Hello,

I just wanted to take a minute and address a previous review. The family placing the review was very happy with the school and the care given to their child. They only had their child enrolled with us for two days before deciding to take their child to Paris with Mom for six weeks and were uncomfortable for paying the tuition for the days the child was here.

Thank you,
Jodi Someshwar

Facility
Instruction

I have had my children at both campuses and I have the up most respect for the director,Jodi, and the entire staff at OWM! My son attends the infant room and the women are the most loving and caring teachers! Whenever I have had any concerns Jodi has been there to listen and correct anything I needed. She is present at both campuses and has always made it known that she is there for the children and families because she wants to be. She is sweet, professional and the “campus grandmother”! She is not “bipolar” as stated in another review. My daughter had an dairy allergy and the campus made every accommodation for her without hesitation. Personally, as a teacher, I knew what I wanted and the type of environment I wanted my children to be in while I was at work and the teachers and curriculum exceeds every expectation I had! My children are able to thrive in a safe and loving community. As a mother there is nothing else I could ask from them! The campus is clean, the staff is friendly, professional and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my children! They truly love all the children as if they were their own!

This is probably the best daycare in Austin. The teachers are loving, kind and attentive. PCMA has been a blessing for us. I never have to worry about leaving the kiddo here - he is happy and content. he also learns a lot. the teachers have consistently been some of the most caring, creative and knowledgeable. Their

facilities are always clean and free of clutter. The hallways and classrooms display the children's art/craft projects

The director Miss Jodi at PCMA is awesome, kind when interacting with the kids, and very professional interacting with parents and staff. She is very experienced and helps parents know how the children are doing at the center and thier improvments/achivements. the children's day is structured really well and the facility is clean, modern, spacious and well organized.

The teachers and staff at PCMA are very kind, compassionate and nurturing; the environment allows the younger children to learn great life skills. I was also impressed with the activities/ educational toys for the children who are beginning to learn.

I am yet another dissatisfied parent with the behavior of the staff at this school. The director, as stated in many other reviews, is extremely rude, and I can attest to the favoritism to her granddaughter as my child was in her class for 8 months. My biggest regret other than taking my child in the first place was the length in which I let him stay. I wanted to prep my kid for kindergarten, and I thought montessori would be the best route, but I will be soured on montessori forever because of this school. My child became depressed after 8 months of being in this school. It was gradual, and for too long I just thought he was being a baby, because they were just being stricter. He kept telling me the teachers are so mean, and so my wife and I would go talk to the director but nothing ever changed, and we were assured that nothing was wrong. After several weekends of attitude and anger from our child he finally broke down in tears and in a 4 year olds best ability told us that the teachers are always mean to him, but they have favorites in the class that get to do what he wants to do, and that he hated that school, and that the teachers are mean....he reiterated that many many times. My heart sank, and I still can't forgive myself for keeping him there for so long. He is now in another daycare, and the difference is like night and day. He only has nice things to say about his teachers, and he has his same playful humor back. In short, don't send your kid to this school. I wanted mine to read so bad before kindergarten that I ignored the signs, and sacrificed his happiness. He has learned more in a few months because of the change in environment than he did the whole 8months at that horrible school.

Healthy & Loving Learning Environment

My kid has been enrolled in PCMA for almost 2 years and I have never touched the ‘animal cracker’ jar mentioned by previous poster. I have always waited patiently for one of the staff member to get free and give my kid some crackers. They have a hygiene protocol and I totally respect it. If any kid is restless, I believe there are enough interesting things in the lobby area and library to entertain him/her.

After hearing horror stories about other kids falling repeatedly sick after joining any new school, I was attracted to PCMA’s promise to create a healthy environment for kids and they have lived up to the promise. My kid rarely gets sick at this establishment. The building layout with bathrooms, little sinks and tissue dispenser at kid’s reach in each room; Special flooring which uses less chemicals to clean; Good hygiene protocols for cooking and serving food; Use of disposable plates and utensils for every meal; Daily sterilization of toys and weekly cleaning of cot linens; Good sick kid policies- These are just a few examples of how passionate PCMA’s director Jodi is about the health of the kids in the school. I recall discussing the weekly menu with her and her request to get store-bought muffins as a healthy and safer alternative to homemade cup cakes for celebrating birthdays. I was surprised how detail oriented she was. On many occasions, I have noticed she has a similar attitude about my kid’s curriculum, about the special summer activities, about creating a healthy and loving Learning Environment for the kids.

I can relate to Jodi’s reaction to the previous poster. How else was she supposed to react when someone was even unintentionally trying to disrupt that healthy and loving environment she works so hard to create? Thanks for standing up for your beliefs and our kids, Jodi!!

Our daughter was enrolled in P...

Our daughter was enrolled in Parmer Children's Montessori Academy (PCMA) from the end of April 2011 until August 2012 in the Primary 1 class. We moved to this school after seeing a decline in the education and the continuous teacher turnover in her previous daycare/preschool causing us to become very concerned for our daughter's education. We were greeted by a warm staff and were impressed by how clean and organized the center was. We were shown work of some of the children in the Primary class and we were very pleased to see how much they were learning and the level of the work they were doing. We immediately enrolled. Our daughter fit right in and we saw her blossom educationally from her first day there. Upon returning from her first day, she excitedly told us the whole life cycle of a butterfly. She continued to come home in the weeks that followed telling us about the different modules they were learning from the types of whales, to the water cycle, the phases of the moon, the solar system, etc. The teachers were easy to talk to about any concerns. Mrs Suma quickly realized how much our daughter was excelling and grasping all of the material and set out to challenge her by giving her advanced workbooks. Our daughter also learned addition, subtraction, improved her reading and writing skills tremendously. Prior to coming here she was able to put sounds together and could read some words phonetically. However, in Mrs Suma's class her reading took off. She started Kindergarten this school year 2012-2013 and due to how advanced she was and her desire to learn we had her tested for the first grade within the first 3 weeks of school. When evaluated, after a week in first grade (1st - 4 week evaluation), her reading levels were already above what she is supposed to score at the end of first grade. Additionally, her skills in other areas were advanced as well. She was able to compete academically in first grade due to the solid foundation that she received at PCMA. PCMA also taught her to embrace diversity as the student makeup at this center is diverse. I would highly recommend PCMA for any parents looking for a quality, clean, and nurturing environment that will enable your children to achieve their full potential. The center's founder and director, Mrs Jodi Someshwar, is very passionate about her center. This passion is reflected in her dedication to ensuring the children and parents receive the best experience possible.

I went to this school today wi...

I went to this school today with my 2 year old son for a tour. When I got there, the Director Jodi went into her office and I was left waiting in the lobby. I saw a big plasic jar of animal crackers on the side of the front desk with some 2 inch tall dixie cups beside the jar. I thought, "how nice to offer those to the children", and proceeded to scoop up a few with the dixie cup for my son so I could have him calm and entertained with a little snack while I toured the school. As I was scooping up some animal crackers (I was only able to get 3 in that small cup) the Director Jodi was looking at me with a mad and horrified look on her face. She said "oh we don't do that, we don't put our hands in the jar". I responded by saying I didn't touch any of the animal crackers and that I used the cup to scoop some up. While I was responding this to her, she was frantically putting on a plastic glove on her right hand. I could tell she was pissed off and so then I said, "uh that's ok, 3 should be fine". I thought we would start the tour but she handed me a form to fill out. I started filling it out and she went back into her office with a parent that had arrived. As I was finishing up the paper she gave me, my son had already finished his 3 animal crackers and was asking for more. Jodi was still in the office and no one else was in the front. I saw a large container of hand sanitizer and put 2 large pumps in my hands and disinfected my hands. Then I put on a plastic glove and this time poured the animal crackers onto the small dixie cup. As I was finishing up and putting the lid back on, she was standing outside of her office giving me and my son the stare of death! Yes people, her look was that ugly and awful! I was thinking, "Are you kidding me". So then I asked her, "Is there a problem?" She responded by saying, "I just wish you would have asked us for more cookies". I was in complete shock and disbelief and made me feel disgusted to be there. I had my son in a stroller so I pushed the stroller and went around her, then went to the front counter where I had left my information on the paper she gave me to take it with me. She stopped me and said I couldn't take it because that was their paperwork. I said, "well it has MY information and I don't want you to have it", and I tore it in half. She then grabbed one half of the paper and I proceeded to tear up my half into smaller pieces. She then put her hand out so I could put those torn up pieces in her hand. I gave them to her and as I walked out with my son I told her, "I'll be sure to give you a bad review", and so here it is people! She has the meanest, coldest look and soul I have ever come across. I would not trust leaving my kids there for a second, and you shouldn't either. I'm sure she tries to put up a front, but deep inside she is not really passionate about her work, the children that attend there, or the parents that pay her bills. If she truly loved her school, she would not have that type of unprofessional behavior, especially to a new customer. I give you my word that this experience at this school is 100% true so don't waste your time going there. There are so many other Montessori schools in Austin that would be more than happy to share animal crackers with my son.

Worst experience ever with the Director!!!! She was mean, rude, & very unprofessional to my child (2 yrs) and I, a mother of 3 looking to put 2 kids at her school. I will not trust her or her school with my children. First impressions are everything and she left a very bad image of herself and her school. She lost a chance to know some amazing kids and also lost some really good business too. Good riddans!

Parmer has a great building, clean facilities, but the director is woefully inexperienced. She is incredibly rude to parents, and cares very little for the progress of your child. I was amazed at how spot on the previous reviews are about Jodi's (the Director's) behavior with staff, parents and children. For a long time, I thought nobody would believe what I experienced there. I quickly took my child out of that place when Jodi flipped out. It is true that Jodi's grand children really do get the benefit of Maria Montesorri's teachings because she put them with older children. My child was left with babies all day. Jodi is a child psychologist "turned" Montesorri specialist in just a few short years. So she really doesn't have the experience or finesse in dealing with parents, staff and especially the children. I would say, Don't go there, and don't risk your child's education and well being.

My husband and I have been very impressed with the level of care and instruction that my son has received in his primary class. I have no doubt that he'll be incredibly prepared for kindergarten. His teachers are very nurturing and knowledgeable, and I have been amazed at the leaps and bounds he's made. The directors have been effective, and we've had no issue whatsoever with the school. We are sad to age out and would recommend the facility.

I sent my children to this School based on the fact that it was new and from the first impression everyone seemed to be professional and caring. Like they say first impression is always the last impression may not be true in every case. I agree with ashly421 as I have witnessed the owner bashing at her staff in front of the children. It was one day when I happened to pick my kids quite earlier than usual. I was amazed to see this otherwise pretentiously nice and kind lady I had never seen such hot tempered attitude in a children environment as it was very loud and clear. I gave it a benefit of doubt at that time but after a while the owners constant favoritism was always evident. In any situation where her grand children or the children whose parents were her favorite involved she would always take their side and promote only her favorites at different occasion. After a couple of months I was very disheartened by her attitude and was able to recognize her favoritism very clearly. Both of my kids felt left out and they were never appreciated or involved in any activities. Although my kids have always had a wonderful time in their previous School in Dallas. I truly believe that this ACADEMY is not going to sustain very long unless the owner changes her approach towards dealing with parents and children from different back grounds. This is not India and not 1900's where one thinks its ok to be cast oriented..

EXCEPTIONAL SCHOOL!!!

I truly believe when one door closes another door opens. I've seen alot of Montessori Schools but PCMA stands out 100%. PCMA staff teaches children all forms of learning according to their level. Yes, it is a fairly new school but I'm so happy to see it blossom. Every morning children are greeted by wonderful staff. There is no child who does not get greeted. ALL children are precious to all staff. The staffs takes great care to each needs, especially lots of love! The children learn ballet, piano, Spanish and of course soccer. I've seen children grow from all the learning the get at PCMA. I give my hats off to Jodi and her staff for allowing me to be a part of the school. YES, I did say every parent is a part of the school as well. Without the parents we would not have the precious children. May God continue to bless Jodi and her staff. Keep up the good work!! I recommend PCMA to anyone looking for a MONTESSORI SCHOOL!!!

The building is beautiful, but the staff is very bad. The management is very rude. Jodi, Deborah and Shooma are very very unprofessional. Once i went to drop my child at around noon time and I saw Jodi, the owner, screaming at staff members down the hallway. The owner and Shooma talk to each other in some other language in front of parents and kids. They have favoritism for owner's grand kids ( who are in the same school). My child did not learn anything there. I am glad i took my child out of that school few months ago. never never go there.
