My experience is a little old--it occurred July 4, 2001. Turth in advertising requires me to say I was born in St. Joseph's over 70 years ago, but have not lived in Atlanta since 1970. I was visiting to attend a wedding and staying with friends. I was supposed to go to the Rehearsal Dinner, but was feeling ill, so I declined hoping to attend the wedding on Saturday. The friends with whom I was staying had dinner plans. BTW, I should be considered a knowledgeable layman, having worked in healthcare administration for decades. Four years prior to this, I had had an angioplasty so I was conscious of potential heart problems. When my friends arrived I told my host that it would probably be wise to go to an Emergency Room for a blood test to see if I was having heart problems. I was vaguely surprised when he suggested St. Josephs. Predictably, the ER was a zoo on a holiday weekend. Eventually blood was drawn and my host proved to be the really good friend and stayed with me. The staff put me into one of the ER cubicles while we waited. Eventually the ER physician came in about 3 a.m. and told me that the blood tests had proven negative for the enzymes indicative of a heart attack. However, he encouraged me to stay in the hospital for an angiogram the next morning. I decided that I must be having some type of flu, and declined. But my friend supported the idea--I must have looked really bad. Reluctantly, I agreed. Angiogram results: The good news: No heart attack. The bad news: Blood vessels in the heart, 85% occluded. Consulting with the cardiologist who recommended a CAB (a bypass). Having observed a number of those operations, I was less than enthused at the prospect plus I did not have medical insurance. I asked about another angioplasty. They advised against it saying in a relatively short period of time, the problem would recur. When I mentioned the lack of insurance, they said something "Let St. Josephs take care of you. Also, they said the CAB would be performed first thing Monday, which meant I would miss the wedding. I was also bummed because I had been exercising in an effort to not have heart problems. I decended into a combination "blue funk" and pity party--still resisting the idea of a CAB. As a result, things were kind of up in the air. One of the nurses, who deserves my everlasting thanks, came in and counselled me. By the time she left, I was more amenable. They sent in the heavy gun--the anesthesiologist. By the time he arrived, I had come to grips with it. Before he could open his mouth I said "Let's do this." I've gone into this detail so that readers will know that St. Josephs really does care and, take this from someone in a position to know, does a great job. I was pretty much of a deadbeat, and I received care worthy of a Chief of State. I would like to think that I was a knowledgeable patient--let the wounds drain and exercise as much as you can. In fact, I made them sit me up in the chair rather than the bed when they brought me to my room from Intensive Care. I felt compelled to write this when I read a couple of the reviews. There are two low ratings. One is the result of the doctor's orders, not the hospital. In fairness, staph can be very very difficult. The other low rating was because of a mixup about telephone numbers. I can see why that might be inconvenient for the person, but it hardly deserves a low rating. As far myself, I am seen by a Harvard-educated cardiologist at a tertiary medical center. However, he wants to see me only annually, and this is 11 years after my surgery, which also prevented a heart attack. The sites where the veins were removed from my legs were more problematic that the operation. Thank you, St. Joesphs. Thank you, ER. Thank you, cardiologist. Thank you, wonderful Nursing Staff. Thank you, Dr. Snyder and the surgical staff. I think Someon was really looking out for me when they caused be to be where I began life.
I have been going to Dr. Asaf for years and love him dearly. He is so easy to talk to. He has kept my medications at a level where I able to deal with life on Life's terms without freaking out. I am moving to Baton Rogue, LA this weekend and I will truly miss him. I have recently encountered my first problem with his office. My insurance now requires that all medications are RX Home Delivery. This program send you a three months supply for the cost of two months. If the prescriptions are not written just right, they will ship you a 30 supply for the same cost of a 90 day supply. I am relocating to another city due to unemployment and my disability due to a recent surgery. So needless to say I am watching my pennies very closely. His assistant that handles prescription refills, Christy, has corrected this problems for all my prescriptions but two. I have left Christy so many messages relating to this problem with two of my medications I have loss count. Christy has not corrected the problem with these medication nor taken the time to call me and explain why. I was also advise my AETNA RX Delivery that she has not responded to their calls either. I am now leaving town with a lot of anxiety, which is what Dr Asaf is treating me for, about my prescriptions. This shouldn't be happening but she has not returned my call or taken the time to correct this. She did tell one the receptionists that she called and left me message....WRONG!! I have checked my phone records with T-Mobile and she has never called my phone number.
I am actually very surprised there are not many more reviews for Dr. Aleem. All of his patients rave about him! He has been my psychiatrist for over 10 years now. I have seen many, many psychiatrists in my life-time but Dr. Aleem is THE BEST ONE. I cannot "rave" over him enough. Dr. Aleem's patients are his number one priority in his life. He is truly one-of-a-kind. He is caring, gentle, yet firm when it is necessary. He is so easy to talk to. And he is not the kind of doctor who has such a huge ego that he will not listen to anything of concern to his patients. I am the kind of patient who does my own research. I come to our appointments (every time) with a list of things I want to discuss. Often, it is about something I have researched and Dr. Aleem always has an open mind, will listen to what I have to say. He always answers my questions and concerns. With Dr. Aleem, I feel as if he and I are a team, working on my "mental health diagnoses and how they impact my life". A team with common goals. I always feel that it is very important for a patient to feel a part of their "treatment plan". Dr. Aleem never "talks down" to me, ever. He has quite an established patient practice. I would recommend him over all other psychiatrists I have seen! If you are thinking about going to see him, be sure you let him know exactly what you are looking for in a psychiatrist and that you want to be a part of your own "treatment team".
best doctor with the best staff. I learned in the ER on a Saturday afternoon I had a mass on my lung. I was beyond scared. I was referred to Dr. Moore's office from a friend. He said "he is the trusted him with his life." I called first thing Monday morning. Denette set me up an appointment with Dr. Moore that day! Denette was the first angel I met that day. She was very compassionate and knew how scared I was. During my appointment, Dr. Moore set me up with many test that week. I definitely felt like a top priority. He was the first doctor that was not just treating symptoms, but going to help me or as he said "fix me." The test showed I had a carcinoid tumor on my left lung and my left lower lung was damaged beyond repair from the infection. Next step was surgery. Dr. Moore removed the cancer, 19 lymph nodes, and my lower left lung. Within one month of my first appointment with Dr. Moore, he ran many test, performed surgery, I was in the hospital for 5 days, and home for one week with all of my test results. Dr. Moore allowed me to celebrate my daughter's first birthday without a heavy heart. I cannot say enough about Dr. Moore and his team. Denette and Crystal were so kind and helpful. I called them a lot: and they were always welcome to talk to me. The entire staff was compassionate and professional. I truly felt like they cared and they did! I cannot say enough. They are the best.
I was scared to death when I got to this Imaging Center. I was trying to find out if I had a bone infection which everyone seemed to think that I did. I hope that I am in the right place to write this review.The man and woman that was in Imaging set my self easy and helped me in so many ways.Their names, I know only by first names, Were Rodney and Katie. I have, a son and daughter named Rodney & Katie. I thought in my mind that this IS the right place, their names are like my children's and what a coincidence They took the best care of me, My waiting time was legitimate, right on the button.I have trouble with my back..Rodney helped fix my back so that it would not hurt me. The table was just like all tables, it was bad. All tables are bad all over the place but Rodney help me overcome the pain by helping me lie there with assistance of pillows and etc. He was the right man for the job. I enjoyed these two people very much.If you have to have something like this done, Don't hesitate. They are good people and will not just put you on the table and tell you to 'wait' until it's over. I am so glad that I had the pleasure of knowing these two kind souls. I will never be afraid of having this testing done again. I’ve been under the wonderful care of Dr. Kristy Francavilla and Dr. Shoshana Kreinces for more than 10 years. I originally sought their care for severe migraines and scoliosis. Due to regular adjustments, the migraines disappeared in a matter of weeks and did not return. I’ve also seen a decrease in the severity of my scoliosis and most of the pain from my scoliosis is gone. Dr. Kristy and Dr. Shoshana are committed to their patients’ health. They often take extra time with me to discuss my health questions and concerns. They are caring and supportive. I’ve recommended them to many friends and colleagues struggling with a variety of health issues because it is clear that if someone is experiencing pain, it is most likely originating with a problem in the spine. Dr. Kristy and Dr. Shoshana have also taken extra time to teach me exercises I can do outside of my visits to continuously work on improving my physical health. I look forward to many more years of being under their care. I feel that my health is much better than many of my peers because I have taken a more natural approach to resolving the problem that is causing the pain instead of just covering it up with pain medication. As an added bonus, they have a beautiful, modern office in midtown Atlanta. This was absolutely the best investment I’ve made in my health.
A very good place to go IF anything happens to you. I stayed two weeks on 4 South. Was wonderful in all ways. They even got a heat pad which was wonderful.Nothing but good things happened to me. Dietary came in and helped me with food choices and also for help at home with direction on how and what to eat at home. The lady was very kind and even put edible orchids on my food tray but could not eat it, was too beautiful and put them in book to preserve them for future memories. Will never forget them. It was just a great place to be sick if you have to be sick. I had surgery which was a little unpleasant, but after the surgery, I did not have any more pain in my foot which was what the surgery was all about. Thank you St. Joseph's for being kind and thanks to 4 South for their nurses and healthcare people on that floor and in the surgical wings of that hospital. I, of course, was ready to come home. I have another surgery on the same foot to do and I do hope that this trip is successful as the one in Sept. 2012.I have one picky thing to say.. and that was the bed. It was awful. It's not suppose to be like home tho. Hospital beds are known for their beds being horrible. This one was not horrible, just tolerable. But that's ok. I still had a wonderful experience with them.. Most doctors just prescribe a pill for pain. How easy is it for western medics to send patients to the pharmacy as a solve for medical problems, right? But at Live Well, long-term care is their aim, in conjunction with helping our bodies heal themselves, and also educating patients on how to assist in that process -- no pills ever! I've been a patient for the better part of ten years. I used to have a big problem with torticollis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torticollis). Many years ago I remember lying on their table wincing (I actually mean sobbing) and writhing in pain, unable to turn my head or completely straighten myself out. Since that time, through regular visits and a bit of work on my own, I no longer have neck or back problems. My spine continues to straighten year after year, and I've been made aware of my posture; how I carry myself, how I sit, stand, sleep, etc. I am completely changed! I’m a 25-year-old college student and I’ve been going through a really rough time in my life; dealing with multiple stressors which have affected me emotionally, psychologically, and physically. I felt the urge to start an acupuncture session to help me out with the severe muscle pain and insomnia I was experiencing as a result of my situation. I was very impressed with how quickly Unha was able to diagnose the true causes of my symptoms during my first visit with her, without me having to mention much about my personal life. After a few acupuncture sessions and using the herbal supplements she has specialized for me, my nervous system was much more calm and I was dealing with my life problems with a lot more ease and a calmer state of mind. Acupuncture not only relieved a lot of my physical symptoms; like muscle pain, it also helped calm me down emotionally which increased my ability to cope with some crazy events that I’ve been going through in my personal life. I’m so grateful to have made this decision and I would recommend acupuncture for anyone who is going through a stressful time in his or her life.
I have been treated at MSCA since the facility was fairly new and have for the better part of the time been very pleased. A few clerical distractions is a minor complaint when the medical care is terrific. Recently, I experienced a frightening experience in the infusion room; however, I was treated with the utmost care. I would like to praise my nurse, Anita, after she had to jump in and out of my ordeal due to her lunch. Also a well dressed, pretty lady who I thought had Missy on her name tag was a savior. She enabled me to calm down with her sweet, calm demeanor while getting in my face sweetly, to quietly tell me I was okay as they were getting ready to place me on a stretcher for my quick trip via ambulance to Piedmont. And the ENT told me in her 12 years, she had only been called to MS Center two times. I was home that night. I, also, want to Praise Dr. English for his excellent concern and recommended treatments since I went off Avonex on my own after 9 years using it. MS Center Atlanta is the place for MS. I don't like to say "my MS" because I won't claim MS as mine! Go MSCA
