Well just got back from Azul Tquila, its been a good place for me and the wife to visit for dinner, this time round celebrating my sons 21's birthday, the service was just ok, the food was cold, and make sure you watch your bill we got stiffed for a $20 gratuity tip even though there was only 4 of us in our party, did not notice that till we left. So watch your bill as this is NOT the first time the screwed us on our bill!!! WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!!!
Great local restaurant with cheap lunch specials, tasty queso, and excellent margaritas (the blue marg is their signature, though I prefer the house). Service is always prompt and friendly and they can accommodate large groups at a moments notice. Never have to wait to be seated. A lunch spot favorite and a favorite of Adam Richmond from Man vs Food!

I've been to Azul Tequila twice. Their pozole is awesome and my boyfriend loves their migas plate. The staff is very friendly. Service was a little slow, but overall, a great dining experience. We live in North Austin but will make special trips South to eat at Azul Tequila..can't wait to try their margaritas next time.

We have frequented this place and always vow not to go back as it seems every 1 out of 3 times they end up trying to cheat us on the bill. They don't give us the discount they should on the appetizer or charge for something we didn't order and the Management is not Customer Service oriented. It's their way or the highway and we've decided not to go back. I hope this will prevent others from having a bad experience.

Just called today to order lunch for the workplace.
They wanted to charge 2-3 dollars more than the menu prices for each meal and would not provide chips for the guacamole salad unless they were purchased with salsa for 3.99 more.
They have good food but they have turned me away by advertising a price and while your not lokking add up the bill.
We canceled our order and ate elsewhere

We were charged regular price on our drinks and appetizers during happy hour. The website has different information on the daily happy hour specials but once your there and you get your bill they stiff you. I talked to the manager and they still didn't want to give us the discount how it's listed on their menu. I asked the waiter from the very beginning before we ordered so we wouldn't have any issues and when we got our bill the waiter changed everything he had told us, even though several of us heard him. The manager was not helpful at all we tried to talk to her about it and of course she didn't listen either. The happy hour drinks say $3.75 and your bill tells you $4.75 then where is the darn discount. The manager didn't even give us the discount for our appetizers like it mentions on the menu as well. Always check your bill and make sure it's correct not that you will have any luck with money hungry people. I know times are hard but when you stiff your customers for the lack of business then that is not good business practices. I also noticed the prices on their menus went up. We were over charged by $23.00 dollars so I give this restaurant a thumbs down.

I have been going to Azul Tequila for a couple years ... once every couple of months or so. I've always had good experiences. Good food, good staff, great drinks!
Unfortunately Friday I had a terrible experiance. In short:
- Knats everywhere inside
- Slowest service I've ever had, and we were 1 of 3 tables seated in the restaurant
- We ordered plates we've had before and loved, but they were inedible on Friday
- When we complained the waitress shrugged and said, ""Most people like it""
- We asked for a manager and never got one
- We asked for a check twice and never got it
- Finally we put the cash on the table (tip included!) and got up to leave. A waitress chased us to the front door and blocked us from leaving because she assumed we hadn't paid
- I emailed the restaurant when I got back to work and have had no response
- It's been 3 days since and not the waitress, not the other employees, not whoever checks their email ... no one has even so much as apologized. Unfortunately, we spent $45 that day and left hungry. I had to get a snack from the vending machines at work.
Like I said .... normally I am very happy and enjoy that restaurant, but I'm very unhappy with my last experiance and their (lack of) response or apology.

My partner and I have been going to Azul Tequila for a couple of years now because we love their Mariachi. The food is not bad but their drinks are good. If you are a light weight be careful because they are strong. The best thing on their menu is probably the Caldo de Pollo but my partner likes their nachos and the fajitas.

This is a great little place to go for lunch. I've been for dinner a few times, but I feel the value and menu for lunch were more my taste. The lunch menu is very reasonable. I recommend the tortilla soup with chicken enchiladas. The salsa and queso are also very good, not too spicy, but not like stewed tomatoes either. I've read some of the other reviews and am shocked that someone would get that detailed about their inner workings and that they really felt the food to be the cause... I, nor anyone I've brought to this place have ever felt anything but full and happy when we dined here. Although it's in a strip mall, it does have a little patio out front. It's a nice place to grab lunch when you are in the area shopping and the staff is quite friendly.

I won't tell a lie, the food was delicious. At the end of the meal, my boyfriend, mom and I could not stop ranting about how authentic and delicious the food was, and about the promptness of the service. However, we did not realize truly how authentically Mexican the food was until the next day...when we all came down with a nasty case of runny poops. But it didn't stop just there, a week later and still every thirty minutes I have to sprint to the bathroom before I shart all over myself. I thought the earlier post of ""explosive ...."" was a joke, but take heed, it is not as funny when it is happening to you. Eat Azul Tequila and expect a week of runny, painful poops.
*I wanted write d-i-a-r-r-h-e-a but citysearch wouldn't let me, deeming it an ""inappropriate word"". Seems like a pretty important word for a website that reviews restaurants to me.

I've been here at least ten times, and I think it's one of Austin's best Mexican restaurants. I've only had to wait for a table once, and that wasn't very long. The food is really good, especially the fish, the conchinita pibil, the mole and pipian sauce, and the ""cowboy relleno,"" a chili poblano stuffed with shrimp and topped with chipotle sauce. The service is impeccable, the drinks great, and the food some of the tastiest in town. I love this place!

Being new SW Austinites, we were looking for a good Mexican restaurant close to home. Other restaurants had disappointed these picky diners, but Azul Tequila. Our Thursday evening visit found the restuarant full but with no wait time for a table. We were promptly served a bowl of chips and salsa with just the right amount of heat to it. Based on recommendations we had read online, we ordered the ""Chile Relleno en crema"" and chicken fajitas. Neither one of us could stop saying ""MMMMmmmm"". The Relleno en crema was bursting with flavor in every bite. The fajitas were tender, flavorful, and came with the traditional complement of sides. The surprise of our visit was the WONDERFUL Mariachi Band that serendaded diners. We can't wait to go back and sample more of their menu and hear some more mariachi music. Highly recommended!

beef fajitas wth charro beans, tasted ok. tea too and that was alright as well... about 15-20 minutes afterward , I had to get to a bathroom fast, because I had diarrhea. which I thought might have been intentional, the older lady (who maybe the manager/owner) brought my ten-dollar bill I paid with back to me to request a different bill. The $10 bill was not one of the new issues, but was an older bill. She thought it was counterfeit, I thought she was stupid, I was a regular customer, I got upset and didn't tip her. I went back though (to show no hard feelings and that I am a decent tipper). anyway, she looked at me when I walked in this time and it gave me a strange feeling... then, the diarrhea. you decide I guess... as for me, I won't go back.

I ordered chalupas and the tostada(the crunchy shell it comes on) was soggy. I asked for cheese on it and didn't get it. My friend ordered enchiladas with no meat but it had meat on it. We wanted to just pay for our drinks and go and the manager was very rude to us because of this. I'm in the service industry so I know good service when I get it. I will never go there again!

Azul's is a great place to spend time catching up with friends over great food and great margarita's. The tortilla soup is something to brag about but that also goes for everything else on the menu! Service always comes with a smile and so do the mariachis. I'd highly recommend visiting at least once to make your own comparison but don't leave without having a blue margarita!

I'm not a huge fan of Tex mex, being a new transplant to Austin, but you can't be here and not eat it. That being said, Azul Tequila really floored me. The margaritas were without qualification the best I have EVER had. The tex-mex was astounding and really redefined my view of tex mex (the shrimp with chipotle is to die for); my husband had a recommended chille relleno en crema and it was great too. Mariachis play on Fridays and Saturdays. All in all- fantastic. It was very busy though, and they don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait (though not as long as trudy's across the street which is not half as good)Good prices too.
