The Phoenix and the Dragon is an oasis in the desert. That’s what my friends and I say about the store to each other. . People feel good, and even abundant as they walk into the “Phoenix.” Soft music provides a background of harmony and relaxation. It’s a magical place of beautiful stones, lovely clothes, home objects and books. It’s a place that would feel welcoming to your grandmother or your child. A place where one can take their time and browse among all the treasures. I often recommend the “Phoenix” to people who are pursuing a book about the Kabala, the Course of Miracles or anything of a spiritual nature. Going to the Phoenix can save person years of reading time because the book buyer knows her stuff. The store offers a nice range of high quality programs both free and for a fee. There are comfortable places to sit, browse and even an outdoor patio and art gallery. Staff is friendly and always willing to help. The store is very convenient across from a super target and many restaurants. There is plenty of parking. I have been coming to the Phoenix and Dragon for over ten years. I used to live ten miles away from the store, but periodically I would make sure I visited the store. I always left feeling happy. I think, it’s a truly welcoming center for the whole community. Charis is an atlanta institution- the best selection of feminist, progressive, lgbtq books in the area-what Outwrite is for men, Charis is for women. Plus they sponsor amazing events, speakers, workshops, and writing groups. The staff are helpful and smart and the community bulletin board has lots of good local contacts. Highly recommended.
Great independent book store. I love the old school book store feel and smell. The staff is helpful and it is easy to browse around and get lost in the books.
Not many big box book stores left in town. Glad that Barnes and Nobles can still provide a great place to browse for books and have a cup of coffee,
Nice selection of best sellers and children's books. I appreciate the helpful customer service. Expanded cafe menu makes lunch possible.
Very nice selection of books. If they don't have they will be glad to order it. The staff is nice and usually very accommodating.
I agree this B&N is calmer than some and well managed.
