This is the BEST place to leave your dogs for boarding. My dog comes home so exhausted from all the playing/exercising they do there that he sleeps for a couple of days. I would recommend that you spend the extra money for a bath at the end.

The first time I dropped my pooch off at Taurus on South Lamar, I felt a bit weary, only because I have never trusted my dog with a complete stranger. Little did I know that I had nothing to worry about! While I was away for one week, I called everyday to get the status of my dog and they said s…

From Business: It was my dog's idea, says Robin Perdue, of how the business beganit was part of Dog Vader's dream. Perhaps not all humans take career advice from a canine. But, then, not all companies boast a ( fictitious ) board of directors comprised of four-legged friends. All animals have a voice here, Perdue adds with tongue planted…

From household hazards to insurance, here is a roundup of our best tips for ensuring your pet's safety.
Just like the planning that went into your vacation, there is planning needed before boarding your pet. Here are some dos and don'ts to help make the process a little easier.
I have boarded Lady my "special needs dog" with Mike and Nancy several times and have to say that this negative review is way off base. They are ALWAYS out with the dogs in the play yards. My dog is a sweetie but skittish around strangers. Mike and Nancy immediately picked up on this during our first visit and knew exactly how to approach Lady and make her feel very comfortable. I have NEVER seen Lady warm up to anyone as quickly as she did to them. They asked a lot of questions about temperament, past experiences and I could tell that they were determining which play group to put Lady in because on their excellent understanding of dog psychology. I would never hesitate to leave my beloved, spoiled rotten dog with Mike and Nancy. She ALWAYS comes home a little dirty, somewhat exhausted and extremely happy! The negative reviewer mentioned loud barking several times in their review. Well DUH!...thats what dogs do when they are having fun and being dogs. BOTTOM LINE: If your dog is a pampered pooch then this place definitely is NOT for you. If your dog likes to romp and play with others until falling over completely exhausted and totally happy, then this is the place for you.
I love Bobbi Colorado's Canine Camp, and more importantly, so does my dog! I have taken my dogs there for a couple years now and never had any problems. When my older dog got sick they called my with updates and even took him to the vet for me...they were as concerned as I was. I wasn't able to return early so they did everything possible to make sure he got cared for and recovered. My new dog has been there twice now and received excellent care, lots of supervised play, and even individual training that cured him of a bad habit we had been trying to break him of! The trainer was wonderful and Bobbi and Ken are always fantastic, both are warm and kind and I feel like they really care about the dogs. I have never before had a kennel send me photos of my dog playing while kenneled! I am looking into more training for my dog at Bobbi's as well as supervised play since he is an only dog at home. I highly recommend this kennel!
For everyone who firmly believes that their dog is a member of the family and deserves the best possible treatment....This Is the Place!! My Furbaby, like everyone's, has his own peculiararities but the folks at Highmark seem to be able to identify these and deal with them in a very positive manner. This means that my demanding, independant Bouvier comes home happy because he THINKS that he has been in charge! In addition to very positive daycare and boarding experiences, the groomer (Tiffany) is wonderful. Very few groomers really understand how to work with this breed. She not only does a great job of making him look beautiful, but she manages his "attitude" so that the process is almost stress-free for the dog. I am thrilled with the whole complement of services available at Highmark!
You get what you pay for. I learned this a long time ago, and while Jim's service may cost more than the average dog groomer, your dog will appreciate it. 1) He comes to you on your schedule. right to your house. Always on time. 2) My dog has sensitive skin, (he is a Westie), and the products used don't irritate him. 3) It is always the same groomer - not whoever is available. This builds trust with my dog. 4) Your dog is the only one being groomed, so you don't have to worry about other dogs creating an unfriendly environment 5) No dryer boxes. 6) Nail filing, instead of cutting - safer and gentler. I can go on and on, but you get the idea. Thumbs up!
Mike and Nancy abviously love animals, and provide great care with lots of love. Our German Short Hair Pointer has TONS of energy, and loves expending it all at AGAPE every time she gets the thrill of staying there. We last picked her up while driving a Miata, and while sitting on my wife's lap she fell asleep with her head on my arm that was resting on the gear shift! She ran and played the whole time she was at AGAPE ACRES, and was also exhausted from all of the love and attention received while there. Mike and Nancy are just great, and we love knowing we have a great place to leave our dog for extended stays whenever necessary.
Excellent groomers!! My dogs are getting old, and the mobile service is great for them. If they have ever been groomed with better results, I do not remember it. They looked beautiful with perfect coats and feet and ears! Not only do Jim and Caroline do an outstanding job with every detail of grooming, but they show a sincere concern for the the pets. And if they charge more than some grooming services, it is more than worth the difference. I feel like we got really great value. I look forward to the next time!
We have boarded our dog at Agape Acres several times when we have gone out of town. So these were extended stays. Each time went flawless. Duke was taken care of and fed very well. He hasn't been around very many other dogs. But that didn't faze Mike and Nancy. They were sensitive to that. And each time when we returned for him, he was romping with the other dogs there. So our experiences with Agape Acres have been very positive. If we need to board Duke again in the future, we will go back to Agape Acres.
I was told when I dropped off my dog for the week, that the dog's will be out in a dusty dirty yard for play time. They even asked if my dog had been given fleas/tic meds. The employee told me that they recommended paying for a bath before I picked him up. When I picked him up he had fleas. I reminded them that I had paid for a bath in advance. I was told that flea baths are done upon request. Come on...you knew the dog had fleas when you bathed him, and you didn't use fleas soap???? Morons!
I recently boarded my dog here, and I have to say that I have never been so pleased! It's a small place with exceptional personlized service. The staff was knowledgable and friendly, and the owners even came down to chat with me when I picked up and dropped off. I liked that they do play groups as a part of the regular boarding rate. My dog was playing when I came to pick her up and she was having a blast! I definitely reccomend this facility. Fantastic!
Mike and Nancy, Thank you so much for taking care of our dogs while my family was on vacation, they loved it and so did we!! Knowing we have a kennel where we can trust our dogs are fully cared for is such a wonderful feeling. The guys were exhausted from all the play time and swimming pool fun, they were so spoiled. Thanks again so much and we look forward to doing business with you again soon! The Mouton's.
