Location: Right off of the street and in the same plaza as Yogli Mogli. Parking is a bit tight and they do not offer much parking space, so I recommend finding a spot on the side of the street and then walking. Atmosphere: My friend and I sat on the patio, which was nice and offered views onto the street. It also has a warm and rustic vibe. When you first walk into the restaurant I was greeted by a very friendly host who asked if we wanted to either sit inside or outside. He then led us to our table which was very clean and simple. The inside of the restaurant features a wall of wine options that you can choose from and also features desserts that I think you can pick up for togo. Murphy’s has a very casual laid back atmosphere that transports you to a Cali winery. Food/Beverages: We ordered the mimosas which were good because how can you really butcher a mimosa (juice & champagne)? I ordered the quinoa squash with the artichokes as an appetizer and a side of their mac and cheese. My lovely friend ordered their special, which was grilled scallops over angel hair pasta and tossed in a pesto sauce. The artichokes were very good because they were grilled and served with a delicious lemon aioli of some sort. I LOVE artichokes and boy, they did this artichoke justice. The quinoa squash was also delicious and perfectly seasoned. Many places usually offer bland vegetable entrees, but Murphy’s seasoned this entree to perfection. It was surprisingly good. The thing that stole my heart was actually the mac and cheese. I love mac and cheese and this was some good ole mac and cheese. I think they used some sort of white cheddar and truffle oil, which complemented the cheese very nicely. I also loved the fact that they used a thicker type of pasta in order to catch every drop of their delicious cheese sauce. If you do not thick that the shape of the pasta affects how a dish tastes, then you my friend need to try their mac and cheese. It was goooooood. My friend’s scallop pesto pasta was also very flavorful, light and filling. The pesto sauce was divine and she raved about the perfection that the scallops were cooked to.Service: Our server was very attentive to us and made sure that we had everything we needed. Overall: Murphy’s is a great place for a unique spin on traditional american food. Everything was seasoned to my liking and I will definitely be back to try some of their other offerings. Parking is a bit of a pain, but a bit of walking is not all that bad. I am surprised that I haven’t heard about this gem in Virginia Highland’s until now.
I went here with my hubby for our first date night post baby! I was already super excited because of all the wonderful reviews I had read, and I was not disappointed. So, first we were greeted by the complimentary valet when we pulled up, which is always a wonderful thing, especially here in Atlanta where parking can be a nightmare. Next, we walked in and spoke to the hostess, who seemed a little overwhelmed with the large crowd, but was still nice and quick to greet us and get our name. We had reservations for 7:30, but did have a 10 minute wait because they were a little behind. However, this was not too terrible since we were able to order a drink at the bar in the mean time. It was a Saturday night, so it was very crowded, but our drinks were ready very quickly, and the bartender was personable and helped me choose a drink that I would enjoy (I am not a big drinker), and it was delicious! Sadly, I do not recall the name of it. Once we were seated, we got our waters and cheese bread, and the waiter explained to us how things work with the red and green coaster.. turn it over to green for servers to come offer you meat, and turn it over to red to stop the servers from offering. Next, they brought out the side items while we went and loaded our plates at the extensive salad bar.. I had never seen anything like it! I tried most everything they had out and all of it was tasty. Next, we turned our cards to green and immediately were offered many types of meat. Every single thing I had was amazing, except for the lamb. I am partial here though, since I had never had lamb and was very hesitant to try it at all. My favorite meat was the filet mignon, but everything was cooked perfectly. You are able to choose which part of the meat you want by how it is cooked (medium rare, medium, etc). So, after many rounds of meat and tasting all the sides (which were good but nothing spectacular compared to the meat), we ordered dessert. We chose the papaya cream with the blueberry liqueur on top, and it was wonderful! Overall, I would give this place 6 out of 5 stars if I could! Totally worth the small fortune we spent! :-)

This place was the ultimate experience for out of state visitors. My friends and I are all about the true dining experience. We love chic eateries with amazing decor that put such a big smile on your face when you walk in. I love to feel like I'm in a movie when I am out dining and this place did just that. When you pull up to the establishment you are a little confused because it looks like you just pulled up to a garage shipping dock. Parking wasn't anywhere insight so we paid for valet. Shortly there after we walked into an amazing restaurant that is mouth dropping. It has a very urban New York sophisticated upscale hipster appeal. The bar tender was very well versed in her knowledge of cocktails so we took her suggestions for drinks. The restaurant is very large in size. We decided to sit outside on their amazing patio surrounded by trendy lofts and a beautiful landscape of rich greenery. Their outside dining was absolutely one of the best experiences I have had. The weather was even great in November of 2014. The drinks are a bit pricey as it is upscale dining, but I experience is well worth. We only stayed for drinks as we were just looking for place to kick back and have a few cocktails. I totally recommend this place as a date night restaurant or a girls in the city night out with your with your closest friends. I will definitely visit this place the next time that I am in Atlanta. The service was a plus. This place is definitely an attraction for Atlanta visitors.
Attending their Wednesday night open mic night almost didn't happen for us since parking in the area is a bit cumbersome to find and our cards wouldn't work at the lot across the street but we thankfully finally found a metered street parking spot. You have to go through The Vortex restaurant to get into the comedy club through the same door used to access their shared restrooms in the back left of the restaurant. If you're a student be sure to ask for the student discount since you can get in for $5 instead of $10 and I wouldn't order tickets online since there is a $3 per ticket service fee for the convenience of securing your seat online.Although all the chairs at the front of the intimate red-hued venue were taken when we arrived there is overflow bench seating at the back that is pretty comfortable and still gives you a good view of the stage. The quick but sizable open mic acts were divided into two sets although there was no intermission between the two and the first set was definitely stronger than the last one. There was a really good selection of several comedians here, some skilled, some brand new, and most were pretty funny although all of them were at least somewhat entertaining. Overall I cannot think of very many better ways to entertain yourself for this price during a night out for a unique and largely comedic experience.
I honestly decided to leave a review because i know there are others experiencing issues similar to me. I came to Uptown & saw Josie off of a site called styleseat.com. i had recently been tooken advantage of by 3girls&aneedle hair/service and wasnt sure who to trust. But simply by grace & mercy, i was led to Josie & had a wonderful experience. I got a full sewn in w/ closure using true indian hair (she believes in recommending quality vendors & not just trying to get over with bad batches). Pricey...yes...but worth it due to the quality of hair ordered (2 bundles & closure $315...will review hair as well) & she died bundles & installed for $250. She also cut layers into the beautifully dyed blk with subtle burgundy highlights (1st time trying color...was nervous...but came out great). Additionally, they were friendly, enjoyed gospel music in background (which i truly appreciated but later R&b was played), was not loud/ghetto/cursing going on...just really a cool environment. This is a real & true review by a female fed with Atlanta's abundance of hair vendors & stylist out here trying to collect on our hard earned money! Im DEFINITELY returning!
I visited 656 to celebrate a friend's birthday. We ordered our food around 6:00pm. At about 7, the waitress, who had not come back to the table for an hour, came out with food for 2 of the 9 people in our party. When we asked about our food she explained that the kitchen was backed up. This is understandable, however, she should have updated us before an hour had passed. About 10 minutes later, we still hadn't received our food and the manager was called over. She asked what we oredered and apologized for the mix up. Eventually everyone got their food. I did not rate it one star because the manager remained professional ans the waitress was never disrespectful. However, I refuse to pay money for such horrible service. Despite the manager's effort to make up for it (by only charging us for our drinks), my experience was very unsatisfactory. Also, two people in my party were accused of leaving without paying for their drinks. However, we saw them pay and how xould they have paid foe thier foos and not their drink if it was all on the same ticket. Another friend ended up paying for their drinks because they were not there to prove that they paid.
I did my research before flying into Atlanta GA from California and I was in need of a serious stylist that knows how to transform people into stars. I actually followed Beautii J's career history on you tubes and blogs which shows a lot from the fashion world, products, entertainment, hair and now educating up and coming stylist. I really wanted a master educator a women of her master craft in my hair. Beautii listened as to what my needs where and added a few suggestion and assist me in selecting the best Indian Hair that matches my natural hair as possible. When my weave was done, I felt and look like a mega star and I must say Beautii has turned my life around because I was picked for a role that is currently view on T.V. now. The staff is so friendly and nice. The staff work is superior as well, I have not seen any client leave unhappy. The shop appearance has a European decor that relaxes your mind. Rest assurance, I am pleased and I have found my long term stylist that not only services my weaves at the shop she also hooks me up on set. Thanks Beautii J...
Where do I start? If you are celebrating an event this is not your spot. I made reservations for 6 and received an email saying my reservations were received. I arrive at the restaurant only to wait 15 minutes for the Hostess who was having a intense conversation with another group who were unhappy and then left. I was told there was no record of my reservation and that I was supposed to receive a text confirmation. How was I supposed to know that? After some discussion, the Hostess seated us and told us we would have to give up our table in one hour and 45 minutes to stand because there was no other available seating. Our waitress came with menus and took one drink order only to come back 20 minutes later w/o the one drink. After one person in my party let the waitress know how she felt the waitress bought us a round of drinks. All through the night we saw the Hostess having unpleasant conversations with other groups who appeared dissatisfied. On the up side the food and the DJ were good. WHO MANAGES THIS SPOT?
I went for the first time to Grain with friends and we went roughly at 11:30pm on a Monday night and the place was small, but had plenty of open seats! This was a great bar to catch up with friends and I could also see it being a cute place to get drinks after a date too. I liked the classy and dark ambience to the bar. My friends Morgan and Katie ordered the Midtown Mule ($9). Morgan said this drink was too pungent for her but I personally liked it when I tried a sip. To me, the pineapple cancelled out an overly vodka taste! Katie said really liked it as well because the juices in it made it a little sweeter than a normal Moscow mule. For me, I ordered the Hemingway cocktail ($9). I believe this drink contained rum, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and a couple other of ingredients. It was too bitter for my taste so I found myself adding some lime and water to the cocktail. I would not get this drink again. The bartender was also extremely nice and I enjoyed speaking with him!
