I came in on a Friday afternoon as my kitten had become incapacitated. We had no idea what happened. They quickly ran blood and an xray(15 min) to get the results. It turns out he was in kidney failure. Cleveland had a very small chance of survival. They gave fluids and other meds even kept him overnight. I picked up Cleveland late the next day. He made a full recovery. The doctors and all the staff are caring and wonderful people. I would and I do recommend this Vet to everyone.

Thank you to all of your caring staff

We were new to the area, and our old vet retired. Our 16 1/2 year old dog Abby was pretty ill and we did make the dreaded decision to go ahead and euthanasie her since her quality of life was not good. I had been driving by the Smokey Hill Vet clinic everyday and something told me that was the right place to go. I called and spoke with Ashley, she was very kind and patient with me explaining the procedure. We arrived the next day and were greeted with amazing staff. We felt they really did understand what a hard decision it was for us to make about our dog Abby. They offered a nice quiet room for us, no pressure toget this done quickly ~ as a matter of fact, they told us to take as much time as we needed. We did, and then doctor Jorgensen came in and made it so nice for us and our dog. She even hugged us, sharing in our grief. When we left, we were sad, yet felt it was right. I know that the caring staff made our experience and our dog Abby's so much better, and for this we thank you! We will return with our other 2 healthy dogs as we have found the right Vet for our pets.

Never again

I have been taking my animals to Smokey Hill Vets on an as needed basis since 2001. Initially I found both their professionalism and prices to be very good and I even recommended them to my friends. This year, however, I have been profoundly disappointed with their service. They are demanding an unnecessary examination to be done on my cat before they’ll allow me to buy a simple back of Science Diet cat food. The only reason my cat started on the food 9 years ago was to prevent a recurring health problem, and it worked. He’s healthy as long as he gets the right food. There’s nothing to examine. Yet in a transparent effort to drum up business on unnecessary services they refuse to sell me the food. I’m furious with their foolish need to sell unneeded service and I will NEVER use them again. Other vets will sell me the food without a fight…why can’t they?!

would not recommend to anyone

I don't know about the other vets there but I had a very bad experience with the male Dr. there. I was unhappy with a procedure that was done on my cat, when I confronted him about it he became very combative and condescending, when it was all said and done and I had paid my bill he told me never to come back and to not bother reporting him to the Board of Veterinary because it wouldn't do any good..I was shocked to say the least. .Fortunately in 25 years of caring for pets and their vet visits all experiences with veterinarians have been good except for this one..

Adequate for the basics and that's it

I've used Smoky Hill Vet Clinic for quite some time and for the basics like vaccinations, spay and neuter, heartworm testing and medication they are great, but if your dog or cat is sick and it isn't absolutely obvious what is wrong, go somewhere else. I have decided to leave the clinic after they repeatedly misdiagnosed or failed to diagnose potentially life threatening conditions in my dogs. In virtually every case, I have dropped several hundred at Smoky Hill only to have to go to Alameda East or the VRCC in the end to get my dog diagnosed properly and cured. Don't get me wrong, I do think the vets at Smoky Hill are caring - they just tend to be inexperienced (the best ones have tended to leave after 6 months to a year) and not have access to necessary diagnostic equipment. Dr. Mueller who owns the clinic is quite nice and experienced but he is almost always on-call seeing horses outside the clinic.
