Went to Pozole's on a Sunday night at 9:30p. I have an ADA protected disability and use a qualified service dog with proper display (service vest and leashed) with excellent behavior. I was told I could not bring the service dog into the restaraunt. I explained that she was a service dog and not a pet. I was told she was not welcomed. I explained that she was a qualitfied service dog and they couldn't dicriminate against me. To top it off, he asked if I was training or was she actually doing something for me. I told him yes, she was my dog. It was incredibly humiliating and the first time in 2 yrs of living in Atl that I was embarrased and made to feel like an outsider. I should have left but really wanted to try the food. The server (same guy who told me I wasnt welcomed with my service dog) apologized and said he had never actually had a service dog in the restaraunt before. Unbelievable. Really? In a city as big and diverse as Atl. But it didnt seem to end there. I am hearing impaired. He would walk up behind me and speak to me and make it virtually impossible to read his lips or understand what he was saying. I dont know if this was intentional or not but once again, I felt like he was trying to make me as uncomfortable as possible. It worked. Won't go back. I wonder if he would treat someone in a wheelchair or who was blind the same way. Would expect more from a ""friendly"" neighborhood restaraunt. Food and margarita was good but I hope you'll conside the way this restaraunt treats people with disabilities. Shameful.
The thing that keeps bringing me back to Pozole is the margaritas. A wide and creative selection includes Pomegranate and Raspberry but I stick with the tried and true house margarita. The guacamole is excellent, the tacos are good if a bit pricey and the atmosphere is cozy, crowded and can get a bit loud but always a fun time. The outside seating is great in the spring and fall but the summer heat can be a bit overbearing inside and out so go early before the summer crowds crank up the heat. I highly recommend Pozole for a change of pace in Virginia Highland.

I went to this place today and It was pretty good. I had the (not so)Spicy Guacamole, which was creamy and chunky with some diced raw jalapenos in it. My entree was with 2 Tilapia tacos & a chicken taco. They had a nice light flavor, the salsa that came with it added more umph, the rice and beans were well cooked and not overly seasoned. The service was pretty fast even though the lady serving me wasnt in a dull mood.

Yes, the tables are lined with brown packing paper.
Yes, there's an ATM within 6"" of the door.
Yes, the place isn't much to look at, and gives off a 'neighborhood bar' feel more than that of a gourmet restaurant.
However, before turning away in disgust for a swankier place, actually sit down and have a taco before you change your mind. Besides, where else are you going to get tacos anywhere near this quality at 2am on a weekday? Besides, it took you this long to find a parking spot anyway.
This was the first time I ever liked the food so much I requested seconds of something. The chicken tacos were definitely my favorite for the night. The prices are very reasonable, even on the late night menu (Which is offered from 11pm to 2:30am). Thursdays, however, can save you a fortune! They do HALF OFF their late night menu on Thursdays. We had five tacos between two people, queso dip, and two sodas, and our bill was only $15, and registered as a $10.50 savings. Wow! I am definitely going to put my annoyance with the loud drunk wench at the bar aside and try this place again sometime, perhaps when they're offering the full menu during the day, or during their Lunch weekend specials from 1pm.

We went here on Friday night and showed up close to 10 pm. The place was packed and we put our name on the list and sat at the bar. Wait was short and they even found us a great table on the patio which is great b/c it was incredibly hot and loud inside. Drinks were ok, maybe a little watered down....but the chicken nachos were pretty awesome and the empanadas were good too. Our server was super nice and very good at her job. The biggest con was the music. Really cheesy 80's music that isn't really what I'd expect for a young, hip weekend crowd. Still, I can't wait to go back to try more off their menu.

I went to Pozole for the first time tonight and HAD to write a review. I was there for a birthday party for my girlfriend and had really never heard of the place. After accomplishing the arduous task of parking, I was a little bummed, no lie, but after settling in and having the most fabulous pomegranite margarita, I was set at ease. Their margaritas are served on shaved ice and are awesome!! Our server was a red head and she was personable and kind, half the experience. I had the lobster tacos, which are probably the most expensive thing on the menu ($23?), but you get 2 lobster tails for that price along with sides and what-not and that ain't too shabby. They are UNBELIEVABLE. If you have not tried them, do. You deserve it. All in all, we felt so welcome and happy, I can't wait to go back. It is ideal for a birthday party, girls night out. Very, very awesome!

This is my NEW favorite taco joint. the tequilla list is out of control and they are great with the recommendations. Try the lobster tacos, they are tooooooo good. Oh and there's a deal on al la carte lobster tacos that's way worth it.
Oh, but if it's a group of two try and show up a little early cause it gets pretty packed around 7ish I've noticed.

Pazole is our favorite restaurant in VaHi. It is definitely the best mexican in the neighborhood - always fresh and flavorful- and we love that they frequently run specials and change the menu. It seems like there is always something new and exciting to try. Their margaritas are awesome (jalepeno is my fave), and they have so many different tequilas. Early in the evening they are very family friendly - even providing coloring pages and crayons for the kids. Later, the atmosphere takes on a much more adult feel. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the prices are reasonable. With or without our kids in tow, we love it!

The thing we like most about Pozole is the outstanding service! The hostess, bar staff, wait staff and management are consistently friendly, courteous, and attentive. The staff always has a positive demeanor, and treats patrons as guests. We are regular visitors, and while we enjoy the food and margaritas, the service is what really keeps us coming back.
The early evening crowd consists of families, transitioning to a younger social set later in the evening (drawn in by the variety of tequilas and friendly, casual atmosphere no doubt). The food is excellent, and reasonably priced. We usually start with the chips and flavorful variety of salsas. They often have specials for starters and main course that are also full of flavor. Our favorites from the regular menu are the tacos (beef or pork), pork quesadillas, and green mole enchiladas.
If you're a visitor to Virginia Highlands, include this restaurant/tequila bar on your rotation - I highly recommend it!
I can simply say that I have found the best margarita in Atlanta! I had the jalapeno margarita the other night, and it suprised me that it wasn't spicy, but instead brought a fantastic new attribute to the margarita! Cozy spot, friendly servers, and great food. I recommend it!!!!!

So, while perusing around the Highlands last week my sweet B and I saw the cutest board outside listing phenomenally cheep drinks. We decided to take a closer look, and we were baffled to see that they were offering 5 of their margaritas for almost half of what they usually charge. As if that wasn't sweet enough, they also do half off their late night menus( starts at 11 p.m.). The late night menu consists of tacos and your usual dips of sorts (go for the queso and guac combo muy bueno). Because the drinks were so reasonably priced I got to try 3. I suggest the Pomegranate and the jalapeno. Jalapeno sounds weird but really it just blends perfectly with their mix. The B was jonesin on the perfect. The service was great and knowlegeble, offering a short education into the vast tequila list. All in all a great Thursday night! WIll be back next week!

Just found this place while out walking in the Highlands. It may be my new favorite ATL taqueria. I tried the special Shrimp Tacos which were absolutely delicious and perfectly complimented by my awesome ""Perfect"" margarita which was on special too! (Thursday special I think) Can't wait to go back soon and try some more great food and drinks!!

I recently dined at Pozole for about the fifth time, and thoroughly enjoyed it! I think that the atmosphere allows me to enjoy myself as well as my friends. Being a casual place, it is amazing that the service is so above average! You can tell that the servers are happy to be there, and pleased to serve. The bartenders are fantastic about expressing their knowledge on tequila. That helps out alot with the unexperienced tequila fan such as myself. The food is special too. I loved the Lobster tacos! It is, and always has been a wonderful all around experience for myself and my wife. I'll be back many times...OH, and I also love the ""Movie and Margarita"" night on Wednesdays!!
