I would give Amalfi pizza a 12/10 if I could! Great new spot in Atlanta. We visited for a friend's birthday last week. The space is very open and simply decorated. It felt very European to me. The lighting was dim but really fit the mood of the restaurant. We started the night with a bottle of Prosecco, the meatballs and bruschetta. We then each ordered our own personal pizza! EVERYONE'S food was amazing- no one felt like they ordered the wrong thing which rarely happens in our group. (We all also finished our pizzas in one sitting- which never happens either. We couldn't stand to leave a bite behind!) The service was phenomenal, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was trendy. Would recommend to anyone looking for a more upscale pizza experience. This is not a casual place to stop in for a slice- this is an authentic Italian experience.
Antico’s has won numerous awards including Festa Della Pizza’s Top in Class Pizzeria and I can definitely see why! The pizza here is so delicious and is made the way authentic Italian pizza is made! My friends and I went on a week night and ordered the Lasagna Pizza ($20) which had meatballs, ricotta, and romano as toppings (shown below). The meatballs were really flavorful and their texture went perfectly with the texture of the ricotta cheese. The crust is purposely burnt a little but is so soft and doughy. I would easily order this pizza again. My favorite though is the sofia pizza!! My friend Harry also recommended the San Gennaro and Bianca pizza! I recommend coming here on a monday-thursday because otherwise it gets too crowded and there'll be no where to sit. It's also BYOB and community tables!
Love the pizza at Fellini's on Roswell Road! My boyfriend and I order a large cheese pie for pick up at least once a week. We don't like floppy pizza (we want to be able to eat with our hands, not a knife and fork) so we always ask for the crust to be well done which makes a huge difference. If you decide to order by the slice, be prepared- they are huge! I am a big fan of the Sicilian slices- the thickness is a nice change from their usual thin crust. I'll usually do one of each if I don't order a full pie. I don't love the atmosphere at this particular location- it gets pretty crowded... so we usually just order to pick up.
Some of the best pizza in Atlanta. You order and pay upfront at the counter and then seat yourself in a dining room that is a mix of private and community style tables (outside seating also available). The line can get really long but it moves pretty quick and once you place your order you'll have your food in 20 minutes or less. The pizza is Napoletana Style Wood Fired and it is AWESOME. The beer selection is great, there is a full bar, and wine is on tap. If you are still thirsty after dinner, the restaurant is walking distance from a variety of bars. Pretty perfect if you ask me.
This is an update on a review that might still be out there somewhere. I used to LOVE Shorty's and would tell everyone I saw to check it out. But now it has new owners and it's just not the same. Some things are still great - like the rocket salad and quacamole. But the signature pizza pies just seem to be missing something. I don't know if they cut the quality on the ingredients but I've given them at least 3 tries to get it right and might have to give up. I wish them the best and hope they figure it out but definitely miss the vibe and taste of the old Shorty's I knew and loved.
Great atmosphere with warm tones, stone work and an open kitchen. We were met at the door by the owner...with a smile. Not that fake 'thanks for coming because I need customers' smile. It was genuine and welcoming...like we were having dinner in his home. The gentleman at the counter made menu suggestions and helped us order. He was kind and patient with me. We ordered (2) single slices and the handmade ravioli with white sauce. They all came as a combo (salad and 20oz drink). The food presentation, pricepoint, and flavor sealed the deal. We will be back!!!!
I recently visited Princi for brunch. The menu has the typical brunch items like eggs benedict and french toast. I did really enjoy the nutella pizza with raspberry. It was by far the best dish that I had. The chicken and waffles were just ok. The highlight is the $10 bottomless mimosa. The atmosphere is nice. There is lots of windows so the sunlight shines through great. The outdoor patio over looking 12th and Crescent is also a plus. Service was good so I have no complaints there and you can never go wrong with free validated parking when dining in Midtown.
I visited antico for the first time last weekend after hearing nothing but amazing things about the pizza. However, I was not very impressed.. The actual place is very cute and quaint but the pizza was a let down.. I love brick oven pizza but the bottom of this pizza was so burnt it left a bad taste in my mouth. I know New York style pizza is thin but this pizza seems to be too thin. I think we also messed up by getting a pizza without sauce.. It was pretty dry. I would opt for johnnys New York style pizza over antico. Call me crazy..
I love pizza and a friend told me about this place. We went here on our lunch break which wasn't the best idea because it took longer than an hour. The service was really good and the people were really friendly. We ordered the uncle Tony and it wasn't bad, but not the best that I've ever had. Maybe if the pizza was hot when it came out it would have been better , but it was a little cold. Since we were on our lunch break we didn't have time for them to make it again. I not saying that I wouldn't try them again , but I'm in no hurry.
I want to love this place and can say that I do love the pizza. But something about the atmosphere just doesn't fit the bill. I can't exactly put my finger on it but something always seems to fall flat when it comes to service, atmosphere or attitude. I can't say much more than that, but I always walk away not fully satisfied with the whole experience. Unfortunately that elusive "feel" just escapes me and keeps me from coming back. But don't let that stop you from checking it out because the pizzas are great!
