My son was born with multiple health conditions, and Egleston is the hospital we must go to because his Neurologist is based out of that location. Unfortunately, some of the Care Staff including Nurses, the IV Team, and Respiratory seem to be lacking compassion in their correspondence with me. My son is almost 1, and is currently on life support, however upon asking what they were doing this morning when the alarms were sounding and they seemed nervous, I received a condescending attitude. As a mother, I expect two things from a hospital; Compassion and Communication. Sadly, this hospital seems to be completely lacking in both of those areas. My son has been admitted to Egleston on multiple occasions. Each time, his level of care has never been acceptable. The communication issues that seem to occur between the Nurses and Doctors is unacceptable. There needs to be protocol set in place where, in the event of a change in a care plan, the parent/caregiver is notified immediately, even if only by phone. I had a meeting this morning with the "House Manager", and during our 30-45 min conversation where I expressed my concerns, I was given excuses. What I was expecting was an apology, not a reason why I need to be the one to pursue getting information more efficiently. It is their job as a care team to communicate with me. There is no way for me to know if a plan has changed. On a separate note, the cafeteria is disappointing. I know, its a hospital and that shouldn't be a surprise, however, when you see pancakes on the menu above the ordering station, and ask for a simple pancake, but are told "They haven't cooked pancakes in months"...come on. I'm paying $100k for this visit....fix me a pancake.

Children's Healthcare saved my life in 2002. While the initial emergency room visit was NOT helpful, and my illness could have been prevented, once I was place in the main hospital the care I was given was exceptional. I had a series of specialists working on me to figure out what exactly was going on, and eventually the figured it out. God honestly saved my life, but used to doctors at Children's Healthcare to do exactly that. I was 12 years old and had bacterial meningitis as well as encephalitis. However, the only symptom I had was an excruciating headache. (which is why the emergency room sent me home multiple times) Once I was placed in the hospital and the infection took over and caused a stroke and a seizure, and was in the ICU for 6 days was when the doctors found the bacteria. My parents could have sued and gotten a lot out of the situation, but they were so greatful for what the doctors did for me, they had an extensive meeting and now the emergency room tests for meningitis WITHOUT all the regular symptoms. Also, they changed the "normal" white blood count in order to catch bacteria early on. Childrens Healthcare has wonderful nurses and doctors and strive to do everything they can to improve and better help the children in the Atlanta area. Thank you Scottish Rite!!
good day to one and all I am s.mahomed from south Africa, and I am an ardent fan of children health care of Atlanta i follow and share the dedication of every good deed on my Facebook page. I can honesty rate this health to 100 plus. But sadly in my country we pay so much through medical aids, but we do not get our monies worth. Last week my kid was hospitalised in a private hospital that looked life a cramped prison small passage like room that accomaded 4 sick children and a broken old couch for moms to sleep. Its really sad. I as an individual want to make difference to children in my country because I am inspired by healthcare of Atlanta. someone from this kind hospital please advise me how to fundraise and through donations and sponsors to open a state of the art healthcare in south Africa. I really want to to make a difference to scared innocent kids healthcare of Atlanta for kids is an inspiration to the world my humble blessings to one and all.

If your child must be in a hospital then this should be it. The staff goes above and beyond to make you and your child comfortable. They are amazing!! The parking is a bit tight and can be challenging if you go late in the day. Just go next door and do valet if your in a hurry. Oh and the pizza in the cafeteria is delish!
I've taken all three of my kids here for emergency situations. The doctors were attentive and caring. The staff was efficient and experienced in treating children. The only negative is that it is a teaching hospital so you may get a medical student that is not as experienced.
Top tier service from ped professionals. Wait time can be found online before you go, and you can even check in online. Amazing service, and labs and tests are conducted with care. There is no better hospital in Atlanta for children.
Excellent care for kids of all ages. Took a tour of the facilities as part of our neighborhood Friends group and was really impressed with the facilities. Have been there twice for ER visits and they were very well trained.
The only place I go in emergencies for my kids!! The nurses and doctors are equipped for children and nervous parents! From broken bones to stitches to spiking fevers - they will put you and your child at ease.
