After reading the highly favorable online reviews for Leonard's, I decided to try them out on my 2011 Ford Escape. No question: FIVE STARS. While doing the 10,000 servicing, they identified the cause of a problem I had and recommended taking it to the dealer since it would be under warranty. They said to have the dealer call them if they had any difficulty determining the problem. Sure enough, the dealer called them.
In addition, Leonard's staff is highly professional,friendly, and knowledgable, and their facility (South First St.) is spotless. They went to work on the car immediately, and the wait was a very reasonable 45 minutes.
The best auto servicing experience I've had in my 45 years of car ownership.
Being a female and going to take your car into the shop is always nerve racking. I've been taking my cars to Leonard's for years, and won't take it anywhere else. They are always straight and to the point and if there are expensive repairs involved, they have always presented me with multiple options if those were available.

Im fairly new to Austin and the time came around where I needed to get an oil change on my car. I searched the web and came across Leonard's. Their website was informative and professional and after I found out they had been in business for almost 40 years I thought how could they stay in business that long if they did crappy work. I made an appointment and gave them a shot... Im glad I did, it was fantastic! The work was performed as promised and the customer service was top notch. I will be taking both mine and my wifes car to Leonard's for all my car related needs from now on.

I'm not used to raving about an auto repair shop, but Leonard's Garage in Austin is just that good. I REALLY appreciate the up-front quoted price. I can't stand it when I take my car in for repair and then get a phone call later that afternoon about them not having a part in stock or whatever. Not to mention they were able to get my car back to me by the end of the day. These guys are alright by me and I'll be returning for sure.

My car wouldn't start one morning, and the AAA towing guy recommended Leonard's over the shop I wanted to go to. THANK GOODNESS! They are so friendly, very fast, and gave me options for what I could do now and what I could wait till later to take care of. I HIGHLY recommend them to everyone.

Let's face it: Finding a trustworthy and reliable mechanic can be difficult, and all it takes is one bad experience to send you on a search for other options. My wife and I have been taking our vehicles to Leonard's for quite a few years now. We have both found Jason and his crew to be honest and straightforward when diagnosing the problems we've had and offering options to remedy them, from the cheapest to most expensive. (I drive a Daewoo that I'm not interested in putting a lot of money into; I almost always choose the cheapest option to get me just a little further down the road.) After the work is done, you get a 5% credit toward any future repair, which come in pretty handy; the $200 repair job done on my Daewoo this past week ended up being $135 because I cashed in my 5% credits from past repairs.
We're also Preferred Customers because we've be taking our cars there for year, which entitles us to free oil changes for both of our vehicles, tire rotations, etc., and they'll wash our cars if we ask them to do so. We've had friends refer us to Leonard's, and we feel confident enough in the quality of their service to recommend them to others.

I absolutely cannot recommend this business.
They top number 1 at ""most unscruplous"". Including, but not limited to: Cutthroat. Immoral. Unethical. Unprincipled. Unconscionable. Machiavellian
I am very sorry to have to report this, but this is the case.
Please, Please Be Careful if you are going to be here & ASK for the old parts back, not that that would do any good anyway, because they would probably damage them.

I just moved to Austin and had a random local refer me to Leonard's. I needed new brakes and my hub assembly replaced. They offered me a ride to another location, but I chose to wait at their facilities instead. The staff was accommodating and extremely friendly. They even called me a week after my car had been serviced to make sure all was well. I have already been back for further work on my vehicle and will refer them to EVERYone in Austin because of their qualified technicians, stress-free environment and personable staff. Someone in the automotive dept. at Sears referred me to this place. My ""check engine"" light was on, and my car needed a new catalytic converter. They open early (which is good for me and my work), they scanned my car at no charge, told me exactly what was needed, and the total cost. They provided a rental car for the day at no charge and gave me an $80 gift toward my next visit to them. I also received a handwritten thank you note in the mail a week later...Nice touch!

My rear differential went out in my 2008 GMC truck. I have used Leonard's before and they always have done a good job working on my truck so I decided to take it to them again. They were very nice, honest, and didnt try to sell me anything I didnt need. The repair was done quickly and without any problems. I will continue to take my truck to Leonard's and reccommend them to all of my friends and family. This place is Awesome!
I went into Leonards garage after I bought my 2002 Chevy Silverado and they gave me the break down on what the car has wrong with it. Austin (salesman) was very honest to me in everything. He told me exactly what I need to get done in order to keep my truck safe, and what I could hold off on for a bit until I really needed it. I took my truck in and had a whole list of repairs done. within two days, they had replaced and fixed a countless number of problems and it has been running fantastic ever since. Great customer service, amazing mechanics and an all around great shop. I live about 20 miles away from the shop and still will go out of my way to make sure and get something as simple as an oil change done by them. Best shop in austin by far

We took our church van to the shop to get the front end checked out. They agreed it had a problem, but told me it was still under warranty and I should take it to the dealer. Leonard's did not charge me anything. Nice to know there are still honest folks.

i have taken my car to many places in the past and i have been told wrong diagnoses and scammed. but that didn't happen at Leonard's. they are honest and up front they don't try to sell you anything you don't need. i have always lived in the neighborhood and i have been to them once in the past. and when my car needed some costly repairs i went straight to them. Austin was amazing he helped me out so much and still is. i will always bring my car to them. it was the best experience i have ever had with my car and it is a welcoming and clean environment. they really know how to treat there customers. if you need car repairs go to them they are the best most professional people around.

My life is super busy and it is so nice to get a reminder in the mail for my oil change AND with a coupon! I did have to wait a bit but only bc I didnt have an appointment. It was really nice of them to see me, though, seeing that I was a walk in. Also I liked the 35 point check. And even more so I like how I was told when I should get everything changed. I didnt feel like I was being sucked in for money.
**The only thing I would have changed would have been the tv station. I hate Glenn Beck and would prefer not to have to listen to him.

I have taken a total of 4 different vehicles (work and personal) to Leonard's since 2003. I appreciate walking into a clean garage and most of all friendly folks.
I recently strayed to a place on Slaughter that offered a cheap oil change only to be told I needed $1,500 worth of repair to my '07 Highlander. They assumed it was under warranty but it wasn't. I worried for a whole month thinking I bought a lemon, my 50K maintenance was up and I returned to Leonard's only to be told that there was nothing was wrong with my car.
I won't stray again I can guarantee you that.
I highly recommend Leonard's for all your car repairs.
They are honest people doing a hard days work!

FIRST, THIS PLACE IS NOT IN NORTH AUSTIN, IT'S IN SOUTH AUSTIN! This is not an ordinary thing for me to do, I like so many people do not usually take the time to comment on my experiences with businesses. However, when Leonard's Garage asked me to give them a review, I had to respond. Leonard's has been taking care of me and my cars for Years! I go there because I know I can trust them to do the right thing. I go there because I feel welcomed and comfortable that anything I ask or need to know about , I will be treated with patience and respect. As a ""woman alone"" I appreciate that.
Now businesses are like people, they have their ups and downs. Employees come and go, and I have to admit, I have liked and appreciated some more than others through the years. Mistakes and misunderstandings do occur, but as far as I know there has always been someone you could go to, to resolve any problems you may encounter. Their motto is: Customer Service is an attitude, not a department.
The most recent service done for me at Leonard's Garage, was a new set of tires for my SRX Cadillac. The car was always a little ""unstable"" on the road, especially when it rained. I had to be so careful when I turned a corner, or was in a curve, or the tires would ""break loose"" and my car would try to ""spin out"". Well, when those tires finally needed to be replaced, Jason put on a set of tires that absolutely stopped the problem. I feel so safe and secure in my car now.
I take my car in for the smallest things, even when it's ""nothing to worry about"", for oil changes, trip checks, and squeaks and squeals! lol Sometimes I just drop by to say ""Hi"" to the guys.
I RECOMMEND LEONARD'S GARAGE TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY, AND TO ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE YOU CAN TRUST!
