they get these mistakes right, or else SouthSide will become yet another failed food venture in Austin.

I have been a patron of Southside for the last 2 years, and have always enjoyed the food and recommended to friends...until recently. Two out of the last three times that I called for delivery, it was either late or the order was not correct. The third time, was the ""free"" pizza I received in compensation for the 2 hour late pizza ( I live at Congress and Woodward, approximatley a 5 minute drive)!!
To be fair, when eating in the restaurant, I have had no unpleasant experiences, but the delivery should be examined closely by the owners or those in charge of the business.
Tonight was the end of it for me, I love the spinach artichoke dip, but will be destined to the fate of Kramer on Seinfeld, sending someone else in to buy it for me now, very sad.
I called in and placed the order (repeated 3 times) with a congenial girl on the other end of the phone. Pepperoni, and jalepeno with pineapple on 1/2, 2 salads, and the spinach artichoke dip. The order arrived in less than the quoted 1 hour, so we dug into the salads, putting the pie in the oven on low. Hour or so later, finally got to the pizza, and my co-diner, and I were quick to find out...NO PEPPERONI!! I immediately called back, and was told by ""Amanda"" that they would give me a free pizza!, nice but no pepperoni?? Then she proceeded to tell me that the buttons on the computer were very close together, and that is probably where the error occurred. Did I fall off the turnip truck yesterday, or learn the computer from Sears & Roebuck. Anyways, long story short, I will not be calling this establishment anymore for anything. Sure am gonna miss the dip.

You can really appreciate the attention to detail in all of the pizzas and eats at Southside Flying Pizza. The spinach calzone was amazing with just the right amount of spinach and cheese and the dough was perfect. I had never had a stromboli before but I will again, it was super meaty and delicious. Casual environment and excellent food. Why wait at Homeslice when you can go right down the street for pizza that is even better.
