General Info
Carrabba's Italian Grill was founded in Houston by Johnny Carrabba and Damian Mandola in December 1986. Both men have extensive restaurant experience and belong to one of Houston's most successful restaurant families. Many of the recipes on the restaurant s menu are those of Mandola s mother and sister. Mandola has preserved the Italian authenticity of Carrabba's food by traveling the world in search of unique Italian dishes and by taking numerous trips to his grandparents' native Italy. After many travels to the Houston area, Carrabba's caught the attention of Aussie-themed Outback Steakhouse owners. A joint venture partnership was formed in January 1993. Under the joint partnership, more than 10 more locations were opened in Houston and in Florida. In January 1995, Outback acquired the rights to develop Carrabba's nationwide. There are now more than 200 Carrabba's Italian Grill locations throughout the United States. The restaurant s menu includes a variety of items, such as appetizers, soups and salads, grilled dishes, pasta specialties, Italian classic dishes, wood-fired pizza and Italian desserts. Carrabba's Italian Grill maintains a location in Atlanta.

My family's experience when we eat in the restaurant has always been positive. The servers are attentive and the food is great. The problem is that due to our hectic schedules we eat at the restaurant maybe 10% of the time. We use Carrabba's take out service 90% of the time. Unfortunately, their take out service is horrible and, for some reason, I haven't learned my lesson after Carrabba's has screwed up on several different occasions. Maybe I subconsciously enjoy the suffering? Their take out service is well-known for completely forgetting parts of the order. I'm not talking about something simple like an extra side of cheese or the bread. Whole meals have been forgotten (they forgot my Chicken Bryan one time). Management has always been accommodating when I've called them after I've arrived home and realized parts of my meal were missing. But there's only so many times their take out people can forget to include desserts, meals, side dishes or the marsala sauce on the Sirloin Marsala (true story!) before you give up on the restaurant all together. I finally started checking my order while I was at the restaurant to make sure it's all there (they get it right maybe 50% of the time). I sent my husband to pick up the food today. Big mistake. He didn't check and we discovered after we got home that a salad wasn't put in our bag. To top it off, the mussels in my Linguine Pescatore were far from fresh. In fact, they were completely inedible. I'm coming back but that's only because the manager promised me a free meal the next time I come in. Hopefully the take out people don't forget to put it in the bag.....

family or fun

A pleasant surprise is fast italian. Relaxing atmosphere, great food, good selection. Just as easy to bring your sweetie or your whole family...believe me we've seen the whole family arrive!

Stick to chicken & fish

Mussel appetizer - delicious. They are very generous with their yummy bread. The bread and mussel sauce is a meal itself.

Pollo Maria - best dish on the menu. Their fish specials are also well. Their steak (some sirloin cut) is dreadful. AVOID.

Pastas are a mixed bag. Alfredo sauces are much better than the red sauces.

Bottom line: stick to meats that they grill, and you'll do great.

They also could do to improve the ambiance a bit. I feel like I am sitting in an upscale Shoney's...

I don't know why these chains get a bad rap all the time, but there is no way on earth you can find a better marsaela sauce in the country. I don't know what they do to make their chicken so damn tender and juicy but the Chicken Marsaela makes my top 10 list.

As my grandkids say, Carabba's is TO DIE FOR! How can anything be better than their pasta Ousie? I always eat at Carabba's in any city they have a restauratn in. I can hardly wait for one in MY area!

Best Chain Italian I've ever had!!!

Carrabba's is a GREAT restaurant that is very poorly represented in Atlanta. I've never had a bad experience with either the food or the service, and I've been there A LOT!!! Definitely try the Pollo Rosa Maria
