Reform Congreation Founded In 1867! Atlanta's History Here!

The Temple on Peachtree, is one of the oldest Reform Congreation's in the country. It was founded in 1867, mainly by German Immigrants, after the Civil War. Many of us native Atlantan's families, like mine, grew up with this congreation. With everyone moving back into the city, The Temple's Hebrew School in now thriving, more than ever. In 1959, the Temple was bombed, as a result of some of the members, going to Mississippi, to help African-Americans to register to vote. The Temple has always reached out to the total Atlanta Community, and currently operates the Zaban Night Shelter, for the homeless. And recently, the Selig building on the campus, is the new home of AID Atlanta. I'm more than proud to be a child of The Temple! Update-2/09/07--Attended funeral for Natalie Cohen, today, and met the new associate Rabbi, Rabbi Reeves. Great addition to the community!
