They pastor and staff will harass you if you get on their bad side. I wouldn't recommend this church to anyone. It;s toxic.
I had a wonderful experience at Grace Covenant! Coming from a 'seeker sensitive' church, the worship I experienced here seemed authentic and Christ-centered!! It was a beautiful church, the music was amazing, the people were friendly and my kids loved it too. Matt, their senior pastor, was genui…
We came to Reach Church because a dear friend and member there seemed to be transformed. We had known her from another church in the past. She now has joy and a sparkle in her eyes which we had never seen in her before. When we came, we found a friendly environment with outstanding worship. The pastors preach relevant messages directly from the word of God. Jim S
I had a wonderful experience at Grace Covenant! Coming from a 'seeker sensitive' church, the worship I experienced here seemed authentic and Christ-centered!! It was a beautiful church, the music was amazing, the people were friendly and my kids loved it too. Matt, their senior pastor, was genuine and real- the sermon seemed 'heartfelt', it didn't feel 'produced' like so many of the pastors/sermons in larger Austin churches. I was genuinely impressed, but more importantly, the focus was and is where it needs to be: on GOD- on Jesus Christ's FINISHED WORK ON THE CROSS.
Seems like a fairly decent close-knit church, although I've only visited once. The sermon was pretty good, although the praise music was ear-splittingly loud. The people (mostly college students) were very friendly and enthusiastic. Some major features of the church are its four on-campus outreach programs, one of which is specifically geared toward international students. Anyone UT students interested in spreading the gospel and studying the Bible with other believers can join these programs.Something worth noting: Although this church is located right behind the infamous University Baptist Church, Hill Country is not affiliated with it. However, they do rent their building from UBC.
Hope Chapel draws people from all over Austin, including professionals, artists, geeks, young families, UT students, retired couples, and musicians. It's a real community, like a family you choose. It's not a big church, and it's humble in appearance, but there's a lot of love.
