I have had three MRIs at your location this year, you have a wonderful facility and I enjoy having my tests done at Touchstone. I have had numerous tests, procedures, surgeries and so on over the years so I am not a stranger to the field. I am always a professional patient, I try not to interfere with a tech when positioning me for a procedure.On Friday evening I had an issue while having my MRI, the tech (Jenn) positioned me in a way my arm was shaking (visibly) and in tremendous pain. I also had part of the table jabbing me in the back the entire time. I asked Jenn about the shaking and pain and she said the shake made no difference and we are almost done numerous times about the pain regarding my arm and my back which I just had surgery on in September. I felt like my bicep was going to explode, my arm was positioned at 45’, elbow down with palm up. I didn’t have any support around my arm. I did ask about it several times to no avail. I did not feel she had my best interests at hand and I do not like complaining, but this will go down as my worst experience on a radiology table.
Extremely misleading billing practices and rude staff. Their stated policy is no fee for the first late appointment, but I received a bill for $100. They said, "Oh, that's a physical. That's different."
Worse than my experiences at Kaiser.Dr. Salzberg seemed nice in person but her and her staff did not follow through on anything we agreed to.After drawing 6 tubes of blood I received my results from the lab in the postal mail. I waited for Dr Salzburg to follow up. Finally after a call and an email me to her we were able to chat three weeks later.She also promised me a referral to another specialist and again I had to wait three weeks, call and email before I received this referral.I had tests done at another facility except the office at New West never called in that order. When I called from the office on the day of my test New West refused to send a work order over. The office I was at called and set them straight and got what we needed but were not willing to help when I told them exactly what the office told them, namely "we need a work order, not a referral". Those results were then sent to Dr. Dalzberg for interpretation. She said she would send the results to me but I never received them (again).On the day of my meeting with another specialist I could not get those records sent to me or the office. I called 5x. They said, in order:-We will send in 30 minutes.-Sending right now, look for it.-Me: Do you even have these records?-Operator - Oh no, we don't. They must be at home with Dr. Salzberg. We don't have them.-Transferred to voicemail limbo.-Finally reached assistant Nurse, Yadi, who was super rude and said I was impatient for not waiting longer than 3 weeks to follow up on blood work. She claimed she faxed the requested records directly to my specialists office and yet an hour later no one had received them.I will never, never go back to this facility. Dr. Salzberg dropped the ball three times and her staff did an even worse job in following up with even further incompetence and rudeness.
Lately this facility has lost touch with their personal side. Everyone is a number, an insurance claim or a file and paperwork, rather than a human being.I have been going to this doctor for almost 30 years. I asked for a simple letter based on my recent annual physical and I was asked to come in, fill out paperwork (health questions, etc), pay my co-pay and insurance...all for a stupid letter that the doctor could have written in 2 minutes. When asked WHY? The office staff couldn't answer me. If the doctor and front office staff don't communicate, then you have a problem. I will never go there again.
I had an appt. I had to wait 5 weeks for, I am on oxygen, and they were so slow my oxygen was running out, they were 45 minutes late, I asked for an emergency bottle of O2, and they looked at me like oh well, them one of the staff asked if I could hold on for a while, I have severe C.O.P.D. I could not wait, and after a few more minutes I left, they remind me of a bunch of chicken just roaming around without a purpose.
I can honestly give 4 stars due to the excellent doctor I had; the only thing lacking is empathy, understanding towards an individual with financial hardship. I had to file bankrupcy due to the high cost of medical bills- pushing me right over the edge. Today, I was told, due to policy, I can no longer be a patient. Yikes!Because, I made no attempt to pay my debit, prior to file bankrupcy. Seriously! $120 was paid actually! This company is, simply shallow minded. :(
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE place, I paid my doctor bill four months ago. I currently have a Dr's bill for 42.00 I just paid. They refuse to let me set an appointment because they are showing the accounts open. The billing office they hire is awesome and tried to help. The records don't get updated, the staff is SO RUDE. I have Asthma and cannot even get an inhaler prescription I have had MY ENTIRE life, due to this past due 42.00 that is not past due. They are not helpful at all, customer service is out the window at this place and I hope the Doctors at some point check into their staff that actually deals with the customer service side. I am officially after five years with their office leaving for good. Sad because I like all the Doctors.
I've been to this office countless times since I was younger and it was always...so-so. The wait takes forever, they usher people in and out like cattle, but the doctors have always been nice (when they get to you). The past year has been the WORST experience of my entire life, however. I was seen in February for a regular visit, four months after that I received a notice I was in collections for $61. I had never received a phone call, a card, an email or a letter/bill from the company (local or out of state) at all. I was baffled, but paid it right away knowing it's not that big of a statement. Today, TEN months after that visit I get another notice that I'm in collections for $99. Again, I have NEVER received a statement, phone call, letter, card, carrier pigeon! This office not only acts like they don't care about you (I've heard the receptionists talk very rude and unprofessional on the phone to patients and other offices alike), but they clearly DON'T care about you. They don't care what you need, about your time or anything...and they don't even make the courteous and professional effort to contact you in regards to bills, medical issues, follow-ups etc. Oh but wait...I can get a letter in the mail from them telling me I cannot go there with my insurance company because they are dropping carriers left and right, but I cannot get a statement telling me I have a bill that needs to be paid before they shoot me off to collections? I will never set foot in these offices again, good doctors or not, and I hope no one will. This isn't the first problem I've had them with, but I certainly won't put myself in the position to have it happen again.
This place is absolutely ridiculous. I'm just now getting collection calls about a $93 visit in February 2008!!!!! I would have paid this immediately and now I'm dealing with it! I was in AmeriCorps at the time and did not see any doctors for non-mandatory Americorps related services. I have been easy to find, same phone # for over 5 years. This is ridiculous. I don't even recall going here and can't even get in touch with anyone here to help me. If you've ever been here, you may want to check your credit statement in 6 years to see if you owe any $$!! Absolute BS!
Dr. Kelly Gerow was a disappointment for me. Scheduling an appointment is very difficult. It often takes two months before she can see you for a Pap. This was my second appointment with her and both times my wait has been between 25-30 minutes. The office is very dirty. The examination room had not been properly cleaned before I came in. Also, the restroom they use for patient’s urine samples was filthy! There was a dirty pee stained napkin where I was supposed to put my urine sample. Her nurse was very rude to me and made several negative comments about my acne (as if I could help my breakouts!). This left me feeling very uncomfortable and embarrassed about my personal appearance. The nurse was not confidential either. When I was changing into my gown, she abruptly opened the door without knocking and waiting. She then proceeded to ask me personal questions about a urine sample I had just given. The entire time she was asking me these confidential questions, the door was open! I was shocked by how unprofessional the nurse was. When Dr. Gerow actually met with me, the Pap took about 5 minutes. She never discussed birth control options with me or asked about my sexual health history. I left and wondered if I needed to go to another gynecologist to redo the Pap. I will not be returning. I have filed a formal complain with the Department of Health and Human resources for uncleanliness.

Patients can choose from a wide variety of physicians depending on doctor specialty and what problems they are experiencing. Here are a few of the most common types of physicians that you may see in your lifetime:
Your GP is the doctor that you go to for regular checkups, vaccines and to identify health issues. GPs can treat many different illnesses and injuries, from the common cold to a broken arm. If your health requires a second opinion or expert care, the GP will refer you to a specialist who has the skills to focus in on the issue.

Look at Your Insurance
Before you get down to the details, you need to verify which doctors are covered by your insurance and whether they are in or out of your carrier's network. Rates may be cheaper if the doc is in network – a doctor can be covered by your insurance but not necessarily in network. Out of network is typically more expensive. Doctors often add and drop plans, so it's important to ensure that your options are compatible with your insurance plan. Doing your homework will help you avoid unexpected expenses.
Check for Board Certification
Your physician should be certified through the American Board of Medical Specialties. Doctors must earn a medical degree from a qualified school, complete three to seven years of residency training, be licensed by a state medical board and pass one or more ABMS exams to be certified.

Reviews of a doctor can reveal a lot about what your experience may be like. People may grade on staff friendliness, availability and effectiveness of treatment. Looking at these evaluations and getting recommendations from family and friends can direct you toward a physician for your needs.

Surgeons should be willing to go over the details of your procedure and answer any questions that you may have. They must take the time to discuss and address your worries.
If you're going in for surgery, you want someone that knows what they're doing and has a high success rate. Ask how often the surgeon performs this surgery and try to find one that regularly does it. This will give you peace of mind that you're in capable hands.

They need the ID numbers to verify your coverage, and will usually make a copy of the card for their files so you don't have to show it again unless your insurance changes.

The nurse will tell you how the procedure went, what effect it will have on your condition, what to expect when you get home and how long it will take to get back to normal. If you start feeling pain, the nurse may give you medication to stop it from getting worse. When possible, it's also advised to move around to avoid blood clots from developing in your legs. This can be as simple as occasionally flexing your knee or rotating your foot.
Some surgeries are outpatient procedures, where people are released the same day. For major surgeries, patients may stay at the hospital for a few days to be monitored and address any concerns before being sent home. Discuss with your surgeon the projected length of the hospital stay and what you need to bring.
Your recovery time and follow-up expectations will vary depending on your procedure. For example, you can be expected to be on your feet within a few days of having your wisdom teeth taken out, but it may be weeks before you have fully recovered from a broken foot or heart-valve surgery. Your surgeon will give you a list of things that you'll need to do during this time, including what medications to take and when you'll be able to get back to work and other activities.
Every surgery will have a follow-up call or appointment to discuss your recovery and allow you to ask any questions about unusual symptoms or changes in your overall health. If you have a major operation, like heart surgery, it's important to make regular checkups with your doctor or a specialist to ensure that everything is normal. Visiting a doctor will help deter infection and verify that everything is healing as expected.
