Review feedback Real McCoy As most mothers do, I looked forward to the wedding of my daughter with great anticipation. We are members of a private club which allowed us use of their ballroom for her wedding. However, having never taken on such an affair, I naturally became overwhelmed as the date neared. We participated in a few 'tastings' offered by local restaurants and caterers. After tasting so many versions of "rubber chicken" I knew we needed to find something much better! In my search for something better, I came upon a website with absolutely beautiful and artistically presented food. The photo showed a large filet mignon covered with a prawn next to fresh asparagus and a stuffed mushroom. Wow! This is more like it! I sent a message for more information with trepidation. Surely these photos would prove to be taken under 'artistic license' with disappointment headed in my direction. My trepidation dissolved once I spoke with and later met the very charismatic, Chef Lavell! Chef Lavell listened to my needs and produced exactly what I was seeking. Not only would Chef Lavell produce art, that art would taste like the best meal ever eaten. His attitude and professional self confidence filled me with glee. We had 100 guests and 100 people raving about the meal enjoyed by all at the wedding. To serve that many filet mignon dinners with such grace and quality is a miracle of creation. Magically, all guests were served simultaneously to perfection. Each and every guest felt as though this magnificent meal was made just for them. Chef LaVell promised he would bring professionally trained wait staff and bartenders. He did not disappoint. The attire of his staff complemented the formal atmosphere of our wedding party and guests. The grace of serving our guest rivaled the finest restaurants anywhere in the world. If you want your guests complementing the food weeks after the affair, hire The Real McCoy! You will not find a better caterer in Texas! Chef Lavell is a rock star! He is the real deal. I am so happy to have found this gem of a chef before he became so famous. I am looking forward to his new book sharing so many of his secret recipes! Any affair in our family's future will be created by Chef Lavell.
Realizing most of these reviews are really old, I decided to give this place a chance. Needless to say, I was more than pleasantly surprised. The second I walked in the store, I was greeted with a "Welcome to Ulta!" even though the cashiers were busy. Two in particular, Stacy (a quiet, tall person), and Emily (shorter, dark hair) were extremely friendly and helped me find a new mascara I absolutely ADORE as well as a few other things (the store still has a tendency to be a little confusing at times, unfortunately, but I know it's not the fault of the people there). The best person there was a quieter girl (unfortunately, I can't remember her name at the moment... I'm sure it'll come back to me later...) who worked as the skin therapist. Emily directed me to her at one point when I asked her a question about skin care products, and I'm honestly so glad I got the chance to talk to this wonderful girl. She smiled and asked me what I was looking for before making recommendations, most of which I was unsure about until she started explaining the benefits and differences of each one. She even asked me about what I am using at home to see if there was anything I should change about my routine. I eventually decided to get the $20 "microzone" she recommended (they're like mini-facials), and have discovered that it was not only more than I expected, but well worth every penny spent and more. I have never felt my skin so soft and smooth before, and in only 20 minutes! I made another appointment with her in just another couple of weeks, and will definitely be keeping it!
I did a fair amount of research before deciding to take my BMW to Active Motorwerks. I have been in the Automobile business for twenty five years, and I know all most all of the tricks, and the ins and outs. My experience started with a pleasant telephone call, resulting in an appointment. Already impressed with the efficiency of the outfit, I took my car down there for what I hoped to be a routine procedure. Mario and his crew did everything they agreed to do , and a whole lot more. The trouble with the 540i was much greater than expected, but with the aid of the computer readout, Mario took me through all of the scenarios, explaining my options at every juncture. Although, I didn't want to spend the money, the empirical evidence on the computer screen was backed up with straight talk and common sense. I thoroughly recommend Active Autowerks to anyone with a BMW. I drove down from Salado, TX, and it was well worth it. It is refreshing to work with straight talking honest people who have the technical know how and demonstrate evidence to support their diagnoses. By the way, their labour rate , at $100.00/hr, is less than most domestics, who range from $112.50 to $120.00 . I'm not saying they should raise it, but it does underscore the value of a facility which specialises in jobs other people don't have the expertise to touch. Great job, guys. I will not bring my cars anywhere else.
I've been going to Avant for about 13 years now and have been through several stylists and used different services from them. Overall, I really like the place. I got my last haircut from a stylist that I hadn't used before, Daisy, and she was great. She was really fast and gave me a great haircut that didn't look like I had just gotten it cut. I love that. The salon always smells nice since they use Aveda's aromatherapy products, and my favorite part is getting my hair washed. The aromatherapy scalp massage is always so relaxing. I also like the other nice touches like a beverage bar with a single serve coffee machine, cold water dispenser, juice pitchers, etc. Also, Avant sometimes has a 15% off sale for their gift cards and Aveda products which are a steal of a deal since they're almost never on sale. So here's the ugly for why they don't get 5 stars. I had been using a stylist for years and then all of a sudden, she was gone. I found out that she was accused of colluding with some other stylists to start a new salon, so she was let go because of it. Well, I know for a fact that that wasn't the case, and they never apologized to her or even offered to take her back. She had been working there and had worked her way up ever since she graduated from high school. I'm still a little disturbed by this and don't know how I feel about it.
The Real McCoy recently catered our wedding at The Long Center and we could not have been more happy with the results. Our original caterer backed out on us less than two weeks before the wedding and we were extremely fortunate that Lavell and his team were able to step in to help out. He listened to what we had envisioned for the reception, took our basic ideas for the menu, and then transformed them into truly wonderful dishes. The macaroni and cheese they created was sensational and the guests loved it (including me and I am very hard to please when it comes to that dish). He even made vegan baked beans taste amazing, and that's a nearly impossible task to accomplish! There were nearly 150 guests in attendance and not one of them had anything negative to say about the food, the service or the staff...in fact everyone had many nice things to say about the quality and taste of the food. Working with The Real McCoy Catering was extremely easy and I only wish we had started out with them; our stress levels would have been lowered considerably! Lavell is a true professional and exceeded our expectations, all at a very affordable price. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an exceptional caterer.
Wow… where do I start. I had the pleasure of working with the Real McCoy catering this spring. I was planning an Anniversary Dinner for my brother and his wife. This was an outside event that was catered. We wanted an elegant yet casual feel to it. Lavell worked with me to get the menu I needed, assisted with the floral arrangements and preparation of the table setting. The staff was very courteous, professional and willing to go above and beyond to make this event perfect. Once our guest arrived the Severs "didn’t miss a beat" in making them feel welcomed. Before a glass was emptied, a server was there to fill it. The meal was served just as we requested and the portion sizes were definitely worth the price. The taste was "MARVELOUS". It was HOT and the presentation was BEAUTIFUL. We were served a three course meal as if we were sitting in a restaurant. I can’t RAVE enough about the EXCELLANT service. I would definitely work with Lavell and his team again. He definitely receives an A++ in my book. Please tell your friends about this catering company... I surely will. Thanks again for the GREAT Service "The Real McCoy", your name speaks for itself. Ms. Val
Lavell did an amazing job on everything. He was patient and made sure we got to try about 10 different things on our tasting (which probably took him the whole day to prepare, including prime rib). The day of the wedding he was on point and everyone was complimenting how delicious the food was and every one got their fill. For 200 people all of the food was consistent at the perfect temperature and prepared. We had 3 side along with chicken and prime rib and four cocktail appetizers. Nothing ever ran out, but the leftovers were minimal (great job estimating the amount needed). One big detail that put Lavell over the top is the after party. The father of the bride wanted to have a little after party at his house with menudo, tamales, and tacos (attended by about 50 people). Lavell and his crew worked over time to continue cooking and get the additional food ready. The menudo (usually an acquired taste) was by far the best anyone had ever had (and this was a big Mexican family) (the tamales dipped in the menudo was the best part). Lavell finally got to take a break at about 2 AM (starting at 2 PM). Dedicated, honest, and overall a great chef. Cannot recommend Lavell McCoy enough.
I just moved to Austin and had such a hard time trying to find the right stylist for my hair. I have long curly hair which can be cut and styled, but never am I able to get that salon look on my own. Well lady luck must have been on my side when I came upon Salon Sirrah. I have to admit I was skeptical, thinking this might be yet another salon where a ton of money is spent on a seemingly great hairstyle that I can't style on my own. Shelly was the hair dresser recommended to me by one of the staff at the salon. Let me just say, she is a Hair Goddess. What she did to my hair was absolutely fantabulous!! Everyone at my job, my husband, and friends loved my new look. More importantly, I now have the versatility of wearing my hair both curly and straight w/o difficulty. I can't thank her enough. She was super patient and honest about what styles would look best with my face shape. She also reassured me that if I had any problems styling my hair I could call her, or just come back in to the salon and she would show me how to style my hair. Where else would you get that kind of service?
They like to save you money through smart preventive care. Respectful. Honest. Edin and Amela are so passionate about automotive work, they'll educate you on paper (draw a diagram, write a list of the parts in question on a legal pad) and then point out the actual parts in your car, show you an old part and a new one, explain how the pieces work or why the fluid needs to be replaced and in what time frame. They even helped me get compensation from a different auto repair place that had used an incorrect bolt on one of my struts. They stand behind their work with old-fashioned ethics & integrity. You'll feel like you have dear friends or family members working on your car, who really care. They work on transmissions and did my 100K mile tuneup. They also do jobs as small as an oil change, but it's the kind of oil change where they check your alignment & tire pressure & fluid levels and inform you if anything needs attention. They're kind & humane. They'll offer help with logistics, like taking you to work or driving your second vehicle to wherever you need it.
When my Audi A6 started slamming hard between 1st and 2nd I was pretty nervous about what was happening to my car. I have had it for a few years now without any issues at all, and although it has quite a bit of miles the car always drove great. Anyways, I did some research online and saw that Reliable has a north shop but just opened this shop which is closer to where I live. I liked that they had free towing because I stopped driving it after the harsh shifts. I didn't want to cause anymore damage then what was already done. So the towing was free and the inspection was free, everything was starting out on the right foot. David gave me a call with what they found, and the parts that he told me were damaged were consistent to the research I had done online myself. His prices were reasonable and payment plans worked well for me. As a young professional who just graduated, this repair really didn't have the best timing. But anyways, just everything from start to finish went smooth and pain free. David is great, he made this experience not so bad after all.
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
