I am really disappointed with ...

They are some good Chinese food. However they don't really offer the best authentic Chinese food in Atlanta.

The food in this place is so bad that the words that come to mind I can't even say, every aspect of the place is horrible, how this place stays in business is beyond me, the food actually made me sick when I left & had to throw it up, man oh man stay away big time..

Stay away from this place like the plague, the food is nothing than fast food frozen, the peking duck is so bad that I can't find a comment to even desrcribe it, the lighting in the place is so bright that it's blinding, I'm not even that picky of a person when it comes to food, but the service, all I can say is what service, whatever you do stay away from this place it's that bad

Best Chinese Restaurant Ever!

One of the best chinese food restaurant ever! Constantly received Zagat's awards, almost always crowded, even at midnight! Salt & pepper squid, steamed fish, fried crispy pork chop, fried chicken, just to name a few. Their sambal belacan is second to none! How I missed Canton Cooks' foods..

Best Chinese Outside of Bufurd Highway

Want really good Chinese food but don't feel like going all the way to Buford Highway? Then look no further than Canton Cooks.

I'm a big fan of authentic Chinese food (I lived in Shanghai for two months, so consider myself reasonably knowledgeable about what really is authentic). As such I'm used to labeling any restaurant where the Asian customers don't outnumber everyone else as ""fake"" Chinese food. That's not the case here (although the Asian customer do usually make up almost half of the patrons). Canton Cooks sports a huge menu of exceptional, authentic dishes, including the best seafood selection I've seen in a Chinese restaurant in Atlanta. The menu never misses a beat on anything from the dumplings (possibly the best I have ever had, and Shanghai is famous for its dumplings), to the beef stew (it's nothing like your Mom's, unless you happen to be Chinese and your Mom is an awesome cook), to the fish balls and bean thread noodle hotpot (that's balls made from minced fish- get your mind out of the gutter!).

The quality of the food being established, I will say that you pay for the location (as well as the quality). Expect to pay 25-30% more than you would on Buford Highway, and even around 10% more than most Chinese restaurants in Sandy Springs. Also, if you're going during rush hour (7-9 PM), expect to wait a little while, especially if it's Friday or Saturday. Generally it won't be more than 5-10 minutes, but on a really busy night 20 minutes isn't out of the question (although it certainly isn't the norm). Another nice feature if you occasionally get a late night hankering for some eggplant and bean curd stuffed with minced shrimp or salt and pepper squid like I do, Canton Cooks is open until 2 AM, and you won't be the only person there at that hour.

Best Chinese Food In Atlanta

I've been to just about every Chinese food place in Atlanta (I'm a lifer and chinese is my food of choice) and Canton Cooks has by the best food of them all. The inside isn't all that great, but the food is just so fresh and delicious, I highly recommend the Bak Choy (spelling?), and the Orange Chicken. Both are out of this world great. Not the cheapest place ever but fairly priced considering each meal is enough to feed 2. Oh and if you aren't that hungry the soups are out of this world.

Good Food Bad Service Difficult handicap access

I have been dining there for many years because the food is authentic. There is no greeter with a smile. I have tolerated the wait staff that does not smile or ask if you need anything else because I like the food. Recently I took my disabled mother (in a wheel chair) because she wanted to eat Chinese food. There is not a curb cut in front of the restaurant so you have to go to the far end just to access the sidewalk. As I struggled to open the doors and keep hold of the wheelchair no one helped.
I struggled with it on the carpet to the table. We had the usual drop the food and run service. As we were leaving no one helped with the doors to leave. It's is sad that they don't understand how important small kindnesses and a smile are.

Flavorful Chinese cuisines

I have always loved Asian cuisine. The Canton Cooks restaurant made it possible to have a taste of China near us. The food was superb. The only drawback would be the type of service. The staff was not at all accommodating. Overall, we loved the food but definitely not the service.
