McGuire's Clocks

Had a smaller pendulum clock I inherited repaired here. I brought it in fully expecting to leave it. The gentleman took a look at it and asked what was wrong. I told him I knew nothing about the clock and that I could not keep it running.
He turned it around and showed me that the sprins were completely unwound. He said not to worry about over winding it, that it needed to be fully wound to run properly.
He wound it up and made a small adjustment and away it went.
He said it may need cleaning but to try it first and that if it didnt work to bring it back and they could give it a tune.
They didn't even charge me for the help.
He said of it needs more bring it back and they would be glad to help.

Great place. I was sent here by the moving company after my antique wall clock was damaged. Not only did they fix the case and glass like it never happened, they also service the mechanical portion. Clock runs better than ever.

Been in here a few times for watch battery replacement, all but one time they were able to do it while I waited. I am usually in and out in less than 10 minutes. Great friendly local business.

Me and my wife had been looking at grandfather clocks online for some time. We are building a new house, and were looking for a statement piece for the entry way. We initially were going to purchase online, but were hesitant to do so without seeing the clock in person. We live north of Austin so we shopped some local furniture stores, but there selection was minimal. After some searching on the internet we found McGuires. I am glad we did. They had a huge selection of clocks. They did not have the one we were looking at, but they were able to show us the wood color and go over all the features using the ones on there floor as examples. In the end we wound up ordering the "ardenal". It was actually cheaper than it would have been online, and they set it up and deliver it for free.

I am a music box collector and found a vintage Reuge music box! The owner has quite a few, but I could only afford one :( Anyway, the older woman who helped me was very patient and answered my questions. I will definitely be back again on another splurge day!

This place has really beautiful new and antique clocks. I purchased my grandfather clock here and it was delivered the same day! I haven't had any problems with my clock but it's good to know they make house calls if anything ever goes wrong.

My family been doing business with McGuires Clocks for 20 years. My father was a collector, and had pieces valued at over $50,000. McGuires has worked on all of them, and there are a lot. In his 50 plus years of collectingy father accumulated over 300 clocks ranging from the simple time only american clocks to annular french clocks. Though our father has passed and his collection has now been split between the family we all still use McGuires, even when it means making a trip from out of town.

I have a very old wall clock that was my great uncle's. I is a wind up clock which uses a key. It would loose about 5 minutes a day and the "speed bar" was slid to the fastest point. Since I had the clock for over 10 years with nothing done to it, I thought I should take it to be cleaned and lubricated. I took it to McGure Clocks and asked them to clean it. The guy there asked me why I wanted it cleaned. I told him it was old and was loosing 5 minutes a day. He responded with "that's great for a clock like this" and declined to clean it.



Fast forward 5 years... I hadn't wound the clock in years and thought I would wind it up. When I wound it, it didn't run at all. This time when I took it back, I explained that I wanted it cleaned because it wasn't running. He took one look at it and said it was too old and that he couldn't get parts for it (I don't think it even NEEDS any parts) and "not to ask him to clean it". He did offer to remove the works and put a battery operated movement in there...



I'm very disappointed in this place and I will find someone who will at least TRY lubricating it... Maybe I should just try taking it apart and spraying it with WD40....

McGuire's Clocks came out to my house the other day to repair my 9 tube grandfather clock that got broke during my recent move to Austin, Texas. My father in Houston told me to call McGuire's if I ever had any issues with it. I was glad I did. Ray did a fantastic job fixing my clock so I thought I would mention it here. I will definitely call McGuire's clocks again if I have any issues with it.
