This is an update on a review that might still be out there somewhere. I used to LOVE Shorty's and would tell everyone I saw to check it out. But now it has new owners and it's just not the same. Some things are still great - like the rocket salad and quacamole. But the signature pizza pies just seem to be missing something. I don't know if they cut the quality on the ingredients but I've given them at least 3 tries to get it right and might have to give up. I wish them the best and hope they figure it out but definitely miss the vibe and taste of the old Shorty's I knew and loved.

Ok - I am a huge fan and food addict. This place rocks. The pizza's are art and the menu items are insanely good.
I would suggest any new menu item or what the staff suggests. Try something new - you will be happy.
These guys also have a small yet smart beer selection. They also know how to pour a real drink.
Cookies - plan ahead and get dessert. So don't over eat plan before you order for something after your main meal. Key lime pie - is something that brings tears to my eyes of joy.
Go Go Go Go now - and eat something - you are getting skinny

So Shorty's managed to squeeze in a whole lot of talent into a tiny spot off north druid and people found out. First time we visited food and service rocked, we loved it and swore we would be back. Second time we were sat outside in their little patio area and literally sat for 20 min. I asked a server if we could get some menus and drinks and she told me she I was not my server. I explained the situation and she said she would go in and find out who are server was supposed to be. She came back out PISSED and asked if we were ready to order. Food was dropped off without comment, drinks were never refilled. I had to go in after the meal to track down our check. Bad bad. A few months later we try again and things were only slightly better. We waited around 15 min. (again we had to go outside b/c of the crowd) but this time the girl was nice about it and we understood she was hustling. Thing is we saw two tables be sat and later leave because of no service. One incident turned awkward because the server ran after two women and stopped them in the patio area and said ""hey wait y'all had drinks"" the ladies said "" a twenty is on the table we waited for a half hour and never saw you."" So I think Shorty's is simply a victim of its own success. We will go to Shorty's for lunch or early in the week dinners out because the food is really really good....but never again if they are crowded.

My experiences at Shorty's have been nothing short of excellent! They have every kind of topping in the world and combinations that only a true pizza connoisseur could concoct! The best part about the menu is the variety of well-prepared food. The melts are delicious, as well as the salads. And definitely don't forget to order one of their giant chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Aside from the well-executed menu, the service is always outstanding and attentive (I don't know what the CS contributor was thinking when he wrote about that). I must also mention that I was impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant as well. I would recommend Shorty's to anyone!

Shorty's is a casual, friendly spot where you get to have a side of rock star with your pizza--all the signature pies are named after musicians.
They specialize in thin crust, wood-fired goodness. You can choose one of their signature pies or design your own. The thing I like best about Shorty's is the unlimited combinations of fresh & unusual ingredients--carmelized onions, pesto, toasted walnuts, gorgonzola, etc. I'll be honest - I don't love pizza as much as everyone else seems to, so I appreciate being able to create my own weird combination on a personal sized pizza and let everyone else feast on the more conventional versions. They even offer a cheeseless pizza (the Ravi Shankar) and a few versions of white pies (like the Declan McManus--my favorite).
If you aren't in the mood for pizza at all, no worries. They also have a terrific assortment of salads & several sandwiches & entrees. Draft beer selection is small, but well chosen, and they rotate seasonally. And the guacamole is made to order. Good stuff.

My husband and I are addicted to this wonderful place. Being real food snobs (we'll fly to the West Coast to get good ""slow food), we have our favorite menu items, and always try to save room for the dessert pizza with freshly sliced applies and real homemade whipped cream. The secret to the great guacamole is that they make each serving individually....we like to sit at the bar and watch the guy make it, full of avacado chunks with the wonderful flat bread drizzled with EV olive oil! And the crabcakes are perfect! I have my favorite East Coast crabcake source (Legal Seafoods), and Shorty's cakes are just as good or better. Not too much breading, and of course you never have to ask the waitress to bring a lemon slice. (We're amazed at how many restaurants in Atlanta don't serve a lemon slice with seafood!)There's so much talk about Shorty's pizza (truly great, of course), but don't ignore the entrees like the cedar planked salmon. And we have never found any brown lettuce edges in Shorty's generous salads. Only the best and freshest ingredients is what puts Shorty's at the top of our list.

My mom was in town from MA and I brought her here for lunch one day and she said it was some of the best pizza she's ever had - now that's a rave review. The quality of the ingredients comes through in the richness of the final product, absolutely delicious. They have a bunch of house pizzas to choose from with fun names - i get the woo tang (on the back of the bar menu) buffalo chicken with blue cheese crumbles and celery - must try!

Yes we are pizza snobs. And we have it down to about six places we live by, eating that is. Last month, we finally discovered Chicago Nancy's, after reading glowing reviews on CitySearch. And yes, they have the best deep-dish Chicago pies in the ATL. But our latest find, Shorty's, is now on our list. And usually, if they don't deliver, we don't bother. But this one is well worth our drive, from our South Buckhead home. It's in the Toco Hill's area, near another favorite, Bagel Palace. Shorty's has the goods on wood-fired pizza's. The crusts are perfect, and the toppings, are just that, the tops. Our favorite is the caramelize onions, artichoke's, and homemade Italian sausage. Oh goodness. A greater started is the chunky guacamole on housemade flatbread. And all the salads are terrific also, with the house Italian dressing. Service is right on, and we don't mind this drive for a great pizza/

Most people say the pizza is the star here, and it is some of the best pizza I've had in Atlanta. However, my main reason to continue coming back are the high quality salads and the mouthwatering key lime pie. It's delicious! Really, all the food served here is very good, the best quality, and delicious. You'll be hard-pressed to need a to-go box here...! The service is very friendly and helpful without being overbearing. If you're looking for a casual place to meet up, this is definitely a great place to do so for any age group!

Shorty's is exactly what local, neighborhood places should strive to be - not too fancy, good food, and excellent service. We always like to sit out front on the sidewalk/patio. Even though your only view is the parking lot, it's a lot quieter out front. The service has always been great here. Everyone is really friendly. Last, but not least, the food has been stellar every time. Shorty's has the best Ceasar salad around. Every pizza I've tried, from custom toppings to the Jimmy Buffet (cheeseburger, with pickles on top) has been awesome. The crusts are thin and crispy and the toppings are fresh. Overall, a great place to have a beer and a pizza with friends or family.

This casual unpretentious fine food cafe & bar tucked behind the Longhorn is one
great FIND! It's somewhat small, but a big time can be had thanks to the friendly casual energetic staff. Enjoy Excellent Wood Fired Pizzas with fresh unique toppings, made Fresh to order Guacamole, Salads, Antipasto and Apps even including Fresh Lump Crabmeat and the Fresh tasty Entrees. Fresh & Tasty, get it? Numerous Beer and Wine choices from the world are also offered. Relax on the petite patio, choose the inside cafe tables or mix at the bar. . . . Seems like to be a real & successful business model to me. In fact I'm ending this right now and heading to Shorty's. Most likely I might even meet a new friend there. By the way, you couldn't phone order a pizza to go any night twenty years ago at Spago either.

The first bite of Shorty's pizza made me never want to come back because I thought that I would never get it as good as it was. I was wrong. And boy was I wrong! I am addicted! I thought I had found the best pizza elsewhere but no, it's here. And the salads- fresh, inventive ingredients. The service is very attentive (and good looking too!) I want to go every day now- but fear they might think I am stalking the restaurant! I have had the good fortune of knowing the best restaurants in many cities, and I would recommend this one to anybody. I hope lots of people eat here and are as impressed as I am.

I must have driven past this place for months - thinking it was ""just another pizza joint"". I was SO WRONG. the staff are friendly and attentive, the food is perfectly priced and porportioned. REALLY inventive, yet somehow - classic, stuff: cold spaghetti squash salad with a tangy lemon dressing on rocket with walnuts? SO REFRESHING on a hot day. The pizzas are great, and you gotta save room for fresh baked choc-chip cookies - crispy on the outside; gooey in the middle with fresh whipped cream! Can't wait to be a ""regular"".

After reading a review posted on city search about shorty's I was very skeptical about trying it out. I was however, treated to a surprise by an evening of very good food and exceptional service. Sallie was my table's waitress. She was very prompt, attentive, and witty. Have you heard about the guacamole at shorty's. By all accounts, the best I've had in the city. For dinner I wanted to order the Tina Turner, but I was talked into an old favorite, the Chrissy Hynde. The crust was perfectly crisp and the white pizza contained roasted red peppers, garlic, roasted onions, eggplant and ricotta cheese. Ask for it because it has been taken off the menu. Overall, a great time, great food, and great service.
