Overall

Great place to get your animal spayed or neutered at a reasonable price. It doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg to be a responsible pet owner.

Animal Spay & Neuter is a fantastic, low cost clinic for getting your animals fixed. Although the time restraints of when to pickup / drop off are not very flexible, I think it is so worth it to get my dogs fixed here because the staff is phenomenal, and it is 3 x cheaper than most places. When I took my first dog here, they even gave her special treatment and held her most of the day instead of leaving her in her crate because she was whining. They were so good to her! And they gave her a stuffed animal to lay with...I really trusted them with my pup, and now I will be taking my next dog to them as well!

Preventive Care

Vaccination
Start series at 6-8 weeks of age and booster every 3-5 weeks until 16-18 weeks of age. Booster one year later and every 3 years thereafter. If series begun after about 3 months of age, only 2 vaccinations necessary, 3-5 weeks apart, for initial series.

Your pet will be examined by a veterinarian and this checkup gives us vital information to help keep your pet healthy.

*We highly recommend that all dogs older than eight months of age either be on heartworm preventative or have a negative heartworm test within the 30 days prior to surgery.
Pain Management
We require that all dogs three months and older be current on rabies vaccination. This can be done the day of surgery. We require that all dogs having surgery go home with pain medication and an E-collar.

Upper Respiratory Illness Treatment
Canine influenza is a virus that causes fever and respiratory disease. It is spread from infected dogs via aerosol droplets but is not generally transmissible to humans. It is a non-core vaccine and should only be administered to dogs at risk, including those dogs who regularly frequent dog parks, groomers, boarding facilities, shelters, or shows. Two initial doses should be given, 3-5 weeks apart, starting 7 weeks of age. Booster annually thereafter.

These are viral diseases of dogs that can cause serious illness, including death, and are easily transmissible. Transmission can occur from dog to dog contact, or from exposure via an infected environment. This is considered a core vaccine, and all dogs should be kept current on this vaccine.
Feline Retro Virus Treatment
Feline Leukemia Virus and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus testing can be done at any age and is highly recommended, particularly when introducing a new cat into a multi-cat household. If a positive FIV test occurs in a kitten under 6 months old, the test should be repeated at 6 months of age. For this reason, many people choose to test for FeLV only in kittens younger than 6 months.

Heartworm larvae are transmitted by mosquitoes and eventually develop into adults worms in the heart and pulmonary vessels of the dog. They cause an insidious disease process of heart failure and can ultimately be life-threatening. There is no direct transmission from one dog to another. Test dog prior to starting preventative if older than 8 months of age. Test annually thereafter. Start puppies at 6 weeks of age and administer preventative medication once monthly all year long, for life.
Kidney Disease Treatment
This is a bacterial disease that can cause kidney failure and is transmissible to humans. Risk of exposure is higher in dogs that are active outdoors. Transmission can occur via water and urine. It is considered a core vaccine and most dogs should be kept current.

FOR ALL ANIMALS: I hereby request Animal Spay & Neuter to surgically sterilize my animal. I have had the opportunity to ask questions regarding the surgery and the risks involved. I understand that there is a risk in any surgery, that no pre-op blood work is offered and that the surgery is performed with a general anesthetic. Not withstanding the risk, I request the surgery.
