Recently, we had an event with 14 of us traveling to Atlanta. We made reservations as recommended weeks before arriving for the The Dove Awards. The manager immediately opened the door for us all upon arrival. We felt welcomed. Our water glasses were filled and we received menus. We waited for 25+ minutes to get our orders taken. We had to go to the bar to get any other kind of beverage. One of our guests asked for Iced Tea.... our waiter suggested to go across the street to Mary Mac's Tea Room for her tea. The entree's came out slowly 1 and 2 at a time. After another 15 minutes our waiter came to see if we go our orders while he was on smoke break (my husband found him outside)...we still had two orders not received. The bartender asked for extra tips for making our drinks. The food was ""OK"".... Shrimp pasta was tasty, pork tenderloin moist.... other than those two entrees nothing to write home about. The music was so loud we couldn't hear each other without raising our voices. After speaking with the manager he said he would talk about later with them. Sadly, our last meal in town for a celebration was not worth the money nor time. The area holds many great restaurants.... enjoy THEM!

Guess I can't get over the poor service by the wait staff. My husband and I had to ask for everything...even a dessert menu. I was going to get a glass of wine with dinner but our server was nowhere to be found. The food was good but not good enough to justify being treated with indifference.
I began to wonder if maybe we weren't trendy enough to fit with this establishment's own view of itself.
We are excellent tippers...usually more than 20%. We could barely muster up 15% for the disappointing evening.

If you're looking for a week-night dinner destination, I would definitely recommend Top Flr, especially if you're looking for something different. The food is nothing special, but the wine list is appealing. And more than anything, the waitstaff is incredible. They are masters of knowing when you need something and knowing when you prefer to be left alone. Service is so important in the entire restaurant experience, and this place really respects the art of delivering quality service.

I'd heard both good and bad things about this place but I thought I'd go anyway and see how I would feel about it. I'm glad I did b/c not only was the food incredible, but so was the service and general ambiance - they have a lot of natural light w/ the big windows and the decor is chic & simple, making the relatively small space feel a lot biger than it really is. I had the gnocchi and my friend had a salmon dish - both of which were delicious! Plus everything was super affordable. I would definitely go back.
This place, as another critic spoke of, is so pretentious! The staff themselves think they are in some sort of swank NYC elite club. The food is mediocre, nothing to proverbially write home about. I would never go back to the place ever, especially with it's À la carte menu! You would be better off going to Whole Foods, about a mile away, than to spend your hard earned dollar here.
I am African American my wife is caucasion, we stepped into the door of the establishment, with an actual 9pm reservation. Then another couple, about 3 minutes later walked in, also a man that was solo. The host finally came, passed by us and went for the other couple, asking them how many were in their party! Then asked the other gentleman how many was in his party! Finally asked us [last]. We will NEVER go back to the place again! It is an overpriced, bigoted, highfalutin, ostentatious, pompous piece of c***!

Does the phrase ""pretentiously unpretentious"" mean anything to you?
Don't let the prices on the menu or the barebones, midrange appearance fool you: This place is a-la-carte, and it adds up incredibly quickly. When people here say ""inexpensive,"" they must not be comparing it to other restaurants with plastic chairs.
The food is reasonably good but unexceptional.
Basically, if you want to spend money pretending to be a hipster bohemian, sitting in a faux-retro chair in a drafty attic, go here. If you value your cash -- or authenticity -- avoid it.
Top Flr has quickly become one of our favorite ""go-to"" restaurants. It is great food and wine with reasonable prices. For first-timers, I definitely recommend the hummus appetizer. I also highly recommend the grilled asparagus and tomatoes. And finally, for dessert, the chocolate truffle cake is fabulous! Not only do we enjoy the food and drinks, but the service has always been great for us!
I went to dinner with 3 other friends on a saturday night and we all loved Top Flr! We had a reservation for 10pm but decided to walk in at 9.15. We were seating within about 20 minutes. It was a touch drafty where we were seated but that was a minor let down. We liked most of what we ordered...lamb skewers, oysters, mac and cheese, potatoes, duck pasta and crab lobster, hanger steak. I tried a bit of everyones food and was generally impressed. I loved the crab lobster. I have a delightfully brooding class of Rioja! I def recommend this place to hang out with friends for a for a hot date! Oh, and our waiter was ever so friendly and efficienct!

My husband and I recently took our took our foster child (an African-American teenager) out for special holiday treat which included dinner and a show at the Alliance. Our foster-daughter is seventeen, and as smart and sweet as she is mature. The show started at seven, so we had to eat at the obviously uncool time of 5:15 PM. The server who was up for the next table took one look at us, and within earshot, passed us on to the next server. Maybe I'm over-sensitive, but I felt that assumptions were being made about us. The server who was stuck with us was actually extremely cordial and attentive. The food was okay--some tasty dishes, but overall way overpriced.

Bartender: rude rude rude. Beer list: only eight you've never heard of and it turns out it's for good reason. Stairway: sticky and gross. Appetizers: 1/3 ""unavailable"" because of a busy weekend (it was Tuesday). Ordered five varieties and every single one was unremarkable. Waiter: Totally incompetent. Service: Empty appetizer plates sat in our face even after the food arrived. Main Course: Small with no sides. Again, unremarkable (four different dishes). Dessert: Out. AGAIN! No warning. No offer for dessert drinks. Our ""sharp"" waiter suggested Krispy Kreme across the street (I swear). All seven of us agreed it was the worst high-end dining experience we could remember (and we are an easy crowd). I just wish I didn't have a client with me, because we felt like idiots for suggesting the place. Being unique and expensive doesn't have to mean being rude and inattentive.

I met 2 girlfriends for dinner and drinks at this place and I am looking forward to our next date!
We started with the hummus and flat bread with a glass of wine. The wine was so great I (and the girls) had two more glasses one with dinner and one after. Dinner was a reccomendation by our bartender (who was such a cutie) I think his name is Adam? I wanted the mac n cheese and he said go for the pork. I did and OH was it great! Tender and flavorful, not overwhelming and the wine went so well with the dinner.
We sat at the bar and had our drinks and meal there. The music was great and the scene was fresh, and modern and fun. Like I said I really enjoyed my night out with the girls and definately am looking forward to our next date!

I absolutely love this restaurant! The food is amazing and very reasonably priced. The staff is great and friendly. The cocktails are incredible! I especially love their new old fashion-inspired cocktail menu (where else in the city can you order a Pimm's Cup?). Unlike a lot of other places in Atlanta, TOP FLR isn't a ""scene,"" thank god. I currently live in Midtown, but am moving to another party of the city; TOP FLR is what I'm going to miss most about the neighborhood. I cannot say enough good things about this place; love the decor, love the food, love the staff, love everything!

I've only been here once but I have friends who have been other times. It's a great dining experience. Our waiter was sociable and knowledgeable about the food. The portions were actually a reasonable size for a change! No need for doggie bags or feeling over full! I had the salmon with a side of roasted vegetables and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere was nice (although some of the music selections were a little to loud/experimental rock oriented). We sat down at 11pm and took about 2 hours to eat (the waiters weren't in a rush but neither were we). It's hard to find good restaurants open late!

Food is pretty good and rather reasonably priced. My favorite part of this place is the wine list, which boasts some great wines and they are not marked up and arm and a leg. Seriously, it might be the best place I have been to in Atlanta when it comes down to what you get for your money (wine wise that is). There are some problems, like the fact that I felt that I had three other tables on top of me as I tried to eat. Intimate is nice, but this got to be a bit tiresome after an evening. Will go back now as they opened the first floor. Hopefully that improves the seating situation.

I went to this restauant recently...and it was awesome! The atmosphere, the amniance, the sewrvice, and the food were out of this world! It is a very hip and trendy place. A great place for a date, meeting up with friends for drinks, or even meeting other trendy singles. I definitly reccommend this place to anyone who hasn't been yet. Oh, and the prices are very reasonable!

Excellent food and good selection for a full menu (fried tofu for vegetarians). Also good drink selection and service. Reservations are a good idea and the location near Piedmont Park is convenient. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant add to the ambience. The service was great as well. i highly recommend.

My wife and I recently made the transition from Los Angeles to Atlanta. Our first two nights, before moving into our new place (as fate would have it, down the street from Top Floor), were spent in a nearby midtown hotel. Our second night, after much needed rest, was to be an ""out on the town night/exploration "" of the area. The hotel concierge (a really cool, gracious and down to earth young woman) insisted on Top Floor. The food was VERY good (my wife used, ""Rocked""). The ambiance reminded my wife IMMEDIATELY of places she use to frequent in NYC... I shared the same sentiment, but from a different coastal perspective. It reminded me of old haunts in West Los Angeles and parts of Hollywood. Our waiter, Patrick, ""connected"" with us immediately.. with a perfect blend of charm (the non-smarmy kind ) and a refreshing sharp wit. As we were getting ready to leave he leaned quickly over our table, shook our hands, and said, ""Chaos.. controlled at its finest. Thank you guys. We will see you again."" That was our second night in town and that sealed it for us. Food (10) Service (10) Ambiance (10).
Can't wait to come back
